CAS

Still playing around and dreaming of Spring.

Two Saturday challenges caught my eye

Less is More - Use Beads
Addicted to CAS - Spring

Diecut butterfly coloured with Promarkers & yes I chose those colours.    A Tando Creative flower head coloured with Art Quest Shimmer paints.   Some wire (Purple) wrapped round a pencil with little beads threaded onto the spring.   Silicon glue holds everything together.   Waiting for the glue to go off was the longest part of this creation.

Tag Time

Checking out my email this morning there was one from UK Stampers reminding peeps about their current competition.  I've not visited the group for ages but something about a tag with eggs on it stirred my imagination.

I was already thinking of making a tag, they are so much fun to do.   Now I had a subject to base it on.   I've still got some old clock cards and decided to use one of these cutting it with my TH tag die, the edge was then die cut again with one of the TH edge dies.

A trawl through my stamps located a Prima set with egg images, a Magenta bee and a Stampendous image of the nesting birds.   Using the reverse of another clock card the eggs were stamped in Brilliance ink, Sky Blue.   The main image stamped in brown Momento and coloured with Promarkers.    Some Art Quest distressed dst and glitter added to the frame of the image and the smaller of the eggs added to their nest.  Florist moss stuck to the lower part of the tag with the other eggs nested in it.  The bee stamped directly onto the tag.

The idea of a Tag came from Crafting by Design who are looking at tags this time.   I love Promarkers have an anything goes with Promarkers challenge, as Promarkers are my colour pens of choice why don't I enter this challenge more often?   Finally Addicted to Stamps who have asked for entries coloured with Markers.

Thought I'd also share this with
Happy Campers - Add Dimension
Simon Says Stamp - Spring/Easter
Papercraft - Birds

Now there are stacks and stacks of spring challenges at the moment but I've resisted!

Now as snow stopped me going to the NEC and it is to windy for this little old lady to go out practicing on her bike what to do?

Craft-Room - In the Garden, anything but a Card

Oh look I'm back again!   Well yes it's Tuesday and the start of a new challenge at Craft-Room Challenge.  First a thank you to everyone who entered my gift giving challenge, my challenge now is to choose just 3 as my top picks 'twill not be easy I assure you.

This time Suzanne is our hostess and she has selected In the Garden - Anything but a card as her theme.   That's right for the second challenge running we are excluding cards, but you all proved last time that you all do a lot more than just cards.

For years now I've been meaning to alter an Altoids Tin.   The little mints that fill these tins are very enjoyable as well.   This then is the first attempt.   Designer papers cut to fit inside and cover the lid.   The first set of La Blance stamps i got from QVC were little floral images two of the smallest block stamps were used here stamped in grey and fussy cut.   Reindeer moss on the bottom of the upright tin made it easier to stick these in raised off the base.   The same stamps with stayzon colours used on plastic shapes, the two on the inside of the lid have been given stems of twisted sari silk.
A little Tando Bird and a metal bee charm bring the last elements of a summer garden to the tin's inside. not showing in the pictures is the outside edge of the base which was white, a little green and pink Alcohol Ink brings the garden feel to the sides.

Then the lid.   Before sticking the paper some green lace was attached around the rim, then the paper then  a hand tied bow of the same lace.  Little paper flowers and self adhesive gems and a ribbon flower bring more of the garden to the piece as does the metal charm butterfly.  Did you spot the key? Well it is a secret garden after all.
Another great Craft-Room Challenge for you to have a little think about, we are all keen to see what you do and if you need more inspiration take a look at the wonderful things my teamies have made.

I'm entering this in
Heck of a Challenge - Spring/Butterflies and Pearls
The Craft Garden - Monet's Garden
2 Sisters - Flowers for Spring
Anything but a Card - Spring/Spring Colours or Alice in Wonderland

Yep the muse is waking must be spring!

You would not believe it looking at this but i have inky fingers. Had a play this morning with my Gelli pad.   It was first inked with DI the pad tapped all over it and then a small hard red brayer used to spread the ink.   Floral, Swirl stamps laid over the ink gently pressed in then lifted, card placed over pad and brayer used to press card onto pad evenly.    Mat for this card cut from result.

Blank white card stamped with same floral swirls in pink.   Another price of white card trimmed to fit under the sentiment stamped topper and the edges lightly dusted in the same pink.   The sentiment stamped and embossed onto designer card but with a spellbinder die.   The matted sentiment is raised on pads and a couple of dried flower sprays make the filling of the card sandwich.

Before undertaking this little play I was out on my new bike, just cycling round the estate it has been more than 40 years since i used to get around on 2 wheels.    There is talk of a cycle ride from Deeside to Grimsby later in the year something I quite fancy being part of.   So a lot of practice is needed if that ambition is to be realised.   And yes I did fall off, twice something to do with my stopping technique hopefully that will improve sooner rather than later.    Anyway rain stopped play, now I'm watching the highlights of the Australian GP.

Inspiration for this card,

Fashionable Stamping - Swirls

Now what can I get up to?

I made a card!

Well it has been a while since I spontaneously made a card but today on waking the urge was with me.   So the first thing was to check out Less is More!   Their theme this week is Frame it.

Time then to get on with household chores, fail completely to talk to Virgin which is another story about a dissatisfied customer I'll not bore you.  Then that Saturday list which is so much fun to do.

Finally time to play.   A frame mask DI ink and one of those magic dusters.   Then this lovely Spring image in brown coloured with ProMarkers.

Of course I am entering this into the LIM challenge and in addition
Colour me Creative - Spring Colours
Paper Creator's Crafts - Spring has Sprung
Addicted to CAS - Wings

Suspect I'll have more to blog soon.

Craft Room Challenge - from me to You

Morning, it's that time again a new Craft-Room Challenge and this time I am your host.   It is so much fun being part of the Craft-Room team, I am continually surprised by the inspiration and diversity the group brings to each challenge.    This time is no exception take a look at the fantastic samples they have all produced.

We were going to be sponsored this time by Tanda Stamps but as you might know the business closed about a month ago.   We do have the stamps that still for the prize and to that I am adding my sample this time.   Oh you want to know the theme? 'From me to You' a gift that you have made for someone else.

It has been quite awhile since I last decorated a mask, and the blank for this one has been with me since before the move.   Unlike previous masks this one is plastic, making it a different and slightly more difficult to colour.    The eye and cheek are covered with a single layer of napkin.   In the past I've used wet glue to stick napkins, messy and unreliable method.  This time I used Art Quest glue that dries tacky painting it all over the mask blank, once it had settled to a tacky surface the tissue laid onto it and smoothed.   Much easier and the result is so much better so that's another lesson learnt more of the same glue used over the top to seal the tissue.   With an overall tacky mask Perfect Pearls was brushed over colouring both uncovered and covered surface.   The leaves on the printed napkin were painted in green, with Art Quest shimmer paint.   Some gold/green card die cut with a floral border this covers the join of tissue to plain surface.   The little butterfly is one of my older and much loved stamps, stamped onto fusion fibers and then carefully cut out.   Pearls, feathers, and ribbon complete the project.

A simple challenge then and fun, it always is to make and give a gift.   If you have something in mind please take up the challenge and share your gift for someone with us.

I would like to share this with

Add an ATC - Unruly PaperArts RAQ

Another month, another month of great inspiration at Unruly PaperArts.   March is focused on ATC's those little calling card sized works of art.   As always there are two Readers Art Quests for you to join in, and we love having you join in you get to select the winners as well.

One of these is to add an ATC simple yes just create your own little 2.5" x 3.5" work of art and attach it to anything else.

Been an age since I last made an ATC but that is one of the joys of RAQ's and other challenges, they remind us of technique's and styles we have been neglecting!  And sometimes open new avenues of creativity.

For my project I used Graphic 45 card, from their calendar pad.   February was sacrificed and April provided the base card.    With a blank ATC and Brown Memento ink a very detailed Aries image was stamped and coloured with a mixture of coloured pens.   A few Aries facts have been jotted on the back.   Not quite the usual back to an ATC but is this is part of a card the idea was to add interest.    April's card stock simply folded in half, one of the flourishes from February fussy cat and attached at the edges to make a pocket for the ATC.     The sentiment from Dimension  Forth (I think) also stamped in brown.
Inside the months motif gives a beautiful spring fresh feel.   This is echoed by the stamped snowdrops, a little late for snowdrops really but they are one of my favourite flowers so it had to be done.   These were coloured with Sakura pens.   Happy Birthday is an old Hot off the Press stamp, nothing else needed.

Been a while since you made an ATC go on you know you are seriously tempted to join in.
