What a day!

A little while ago The Stamp Man posted they would be at a show in Leeds organised by Ross Papercraft Shows.    Seeing this I went for a nosey and learnt that there would be a Ross Papercraft Show today in Hull.

Today I went, easy access, easy parking and fabulous venue light airy with room for heaps more stands.   Hopefully as Peeps learn about these shows they will go and support them.

Had a good mooch round finding interesting this is and that's.   Stopped at the Stamp Man stand had a lovely chat with Ian and then went to watch Jill demonstrate.    Jill and Ian both remembered me from previous shows (I've only met them twice before) Jill even remembered my name!!! blown away or what!   We had a lovely chat and then tongue in cheek I said if ever you need someone on your team I'd love it.  To which Jill replied consider yourself hired!!!!   Now I'm torn between wanting to do a jig, shout for joy, hug Jill and wake up!

Wondered around the show a little more and then went back to the Stamp Man to collect a few stamped images Jill has given me.   Oh and take Ian a pint of bitter but that is another story (never dare a dare devil).   Just bidding them farewell when my name is announced I had just won the prize draw! £20 to spend at the show, you can guess which stand I spent it at LOL.    Capping the day off Ian agreed to let me take a picture of Jill and him.

We agreed to do it as an fly on the wall shot but just as I was getting them framed a chap stood in front of me!   So the shot is of a slightly dis-believing Jill checking that Ian had agreed to this!   Which I promised would not appear on Face book.

A very happy and excited Zoechaos then drove home.   And altered the box you see at the top of this rather long post.  In honour of the occasion everything I've used has come from The Stampman, moon glow sprays and ep.  Aspects of Design Stamps and the very delicious Stampendous aged and shabby powders.

Fashionable Stamping are celebrating their first birthday with an Anything goes Challenge so I'm sharing this box with them.

The Stamp Man challenge has a Anything Goes Celebration theme, given the circumstances I'm hoping this box will qualify.

Come and Get it Challenge want anything but a card, they might my box!

The Crafty Pad Designs theme is Things with Wings

Think I'd better go and check my lottery ticket LOL

Update, still  not checked the ticket but have corrected this post Malcolm's name is Ian LOL

Something a little different for me!

Did you watch the Olympic Ceremony last evening?  I did and that in itself was un-usual for me, it was worth it if only to see HM The Queen being such a sport! Then the cauldron that was inspired.

Had some chores to do so crafting had to wait until this evening. It's times like this that I'm especially grateful to Less is More their  CAS requirements provide the opportunity to a quick crafting fix.   This week they have a sketch, this might be the first time I've used a sketch!

Checking Craft-Room entries today came across a colour scheme that would never occur to me Yellow and Orange at Totally Paper Crafts.   This is a hot combination and totally our of my comfort zone but fun to play around with.

Not my best effort but hopefully its opened the creativity channels.

Craft-Room - Buttons and Bows

Well the fortnight flew by!  They were my first 2 weeks at a new job and the good news is I'm enjoying it.  In fact the move from Hampshire to Grimsby (Lincolnshire) has proved to have been the right thing all round for me.

A new Craft-Room Challenge starts today.  Our lovely Debi has set the theme and is looking for Buttons and Bows.   Our sponsor this time is Rarebird who have put forward a fab jewellery making kit with Friendly Plastic for the winner of the random draw.

Friendly plastic is great fun to play with, I used lots of real buttons and FP on this canvas.   No surprise that the piece is sky inspired, again.  Firstly Watercolour Pearlescent paint used on pre-gessoed canvas setting both the blue and pink/purple sky and calm grey sea reflecting the sky.   Buttons glued over the paint following the lines of the patterns.    FP triangles make bows/birds, silver FP forms the crests of the waves and a multicoloured FP setting sun shines over it all.

As always the terrific Craft-Room team have made marvelous samples to inspire your creativity.   We all hope you will join us this time with your Button and Bow projects.

Of course there are other challenges to share this with
Dream Valley Challenges - Summer (my abstract is definitely Summer inspired)
Inspire me Fridays - Always Anything Goes
Phindy's Place - Button it
Moving along with the times - Pink, Pearly and Pretty

Tando Creative Blog Hop

Good Morning and welcome to a very exciting event, the very first ever Tando Creative Blog Hop.   First it may be but it will by no means be the last indeed they will be regular different events with different members of the DT joining in and varying numbers of stops along the way.

There will be a prize draw for everyone who comments at all the stops so do please leave a note that you were here! I love the product it is so versatile, this time we are showcasing the bookplates.  They come in two sizes I've used the small and now it's time to own up to my tiny mistake.   I had this great idea to make decanter tags even made backings for the book plates with Tando packaging.   It was a few days before I got back to the project when the time came I could not remember my plan and so they became another necklace LOL.

Sprayed the bookplates and the backing with Cosmic Shimmer.   Stamped the bookplates and heat embossed the image.   The backings were stamped and embossed with white ep.

To carry on with the hop you should have come here from Irit and your next stop is Kaz.   If you are just discovering the hop you can head back to Tando Creative to see the full list of stops.   Thank you for visiting, enjoy the hop and good luck in the draw.

A good week-end

Well it is here!   Sky sport is free on Virgin this week-end with both Hickstead and the German F1 that's a real treat.    Catching up on the Roy Orbison shows on BBC4 recently, I'm in haven.

And a little crafting ......

Less is More this one was tough I don't sew and the challenge is to do just that!   Good thing I've got a basic single track sew easy as well as thread and a needle.   Buttons and ribbon well what craft has not got those.

So Mrs Chrissie and Mrs Mandi here is my effort. nothing like as good as the other entries I've seen there are some stunning responses, as always, to your challenge.   But never let it be said I do not rise to a challenge LOL

Texture at Tando Creative Challenge

Have you seen the challenge this month at Tando Creative Challenge?   For July it is all about texture! now you know how I love texture.

This pendent is my sample.   Di is releasing new designs all the time and a little while ago she launched these pretty leaf inspired pieces.  Each piece fits inside a 1.5 inch square.   Each piece was decorated and then the three were stuck together.   I've used paint, gilding, crackle glaze and dimension paste on these and then added some wire and some bling.    The cord is plaited twisted sari silk.

Texture n structure, feel or consistency have you got something textural to share with us?

Just thought I'd share this with Altered Elusions, whose challenge this month is Anything Goes.   Another challenge I'd like to share with is Dream Valley Challenges - Anything but square.

Sometimes you just have to

Sometimes you come across a challenge that you just have to have a go at.  I came across 3 at the week-end.  1 Allsorts is on the Saturday list, 2 Fashionable Stamping I had thought was on its 2nd week until one of the team published and i saw her fab piece. 3 Vintage Artisans is a new challenge that I stumbled upon.

Allsorts challenges us to take inspiration from the challenge pieces that Brenda sent to all the DT.   The items included a clock die cut and also bird and bird cage die cuts.   Lots of other things as well but those stuck in my mind.

Fashionable Stamping, always look for rubber stamping.   This fortnight their challenge is to get Messy and Inky.

Vintage Artisans, a fortnightly challenge this is their second one with a theme of Vintage Steampunk.

So inspired, messy and inky steampunk it is!   Steampunk always puts me in mind of machinery replacing  flesh and blood, maybe with some secret surprise tucked up their sleeve.   The background is a TH clock mask coloured over with ink dusters, then the street light stamped, the Lady the Bird and finally two cog stamps.   Colouring involved ProMarkers and Whisper Pens, glue pen followed some of the stamped designs then shabby pink embossing powder sprinkled over.   Finally DI in walnut stain brushed around the edges.

Well that was my Monday evening, what did you do with yours?

Gone Rogue!

As Shar might say LOL

It was Summer here today although I think we revert to rain again tomorrow.   Still its always nice to get the washing on the line, if chores kept me indoors before it got to hot to go out LOL.   And I missed the Archers! which was supposed to be especially exciting this week.

When the Less is More challenge was set this week Rogue Redhead Designs Milliners Girls sprang to mind.   The Challenge is a one layer card (aren't all CAS cards on layer?) with a theme of 3.  3 Images or Stamps, 3 Colours 3's of anything and or the number 3.    The girls have been coloured with Whisper pens the same 3 colours used to scribble 3 lines around the corner.

Then it was time to get a little messy.   This time the Rogue Redhead Designs challenge is Distressed Greens.   Now Green happens to be my favourite colour so this had to be done.   The photo has dulled down some of the greens but not the Washi tape!  Adirondack inks added with Ink Dusters, DI's sponged on in the traditional manner.   The girl reading in the garden is of course a Rogue Redhead Design, stamped onto a die cut square.

In the stationers the other day I discovered Pritt Stick in Green, and it dries green.   Used it here top and bottom and sprinkled glass chips over it at the bottom and a few more at the top.   DI added next resisted by the Pritt Stick glue adding a new effect to the distressing.

The Birds ........

Nothing like as scary as the film, that still gives me chills.

I made up a layered arch piece a while ago, left  some inner shapes that were painted with Gesso.   These were coloured with Distress Inks and Distress Stains.   They were then stamped and linked with DS tape covered with gilding flakes and Washi tape.

The 3 birds at the tops of the arches are coloured with Distress Stain and then stamped.   The other 2 are coloured with Distress inks.   Finally for texture  Viva Croco and Stampendous glitters and flakes.

All Tando Creative Chipboard of course!

Gold

Wednesday 11th July, first day of a new job, been making the most of my 2 days break between the old and the new.  The very wet weather not withstanding I've been exploring the area a little more.   Still managed a moment or two in the playing.

Less is More have a colour challenge this week 'gold'.   Off white and gold one of those combinations that needs very little to make it very 'dressy'.   A couple of die cuts, a feather a sentiment stamped in gold and some bling.

Try it on Tuesday have a Bingo card challenge with a twist you have to add a butterfly!   I've gone for the down line, Die cut, Bling, Feather.   Nice to join in with you all again folks.

Craft-Room - Sport

Thank you all for another terrific response to our last challenge which had the theme of Friendship we always enjoy visiting your blogs and great a great kick out of your response.
Mervi has chosen this fortnight's Craft-Room Challenge which is sponsored by Tanda Stamps

Mervi's theme this time is Sport, with the Olympics this year it feels like an excellent choice.    It was also my neighbours birthday recently this is the card i made for him, he has been feeling a bit sensitive it being his 40th and all.

DL card  on its side, HOTP provided the musical background and the 4 - 0 score.   The football pitch is Tando Chipboard, as its white lined there was nothing I needed to do to it except stick it to the green card mat.    The greeting and the hairy leg are from Tanda stamps, coloured with ProMarkers.

Looking forward now to seeing your Sport themed projects, where should you share them at Craft-Room Challenge of course.

The Tando Teaser for the next 4 weeks is Olympic Sport, Olympic Football might not be the biggest football competition in the world I bet the players and game officials are thrilled to be part of it.

Fashionable Stamping Oriental

One more day of work and I finish at CKN whoopie!  Then on Wednesday I start my new job at Youngs.  Getting de-mob happy :) and it may be that the weather is improving.

The current challenge at Fashionable Stamping is Oriental, and I louve Oriental.   The main stamp here is a recent acquisition full of glorious detail, stamped here in Stayzon onto golden vellum.  A wonderful new spellbinder die to cut with gold mirror card layered over graduated red mat.   Base card black stamped in white (another favourite white ink on black card) some ribbon, a coin and a Memory Box die cut Tissue and paper.

Just wondering if there were any other challenge's this might fit and remembered Stampalot Challenge whose July challenge is Your Favourite Technique.   You are only allowed one entry to this challenge so it is a real toughie, Stamping is my firm long time favourite and as mentioned stamping in white on black is another.

Tando and the colours of Summer

All this week at Tando Creative we have been celebrating the Colours of Summer.    It might be old age, or the Jubilee and Olympics bring the spot light back to GB, but somehow my inspiration came from the Swinging '60's.   The '60's took us from decades of drab into an explosion of youth and colour, hence these colours and the flowers.

My canvas was first coloured with Water Soluble wax pastels.   The Tando Chip board shapes have been coloured with ProMarkers, Sakura Glitter Gel pens and Rub on's.   Tando Butterfly masks laid onto the canvas and covered with Dreamweaver embossing paste, with the Paste still wet paper flowers coloured with Glimmer Mist and acrylic paint were pushed into it.   Then the Tando shapes added adhered with the paste and glue.   The phone box stands proud on sticky pads.

Summer sun continues to elude us and maybe memory deceives but those summers seem now to have been long and sunny and fun.

It just so happens that Oozak have a challenge to use Bright Colours so I'm entering this in their challenge.

Unruly Beachbag

You might have guessed that I've been quite busy recently with projects for the team!    This is another of those.

July at Unruly is all about 'Catchin' the Wave' with lots of seaside and water themed projects and techniques to share.   Of course there are two great Art Quests for everyone to join in and you get to vote for your favourite entries.

I've made a sample for the first of this months Art Quests which is themed 'Beach'.   Well if you are going to the beach you'll need a bag for all those bits and bobs.    This simple cotton bag has been in need of livening up for a while.   First it was coloured with a brayer and Big and Juicy inks.   Probably not a good idea to get it wet then!    The images were applied using Transfer Artist Paper, there are lots of image transfer techniques I prefer this one because it does not require you to rub the skin off the ends of your fingers!

Here in the UK you might not fancy the beach too much, but you can dream.  We hope you will  have a crafty beach dream to share with us at Unruly Paper Arts.

Of course there are other challenges around who might like my Beach Bag;
Inky Impressions - Beach Fun
Inspire me Friday's - Always anything goes
Suger Creek Hollow - Vintage Children
