UK Stampers March ATC Swap

I know white rabbit day is tomorrow, but Sam went sking and set both February and March swaps up before she left.  Having made mine thought I'd share with you.

Back left brayered background and then the Dreamweaver Tree stencil and black paste, some perfect pearls sprinkled over while it was still wet.   The chipboard butterfly was coloured with Promarkers then stamped with musical script embossed with WOW powders.

The Atc to the right brayered in the same way and then stamped with Clarity's trees.   Another dreamweaver stencil bird on a branch with black paste and then more perfect pearls.    The ATC in the front was stamped with SU images the birds eye highlighted with glossy accents.    The overlay was embossed and then cut out, the raised area's touched with Inca Gold.

So have you figured out the theme for UK Stampers March Atc swap?   It is 'In the Woods', so tempting to use a teddy bear but I resisted.

The Stampman - Swirls and Curls

You just know it will be a popular challenge this next fortnight at The Stampman it's Swirls and Curls.    Chosen by the very talented Sue C, been a follower and fan of Sue's for a couple of years now her style is classic elegance with a lot of fun.

This card is for a blogland friend's Birthday at the end of March.   Heard yesterday that she is in hospital waiting for an Op.   So you know that today I'll be making her another card that she will get before this one.

Matt card cut in Nesties the two paisleys in cream card the oblong in green card.    Stamped the smaller paisley with a Clarity Lady and coloured her and the background with ProMarkers.   The lower shape coloured with DI and stamped with a Hero Arts clear greeting stamp.    The green mat and base card were stamped with another Clarity stamp this one is a lush leaf and swirl.    Topped it all off with a TH swirl (Guessing there will be a lot of these entered in the challenge as well) and a little bling.

A little blog candy

Time for a little give away not celebrating anything just a just because gift.

The Craft Barn did their bargain bags recently and I grabbed a couple one full of inks and the other full of stamps.   Roughly 40% of the stamps are just a little too cute for my taste, still got more than my money's worth with the ones I'm keeping.   Just thought so many of you do like cute and make lovely things with it so it would be nice to give one of you these.  I've added the little butterfly which is lovely but I have quite a collection of them and the small inkpad and stamp set from the inks bag.

No need to add this to your side bar or add a link or anything like that, you can if you like but I'm not expecting it.   To be added to the draw just post a comment below telling me why you would like to win this candy.   I'll choose a winner in a couple of weeks so check back to see if it is you.

CofC #33

Week 33 just 2 more to go and Linda will have taken us through all the techniques in TH's Compendium of Curiosities.    Shockingly I cannot tell you which are the 2 we still have to do.   Been great though some of the techniques did not do a lot for me, some I already know and love as for the rest well now I know them I love them as well.

This is a know and love technique 'Altered Metal Alcohol Inks.   As you know by now we are asked not to tell you about the featured technique but refer you to the book and this time page 56.

This metal flower was created using TSS tools and one of their wonderful embossing plates.   I love working the embossing this way the outside edge of the metal may get a little marked in the process but that just adds to the distress effect.   The base card was also coloured with Alcohol inks metal attached with eyelets and some leather cord threaded through on one side and knotted.   Sorry about the picture but shiny surfaces are not that easy to photograph, but you know that already.

Just for Fun - Angel Wings

Almost the end of February thats one sixth of the year gone already how did that happen!    February has been a special month with the start of our new challenge Just for Fun.   All month we have been looking at Wings for this week the prompt is Angel Wings.

For this shrine I painted the wooden base with black gesso.   Stamped and embossed some metal shaped it to fit the back of the shrine and then worked it with the TSS tools, bit off center I'm afraid.   The sides were stamped also stamped and embossed.    The wings were cut with a sizzix die and attached with glossy accents round the edge.   With the first layer alcohol ink dropped onto the GA but it blured the outline so the second set were popped on top.   When the GA was dry went round the edge with gold pen.

The shrine was originaly brought so I could join in Alter it Monthly which this month is Shrines.    Like to join in with this challege its just right for a not so cutie like me.    Having so many surfaces to play with great fun.    The outside doors were also given a covering of black gesso and then some Crackle Accents swirls and drops of alcohol inks.   Then went over the top with Inca gold and a few sticky back gems.   Finally stitched two sets of two buttons back to back and stuck them on as handles,

Hope you will join us at Just for fun with your angel wings,

Empty space

Really getting into Zentangling now its good to have a a pen or pencil in my hands making marks on paper.

The Diva has been setting some great fun challenges as well.   This week her tenth she is getting us to leave some open space.

Now that is something I find especially hard in any form of crafting the Clean and Simple Card is quite byond me love them but can not leave a card alone.   Same with a canvas or anything just have to fill it with busyness.   So this was a real challenge, have seem some amazing tangles where there is as much if not more space than pattern.   Even here there had to be little tendrals but think I've succeded with the space.

king of the skies

One of the lovest way to spend a Sunday is a relaxed day with the chores done the inks out and just foolin' around a little.

This little canvas had a Tattered Angles stencil over it and was then coloured with dabbers in Peri blue and pearl.   Used a stencil brush over the stencil and then the dabber tops to pull the paint out to the edge of the canvas.   Some pretty cotton cord down the side.   Buttons with pink thread just because die cut a crown and added some bling.   Finally crowned the canvas with a little cotton lace.

This canvas is for Gingersnaps Crowns Challenge.

Zen Artoo

Since Frankie included a Zentangle in one of her tag challenges I've been exploring these again.    There are some awesome blogs with many designs and tutorials on how do draw them and then there is our greatest art resource our own imagination.   Got very excited by a picture of sheep on the TV the other day, was on the phone so the volumn was down but the idea grabbed me and hung on so it is included on this tangle.

Basically this tangle is a response to The Diva.   Recently her baby boy has been very poorly in hospital with Mum by his side.   The care and attention he needed left little time for Tangling but fortunatly this gifted lady did design a new patten which she has named Artoo after her baby boy.   I have adapted it hope that is still acceptable.

Another artist I have been following for a while and whose work is so inspiring is Susan.  Such a generous lady on her blog you will find links to a vast set of resources.

These are all 4" squares that I've tangled recently following the tutorials available and my own wim.   Two are in pencil but I've got a fine nib pen now, it makes a difference and used that for my adapted Artoo.

Dragon's Dream - Paying spring forward

Thats the theme that Frankie is going for this week with her Dragon's Dream weekly tag challenge.

Spring is coming and after the winter we have had we need it.   My snowdrops are out and other bulbs coming through days are getting longer all we need now are a few warm and sunny days.

So got out an Elusive image's Spring set but then could not decide which stamps to use so chose to make a pair of tags.   Now since the CS cover there have been some beautiful hydrangea images in blog land.   I went for something a little impressionist with a DI background, Glimmer mist, Studio G pigment ink quite impressed by these little pads, & Whisper pens.

CoC #32 - Inking and stamping masks

If you have been here before you might have noticed that I quite like Masks and masking, a couple of things recently gave me the opportunity to combine the two.

Linda's weekly Compendium of Curiosities challenge this week is Inking and stamping masks to find out what I'm on about you will have to look in the book at page 59 where all is explained.

I recently joined a Yahoo group KCUK where an ATC swap is running for Februay the theme being Masks, the kind that cover the eyes or face.   Well it just happens that I have 3 stamps just the right size for an atc that depict just these sort of masks.   Let the fun begin LOL

Just for Fun - Oh for the wings of a bug

WOW we saw some fabulous flying times last week and its great to hear that we are inspiring some of you to join in.   Hope you will have as much fun with this week's theme, which is bug wings well it had to be wings we are still in February.

Just for fun well that is our challenge name! I got our a Glitter Girl board and traced out the butterfly images all three sizes in pairs.   The largest pair are card, the top two are vellum.   Bottom two pairs coloured with alcohol inks, the top ones stamped with the Glitter Girls art deco style girl made for the board.   A wooden barbaque kabab stick has a butterfly set stick on each side, beads threaded on wire make the body on each side and make an antenna.

Looking forward to seeing your Bug wings this week at Just for Fun.

The Stampman ATC swap - February Steampunk

Have not joined The Stampman ATC Swap for a couple of months, seems there have been a few things I've been missing.   This month the swaps theme is Steampunk so joining in was a simple must.   The first two left and right in the picture were fairly striaght forward used a variety of stamps and colours on them including my little cogs and Sue's new dotty stamp.   Brayered them both using waterfall B&J, a bottle top filled with small watch parts and crackle glaze topped with a little copper colour perfect pearls stuck on one.   While on the other a little metal clip with a piece of string through it, air dry clay beads cover the string ends.

After several attempts at a third was begining to wonder if I'd manage a full set.   Been learning more about Zentangeling recently and it occured to me that an industrial theme combined with steampunk style stamps and some more watch parts might work.   Hope swappers will not be disappointed.

Pay it forward Pressie

When Sam put the pay it forward offer up on her blog I leapt at it knowing that I would love what ever she made. Recent posting of hers included the making of these background papers which are brillient. When this hanging arrive here my hopes and expectations were rewarded.

Part of the agreement when doing these is to make the same offer to make something sometime this year for up to 5 people who sign up to pay it forward. You can see my offer here. While several people commented only 2 put the offer up on their blog so if you would like to sign up to pay it forward please leave a comment letting me know on the Pay if forward post.

Thank you Sam XOXO

journal page colour

At the begining of the year Efemera started giving us a set of prompts each week for a journal page.   Its a little something going on at UK Stampers.

I've not joined in each week but this one is irreistible the promts are your favourite colour (Green and Blue) us it as the main colour of your page. Why is it your favourite?  Green is restful, combined green and blue are the colours of life and renewal.   Green is related to Gold while blue is related to Silver but Blue is one of the two Prime colours that make green.  Finally the third promt is to doodle round the edges.   Some of my doodles are Zentangle pattens.   Great restful escape this evening after a day at work  just getting messy for the joy of it.

Poppy Appeal 2011

A good blogging buddy and her OH are planning something special for this year's Poppy appeal.   Read all about it here you will also see how you can help.   Janet is asking blogland to make Poppy cards that she will sell at the event to raise more funds for the appeal.    This card will be on it's way to Janet soon maybe with one or two others.

At Drunken Stamps this week we are challenged to make a card without a sentiment.   Well for me at least the Poppy speaks for itself.

Clarity Poppy stamp used on silk card masked and brayered.   Main image then coloured with Promarkers.   Other Clarity stamps used for the wild flowers round the edge and the flock of birds both stamped in black.   Rounded the corners and layer on vellum, red paper on top of hammered card.

Update:  Was having a moment yesterday and renamed Janet!   Have corrected now but apolgies to all for any confusion caused by my senior moment.

The Stampman - Hearts

Member's of the Clarity Stamp Club receive a new stamp every month, it works out at £4 a stamp good value don't you think? The stamp that arrived yesterday is the gorgeous 'wire heart'.

It has been used here on coated metal unfortunatly the flash has obsecured part of the image here. Traced the design with TSS embossing tool and then puffed the heart from behind, corners ofthe metal punched with a MS corner punch. Ribbon down the spine side rouched at the bottom going for a frothy look here with feather and paper flowers coloured with DI inks. A small metal cupid strung with some beads hangs from the feather. Hidden under the feather embossed in copper ep are the words 'With Love'.

Made this card for The Stampman Challenge which this fortnight is hearts

Am also entering into
Gingersnaps Charm Challenge

Crafty Cardmakers another group looking for Hearts.

Gingersnaps - Charming

You know how sometimes a stamp catches your eye and just demands to be given a home and ink?   Well this new Hero Arts one did that with me.  A lot of other folk were pretty taken with it as well, the Stampman sold out of the first batch but luckly were able to get more.

The main image is stamped in expresso and then given a cover of clear ep.   The paper was torn around the shape of the stamped image.   A Craft Stamper cover stamp was used on the base card and the vellum mat.   Gypsium from the local cake crafters shop (they also sell moulds and cookie cutters so useful with clay and FP)   A little raffia bow with two little metal charms hung from it, and a small sprig of gypsium tucked in above it.   I'm really rather pleased with how this one came out.

Needing an excuse to make the card, of course, this week's Ginger spicy supply challenge gave me one with this week's which is to use a charm or charms in your work.   So new stamp and a good enough reason it had to be done LOL

JFF - Wings week 2

Gosh we have been on such a high this week with the response to our new challenge Just for Fun its been a wonderful response and so many people we have just met because of it.   Far exceeded our expectations thank you for joining us.

This week our months theme of Wings continues, this time Sam has chosen Time Flies as the challenge.    Hop on over to Just for Fun to see what it is all about.

This wall hanging is made with an acrylic page from an album.   TH mask laid on and then the page spray with glass frosting.   Alcohol inks on the back and then cork cogs cut from the TH die.   The wings are cut from a Sizzix die stamped with Paper Artsy time related sayings.   The hands on the front of the piece are from a dismantled windup clock.

Hope you have ideas for flying time to share with us.

Last Chunky Grungy page for a while

All the other pages are for people who know me and might visit this blog so they will not be shown until after the books have been received by their owners.   This is the Chunky Grungy page swap organised by She, pages are 5" square each swapper set a theme for her book.   In this case Karen's theme is Build it, she is looking for pages of well know buildings.

Got Andrew at Tanda on the case looking for a suitable picture of Stonehenge, he came up trumps and made the stamp up for me.   Other Tanda stamps completed the page with the help of Promarkers.   Legand says Merlin built Stonehenge, science says otherwise but legand makes a pretty picture.

Queen of Hearts

This is one card for three challenges, all of which it's fun to join in with and with the opening of the third of them today the final piece fell into place.

Firstly this is for Sue's  Tanda Teaser which this fortnight celebrates Valantines with a card for someone you care about.   The stamp was designed by Sue a couple of years ago and made up by Tanda as a private order, kindly Sue allowed Andrew to make a set up for me.

The next Challenge is Gingersnaps Chestnut challenge which is Kings and Queens, hence this Queen of Hearts.

The third challenge is Linda's Compendium of Curiosities challenge which this week is Rusted Enamel as described on page 41 of the book.   Week 31 just 4 to go.

The hearts are two Tando hearts from the set used for yesterday's mobile.   Coloured with Barn Door and then coated with Crackle glaze.   The ribbon is for Breast Cancer Awareness which just seemed fitting for this theme of love and hearts.

Tando - Dove with Hearts

What a rotten wet week-end we have just had guess its been the same everywhere here in the UK.  Could be so much worse hearing everything that has been happening in Australia and last weeks heavy snow falls in North America perhaps we should'nt moan.

Staying indoors gives you lots and lots of play time, well it does me anyway.   Ever since Di sent me this set to play with I have seen it as a mobile just wish I could show it off better.  It is, of course, Tando Chipboard.

Coloured the chippie with Viva's Inca gold and buffed with paper towel.   The birds were then stamped with a feather image from Tanda and gold ep.   Punched three holes one at the bottom of the middle heart and two on the single bird.   Wire attaches the two pieces with blue and gold beads filling the gaps.   More wire and beads make the hanger and then ribbon thought about it and put more ribbon on.

If you would like to see some of the wonderful things people have been doing with Tando Chipboard pop over to the Tando blog.

am entering this in The Artistic Stamper as well where the theme is the topical February one of 'Love'

Dragon's Dream - Tangle tag

Dragon's Dream this week is for Zentangle tags with a rubber stamp. Zentangle purist work with just black ink and their pen, but the style is becoming increasingly popular and with more people more avenues are being explored. How ever you do it focusing on the images being drawn is still a wonderful way to relax.

My tag is a scrap tag stained with some dried out Exquisite Eco-friendly stamp pads. It was the first time I'd used them one was completely dry, the orange had some ink left round the edge and the yellow one was still juicy, so juicy it took ages to dry. Still not in a hurry to throw the tag out it filtered to the bottom of the scrap pile and then surfaced when I wanted to make this tag.

The stamp is from The Stampman stamped in black ofcourse. After that it is just a matter of drawing the various pattens. Some are based on 'official' Zentangle pattens others are just myown doodles.

3 ATCs for UK Stampers Swap

New Challenge takes Wing

Good morning!

So excited our new adventure Just for fun kicks off today with our first challenge.    All three of us Sam, Von and myself have been preparing our samples and now we are inviting you to join in with us and show off your take on the theme.

The challenge takes off with an overall monthly theme of Wings and each week we will have a different aspect of that theme for you.   This week we have Heartfelt Wings.

For my sample I used the same marballed slab of FP that the mask, from the other day, is made from.   This time warm and soft FP has been cut with cookie cutters the inner heart used as a base.    Had thought I'd lined the corragated card for the wings on a different colour but no, now I rather like the way it clashs with the FP LOL.

So if you fancy getting messy and have an idea for heartfelt wings come on over to Just for fun and show us what you have created.

CofC #30

Goodness the 30th technique out of Tim Holtz's book A Compendium of Curiosities just 5 more to go it has been a fabulous way to get to know these techniques and Linda has promised that these weekly challenges will be continued in a vain to be announced.

This week the technique is described on page 48 and is Altered Metal with Paint.

I have used 'my' page for She's chunky grungy 5" square page swap this time.  The prompt is Steampunk things in the sky winged things.   A balloon of some kind was always in my mind for this and Sam Poole's new stamps are perfect.    Base is of course blended with DI air ship and bike stamped and clear embossed and then masked.   Chimney and dial sun over stamped.    Lady stamped onto paper cut out and coloured with Pro Markers.   Metal charms (altered as instructed) were part of a gift last year, thank you Cath.    Feathers to represent alternative things that fly in the sky with wings.  Perhaps this is a little over the top but as this page comes back to me no one will mind. LOL
