Just another Canvas

Quite simply this was inspired by November/December Cloth Paper Scissors.  Cannot point to any one article just got my copy Thursday and have been completely blown away.

Circular stretched canvas, thickly painted with blue and Yellow acrylic and left to dry over night.   Circle shapes made using a cotton doily coloured with Glimmer Mist, and a cotton fat square cut with dies.   More Sari Silk yarn swirled over one cotton circle then stitched in place with bright yellow thread.   Buttons sewn onto all the circles with same thread.   More Sari Silk crochet in three single chains.    Modelling paste spread over the canvas, a swirl stamped into the wet paste with champagne coloured encore ink.   Fabric's pressed into paste to stick them to the canvas.   A circular piece of mica also added with watch pieces inside.   Once the modelling paste had dried some Viva craco spread around the edge of the canvas and touched into the body.   Finally some blue Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic tapped found the stamped swirl.

This is just one of those things that have to be done just right then for Inspire me Friday's
No idea what Card Crafter's Circle will make of this but they did say Anything goes!
Frosted Designs are looking for something new, the stamp used is so new it only arrived in the post yesterday morning so not even part of the original idea!
And at Crop Stop they have a challenge running for 2 weeks luckily for me at it is 'Round and Round' guessing that's circles.

Last day of 2011 or if you live by another calendar just another day, which ever if you feel like celebrating enjoy the party.

Soft Yellows and White

You might have noticed by now that I'm a fan of the Gingersnaps challenges.   These are quirky, fun and challenging challenges stretching us and getting us out of our boxes.   And thank you ladies for my recent selection as a Gem.

The December Colour challenge is  Soft Yellows and Whites.   Started with a canvas roughly coloured it with yellow pastel and then Americana modelling paste.  While the paste was still soft stamped into it with a rubber stamp.    A torn strip of white mulberry paper laid down one side and some torn pieces of yellow mulberry paper randomly place on canvas.   Yellow and white fiber wrapped round and some more yellow pastel shaved on to it.   While the paste was drying a new Rubber Stampede stamp used with white EP on yellow dp.  The image carefully cut out and glued on top of the canvas.

As the New Year rapidly approaches a couple of challenges are inviting people to share projects made with their new crafty things, for me it is the stamp.

Sari Silk Necklace

Feeling a bit overdosed on cards and paper projects so decided to do something a little different.    Last September at Ally Pally on the Artistic Stamper Stand there were wonderful Twisted Sari Yarn skein's just crying to be made into jewellery.

Yesterday the time was right to see what I could do.   First off made three lengths of yarn by plaiting single lengths together.  Each plaited piece is a different length, tied off with a knot at each end.    A 20" chain with large links has the yarn strands threaded through, a metal heart hangs from each end of the chain.   More metal charms and acrylic beads have been attached to the ends of the yarn strands.   On my last visit to the Eternal Maker in Chichester prior to moving I stocked up on buttons including the large one used here with the longest strand threaded through the holes before the beads were attached.   I think it worked rather well LOL.

Lots of anything goes challenges around at the moment I'm entering this in a few.

Boxing Day Candles

Well after all the preparations and excitement the day has passed I hope it was a good one for you all.  For me yesterday was a perfect day!

Had a project all lined up for the holiday but just did not fancy doing it when it came time.   Knowing I had yet to enter the Gingersnap's
Candelabras, Chandeliers and Candles Challenge. When doing Saturday's Feline list Just for Girls make a sleeve for a pillar candle also caught my attention.

Don't happen to have a pillar candle to hand but in famous kitchen draw there was a packet of 5 regular candles and 4 sticks of cinnamon sticks. Bundled these together with a black raffia bow then melted wax crayon's, with a heat gun, to drip down the bundle and over the bow. Made a wrap with blue cellophane, and then cut some yellow cellophane with a jagged top and with slots in the piece to suggest flames. Cerise holey ribbon (great for oozing FP) with another ribbon threaded through tied around the base.    A little gem topped pin tops of the ribbon knot.

Sharing this with Sparkles Forum Challenge Anything but a Christmas card.   Enjoy Boxing Day everyone.

Have a wonderful day how ever you celebrate or spend the day.   Thank you for visiting and for your friendship, support, advice, encouragement and inspiration.    A wish for you all that 2012 is your year and brings you JOY.

This is also a CASish card for this fortnight's Less is more one word!

PINK!

Happy Christmas Eve, when the shops shut today if you have not got it not to worry there will still be somewhere open in the morning!    Basically though the UK is  now shut until 2012, the rest of Europe shuts for August not us our national holiday starts now LOL

Back to the Pink, not a colour I turn to much, let alone feature!   Then Sue told us what the Tanda Teaser is for two weeks and simply it is PINK!    Rummaged around and found some suitably coloured card stock and sequin waste, what to do with it?   Sue's Mack stamps seem to fit.   The four rose stamp has been used in black repeatedly on the base card which was then covered with the sequin waste.   Nesties used to cut silver mirra card and paler pink card which was stamped with another image from the set and coloured with Sakura Glitter Pens.   The greeting is an old one stamped onto card cut with a TH edge die.    Think it looks better in real life but all those shiny surfaces are difficult to photograph.

Playing with Wax Crayons

Last week at Gingersnaps the challenge was to use Wax.   I've played with Wax in my melt-pot but not overly happy with the results.   When swapping comments with a friend told her I'm a bit stumped, not to worry said Cath you'll think of something you always do.   Thanks for the vote of confidence Cath.

The answer of course was to get out the wax crayons.  The cheapest money could buy from the £1 shop.   Piece of watercolour paper masked with TH clock and DI, then sprayed with Glimmer mist.   Happened to have some Tyvek laying around that had previous been sprayed with the same GM.   Added the Tanda Seagulls in black ink and then the fun part.

Iron on cotton setting, used to warm part of the page (while heating it cover the page with some grease proof paper to protect the iron) and crayon quickly scribbled over to melt on the warm area.    Repeat with various blues, greens, purples, red, orange and yellow.   The Tyvek was then laid in place under the grease proof and then iron it.   The Tyvek starts to disintegrate making a textural holey foamy piece which was glued on top.

Paper then attached to corrugated card base, another piece of the same card cut to make a frame.   The frame was coated with wax using the iron again.   When it was completely covered more wax was added melted by heat gun and finally still with the heat gun ep melted into the wax.

Just for Fun - Autumn

Seems like just a few weeks ago everyone was making Autumn/Halloween themed projects!

Of course it's the forth Thursday this month and the last of our Season's challenges at Just for Fun,  autumn is the final season.   Appropriate really as today is the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere the exact time of it is 05:30 GMT.    Officially then this is the start of Winter.    I'm hoping for clear skies and glorious sun rise, sun set.

Will you have time to join us this week with a reminder of your own of Autumn?   Von and Neet have both made their own fabulous projects which you can see over on Just for Fun.

Travelin' on

Had to go to Beverley yesterday another first! which meant crossing the Humber Bridge love that the views are wonderful going to have to park and walk it sometime.   Anyway as I was across the river it would have been rude not to drop by HC on the way home!  and yes one or two reduced items asked to come home with me.

So being out most of the day was not sure I'd have time to craft, had this postcard going round in my head so had a play.   All the stamps are Tanda stamped in versafine and then brayered using Adirondack 'Rueberry'.   The map has been coloured with Whisper Pens and the train stamped twice and layered.

Of course the post card is my entry to the Fashionable Stamping Challenge which is Travelling around the world.

It's raining cats, never mind the dogs!

Just a dull old day yesterday not sure today will be any better but go out I must it may be that not a lot of crafting will get done we will have to see.

Have got this card to share with you today and again two challenges influenced my design.   Moving along with the Times are simply looking for Cats and Dogs and it can be either or.   No surprise I opted for Cats.   Play date cafe  always have great colour challenge's but it's not often I manage to join in.  This time the challenge is black and white with a splash of Teal, not having a teal Promarker I've used an approximation with an almost teal green hope it will be OK.

The Stamp is Hampton Arts stamped in Memento and just the backgrounds coloured.   Some black and white DP punched with MS round the page and some leaves punched from the same paper.   A couple of the cat images fill their square I've used Glossy Accents on their eyes.   No idea who made the sentiment stamp which is embossed with black ep.

Little blue and brown chest

Well I think I'm sorted now are you?   Even if there is a last minute card from someone I have not thought of its a bit late LOL Time now to just enjoy the season.

Allsorts this week have a colour challenge Blue and Brown.   Being in the mood for a little altering and 3d converted a plain little chest.   Coloured the box with Distress stain, walnut, and lined the inside with some blue crushed velvet.

Covered the top with Modelling paste and then lots and lots of broken watch parts which just stick in the drying paste topped it with Glamour Dust.   Wrapped some cord around the base of the box, and stamped keys on each of the ends.   Once the paste was dry some Viva Ferro spread over the top covering some of the watch parts and pulling a few out these now sit in the Viva paste.   The final element was Viva metallic blue/silver paint touched over the paste.

Sharing this little fun box with.

Last Minute card

There is almost always the need for a last minute card!   My new next door neighbours have a young daughter and as they gave me a card giving one in return was a must.

Like the Magician Santa this Holly fairy really appealed even if it is on the cute side, you need cute for Children don't you?   The main image is stamped onto a Nestie cut diamond shape and coloured with Promarkers and Sakura glitter pens.   The presents and other faeries are from both the Santa and this set of stamp's.

Really enjoyed colouring this one!

Had not intended to publish yet but hay ho would like to share this with just a couple (ok 3) challenges.

Music

If you had snow yesterday I hope it cleared or that you at least have safe footing.   If you went shopping yesterday gosh my bet is this week-end the shops will be packed.  As  you might guess I stayed home.

On to this card then, it is for the Less is More challenge this week, Music.   Cannot sign a note but love all sorts of music and quite a few music themed things to play with.    Decided to use a Dreamweaver stencil with embossing paste and a little mica powder mixed in.    Using a small alphabet set, perfect medium and the same mica powder stamped/wrote 'When I'm 64' and then edged the 64 with Sakura pen.    Still felt a little to bare and plonked so with tan colour ink re-applied the stencil above and below.

Blame the Wallpaper

We have a cat flap now! litter tray's are now outside think it will take a little while for all IMPs to accept the idea that they now have outside facilities!    At least i do not have to sit with the backdoor open waiting for any wanderers to return.

It has taken me a week to make this card, now I've found Rogue Redhead Challenge's it's a good one to try to join in with as it does stretch me a little.   This fortnight the challenge is to work in a grid pattern.  Could not workout a design at first until realizing that the answer was in the bedroom.   I've not decorated yet and so there is patterned paper greeting me each day and it is an off set diamond shape that I keep trying to fit together.   So time to use the diamond nestie set.

So far so good now onto images and as this is for Rogue Redheads more of Shar's own stamps this time from the Beach Babes plate looked good.   A that remained to be chosen was the colour scheme.   Colour Create and Everybody art have challenges of Blue, White and Silver and Blue and White so that sorted that, and hopefully makes this eligible for Scrapbook Sisters 2 colour challenge.

Bit cross with myself that the bottom shape moved slightly out of alignment did not realise until editing the photo by which time the glue had set.

Well it's the last week-end before Christmas, if you have to go out to the shops you might take a good craft magazine with you to read while you queue!

Festive Tag

Oh that big day is getting closer and closer and once again the weather is teasing us with the prospect of a white one.   All those last minute preparations should be all that remains now and soon it will be safe to go out to the shops again!

Popped the last present into the post yesterday wrapped in hand decorated paper and topped with this tag.

Glossy card run through the Big Shot in a cuttlebug folder and then trimmed.   Two parts of the embossed card were coloured with Kaleidacolor inks on a brayer and then stuck back to back.   The narrowest strip with the word noel dragged across the green ink on the pad.   The snowflake strip touched with glue pen and dipped into glitter.  The three tags held together with a brad.

Here is the tag on the package as it went into the post.   Christmas sorted well apart from making sure I have enough Beans for my feast of beans on toast next week.

I'm sharing this tag with Try it on Tuesday who are looking this week for our festive tags.   Anything goes Challenge have an anything goes fortnight with the option of Christmas tags.   Crazy Amigo's are looking for embossing.   Shopping our stash suggest we make a tag or incorporate one in our project.

Just for Fun - Summer

Our progress through the year continues this week at Just for Fun.   Another of the calendar pages as my sample, looking at July.

With Christmas now just days away it's time to start planning those Summer holidays.  Or it used to be, my memory is of holiday companies starting their advertising on TV on Boxing Day!    In a world as small as our's it is hard not to be aware of the significance of July, thinking especially of America and France.   Both nations share the Red White and Blue with us Brits and the feathers in my craft box just cried out to be used.

More basic gray backing paper on another side of the acrylic book.   Simply added one of Val's generous die cuts and slotted the feathers in.   Triple embossed the Tando 4 as the significant date and added the July calendar.

Summer this week at Just for For.   Once again Von and Neet have made samples of their own and in their own distinctive style we also have Neet's guest Ann with us this week and her sample is absolutely brilliant. Please do visit and share you Summer with us this week.

Craft-Room Challenge - Punches and Die Cuts

When Nikki suggested Die cuts and Punches for this fortnight's challenge it was another head in hands what on earth am i to do moment.   Still being in Christmas card mode my snowflake punches were lying around biding their time.  Punches! great I can use those.

The base cardstock and all the layers are from Kanban, they came from QVC with those lovely stamps I've used recently.   Of course they all fit together perfectly.    The snowflake and stars stamp and the holly one are really old foam backed just stamped with Memento ink.   The Santa is by Simple Stamps and coloured with ProMarkers and Sakura Glitter Pens.    Dots of white stickles here and there just bling it up.

As always the rest of the team have produced fantastic and utterly different samples to inspire you, pop over to Craft-Room Challenge to see them all.   It is worth joining in as well, if you display the shop logo and a link to Craft-Room on line shop you will be entered into the random draw, the winner gets £10 to spend at the shop.    We also have Blog Candy you can enter to win here this closes 24th December.

Still one or two Christmas challenges around LOL, I did it Creations Challenge say Santa is getting ready.   Catch the Bug say Santa Baby, while Crazy 4 Challengs sing out It's Santa.  Finally today So Artful have inspiration pictures of Santa with a theme of Tis the season.

Little old sewing box

I've been enjoying the Fashionable Stamping Challenges, a little grungy a little shabby chic and a little bit altered art.   The current fortnight is half way through but with other things it took me until Sunday to work on this.

The Challenge is Dressmaking/Corsets/Accessories.   This door hanger box cried out to me a little while ago demanding to be altered.     For the first part the back has been covered with fabric.

Then the back piece from the front patterned paper glued on and cut to fit.    Some yellow card measured to fit around the box part.   For the front I used Tanda's fabulous vintage sewing machine, you can find this stamp here.   Stamped in Memento and then coloured with Pro Markers.

The sides were stamped with Creative Expressions Vintage Sewing and coloured with ProMarkers.    The TH dress form die cut was from a blogland friend.   A little piece of TH tape measure ribbon, some lace and buttons a needle threaded with red cotton just appeared and had to be added.

Just about completed my Christmas makes and looking forward to playing around with inks and stuff.  Perhaps not alone in this as Totally Paper Crafts are asking us to share Anything but Christmas and so is the Corrosive Challenge.   This is my second entry to Cooking it up with Katie where it is anything goes until the new year, limited to three entries  per person.

Gold and Green

Creativity still firing on all cylinders here, it may be cold and frosty outside in here the ideas are flowing and the heat gun working hard to keep up!

Sue's latest Tanda Teaser is Green and Gold.   You do not have to use Tanda stamps you do not have to stamp to enter just have fun with the theme.    For this card I've used Mack Set 2 heat embossed on green card layered onto gold card.   The roses are from the same set.   One of my favourite images it speaks for itself and needs very little embellishment.

Allsorts challenge this week is to use just two colours but you are allowed a plain white base.  My base is a bit off white hope it  will pass.

Love the elegance of the Green Gold combination and so made a second card this time using the Thank you sentiment from Tanda's Art Nouveau Set 1   This was simply stamped and hear embossed onto green card, and again layered onto gold card.  A green mat cut to go behind with Martha Stewart punched corners.    Feathers just seem to match and suit the style.

A second entry then for Tanda
and a second entry to Gingersnaps Thank you notes
At Marks Finest Papers, Speedy the Cat is also looking for Thank you Cards.

Snowflakes

Saturday mornings even before we are washed and dressed lots of us go and check out the Less is More challenge.   We then spend time working out our response to the challenge.

This week the theme is Let it Snow and we are told that the Diva's are wanting to see snowflakes!   Well Snowflakes that's White on White right?    No! could not get WOW to work today for this challenge and believe me I tried.   Next idea and another favourite White on Black.   The stamps I've used are both Craft Stamper Cover stamps used with SU white ink and some Do craft ep called snowflake.    On the second card a few clear gems have been added to each snowflake.

A couple of other challenges I'd like to share these with.
Alphabet Challenge - White Christmas
Winter Wonderland - Let it Snow

Steampunk Tags

Yesterday I told you that there were challenges sparking lights in my brain!    Here are two tag shaped calendars made in response to Dragon's Dream TIO.   Why two? well it just would not all fit on one!

Calendars are very popular at the moment, well they do make great gifts and the little calendar booklets come in sets of 10.

This first tag uses cardboard base embossed with the cogs folder then overlaid with the TH clock mask and then coloured with Viva Inca Gold.    The dark mysterious Victorian gentlemen stamped onto  light card cut out and attached to the tag.    A pre-printed acetate added next with an eyelet.   The cogs, wings and flourish are all diecut from corrugated card with some of the top layer stripped off these were then sprayed with Glimmer Mist.    Tando Chipboard from the new lantern's set had a cellophane backing and is coloured with Sakura pen.   The key and the lock from two more new Tando sets were sprayed with Glimmer mist and then touched with Viva Ferro.

For this tag calendar the basic's were the same.   This time I used a Wendy V pocket watch cutout filled with corrugated cogs and little prima flowers.

In the local £ shop I found a roll of Non-Slip Mat, just knew there would be uses for it.    Used it here as an expression of modern industrial in comparison to the Victorian industrial age.   The knot in the cord used to tie the mat to the doweling is deliberate think of early invention held together with chewing gun and string.

These tags (well the base was carefully cut in a tag shape) are both for Frankie's challenge.

Gingersnaps Starry Skies

There are challenges around at the moment that have really got my juices flowing there is quite a list of projects beside me.   Will keep me occupied while I wait for the results of Thursday's interview.

Gingersnap Creations have designated December as Holiday Lights Month.   The first challenge of the month is Starry skies.   It took me minutes to visualize my card!    Glossy card stamped with the starry sky in Dazzle Versamark and then Nick Bantock inks blended over the top of the card and a window shaped stencil.   The darker the ink became the clearer the heavenly bodies.   Onto plain white cardstock some papermaina Christmas printed vellum.   Rogue Redhead stamp of a girl reading has been brought indoors and the tree became a curtain, and the root mound below a cushion to sit on.   The girl's dress is from an old dp pack the rest of her and her book coloured with ProMarkers.

Not perfect by far but I'm still pleased with how it came out.

Divas by design have an Anything Goes Challenge this time guess this fits!
Paper take Weekly also have any Anything Goes Challenge with the optional extra of something dangly

Just for Fun - Spring

Still making your Christmas cards and decorations?   Getting a bit of Festivities overload?   Have a break from it all, let your Mojo run free in your stash and join us at Just for Fun with our Spring Challenge.  Yes this week we challenge you to make something that represents the second, and some would say the best, season of the year.

All those buds and early flowers, the blossom and fresh green's.   Bird song, nest building and first chicks.   New life exploding all over the place the sun is getting warmer and the days growing longer.   This week then look forward just a few short weeks to the coming light days.  Oh and the return of F1 but if its only on Sky sport well that's another post.

I've used more basic grey paper for the May page of my calendar book topped with two Tando Butterflies.   The chipboard has been stamped and heat embossed, the design was then filled in with Sakura glitter pens.   You can see it reasonably well on the white lined one but unfortunately it is not so clear on the other one.   In the flesh these butterflies glimmer and shimmer almost blindingly.

Spring at Just for Fun this week then.

Magician Christmas

Absolutely fell in love with this stamp set at the week-end such a different Father Christmas.    All the origin's of this character are a mystery a bit of Green Man some St. Nicholas and who knows who else.  This image captures some of this mystery, at least for me and I suspect there is more than a dash of Merlin in the design.

Well I do still need one or two cards and this had to be one.   Stamped in Brilliance Lightening Black and coloured with a mixture of Whisper pens and Sakura.

It just happens that Try it on Tuesday have a new challenge today, they want cards with images of 'The Big Man' on them.

Other Challenges
Create me Pink - Must use Red Green and either Silver or Gold
Creative Card Crew - 'Tis the Season

Getting there one card at a time

Not a lot of crafting got done yesterday, it was time to start writing all those cards and working out how many more I need good thing this month is not into double digits yet!

This card is CAS and compared to yesterday's it is positively naked!   The Personal Impressions holly and berry stamp is an old favourite sometimes I make two or three impressions and decoupage them up.   This time I've kept it simple just stamped and coloured it with ProMarkers.   Some Sakura clear glaze adds shine to the leaves the berries have Crackle Accents to highlight them.   The greeting has just been heat embossed, and around the top edges some DI Iced Spruce it was just to stark without it.

Chrissie and Mandi might let this one pass as a CAS card will have to see what they say at Less is More.

Still playing catch up with my Christmas Cards

Did I say CAS was the way to go? got sidetracked there somehow!

This card was inspired by all the challenge's with the theme of non-traditional colours, snowflakes, punches and Circles.   I'll list them at the end of the post.

In your tucked away old stash do you have a box or two of Papermaina shapes?   Something that seemed like a good idea at the time but perhaps never proved as useful as you thought? I have!    The circles  came in useful for this card.  The solid one has been stamped with one of this year's Craft Stamper's cover stamps that is also a circle.   The snowflakes have been punched from a couple of punches and everything stuck down after being run through a zyron sticker maker.   There is always a bit of glue on the edges after using that tool so I pressed dark blue glitter into it for added sparkle.     The buttons added with Glossy accents add more circles and non traditional colours.

The Challenge's in mind for the making of this are;
Allsorts - Circles
Craft your Days away - Buttons or bows
One stop Craft - Let it Snow
Suger Creek Hollow - Non Traditional colours
Sweet Stampin' - Snowflakes (or Snowmen or Snow or....)
By the cute and girly - Let it snow
Emerald Faerie Garden - Non Traditional colours
Crop Stop - Punches
The Crafty Pad - Punch shapes
2 Sisters - Punches

Liz wants gloves!

Before sharing one of the last minute panic Christmas card I made yesterday thought I'd share the gift of un-embellished metal pieces Liz Welch sent me yesterday and the fab picture of one of her Masks.   Liz knows I a bit of a fan of her oozing technique and these filigree pieces will be brilliant for using with FP.   Thank you Liz.   If you have any gloves that you no longer use Liz is waiting to give them a home see full details of her search here.

Still using my stock of shiny card I took inspiration yesterday from Less is More's challenge of Green.    By now with some cards still to make I can be heard muttering Thank goodness for CAS cards!   Might revisit some of their earlier challenges to get finished in time!

Embossed card with nestie, stamped and embossed the HOTP tree with Cosmic Shimmer.   Glittery green ribbon for the bow and down the edge, I like using ribbon down the edge and here it gave balance.  Finally a sticky back gem.

Tando Wings and Hearts

Di sent out some of her new design's recently, great to have new shapes to play with.

This canvas uses her Wings and Hearts set and there are still more wings and hearts left over.   Just love how these pieces fell into the curvy female shape so easy to work out what to do.

Base canvas coloured with Lumiere paints quickly spread to leave texture and some of the canvas showing.

The separate wings, the heart and the smaller paired wings were embossed in a folder and the Big Shot.   The larger wings at rest have been stamped, heat embossed and coloured with glitter gel pens.   The embossed pieces coloured with metallic rub on paste and then touched over the top with a contrast.    The same paste pushed through the cogs mask directly onto the canvas.

I wish you could see the sparkle but that is so bright is obscures the design.

Lots of other new designs  being introduced regularly check out the stockist list to find out where you can discover them.
