Strong Woman

Strong, iconic women have always attracted me.   I've been working on my family tree recently and the lack of place for women in Victorian/Edwardian society is marked by the lack of information gathered in the census.    We forget how recent our independence is, at the beginning of the last century we did not have the vote and our property became our husbands on marriage.   During both WW1 and WW2 women were needed as workers but once the wars were over and the men allowed to return we had to be sent home.   Look at the advertising for domestic things in the years following these wars.

Now we have the vote and opportunities unthought of a generation or two ago.   They were hard won and it was the fight, work and sacrifice made by strong women that got us the rights and privileges we enjoy today.

The two Creative Expression stamps used here represent that female power for me.   They are a pair showing I think the two sides of one person.   On a lighter side they remind me of a very old low budget film 'She'.   The She in question had achieved immortality by walking through a special blue fire that only occurred at certain/special times.

Stamped in versa mark blue onto a white postcard blank.   The flourish background stamped in Weathered Wood DI.  Some colouring to the images in shades of blue and just the one natural shade for skin tone.   The versa mark blue rubbed round the edge of the card and stormy sky brushed over the white card to make the main subject(s) pop even more.

I'm entering this into
613 Avenue - Stylish and Elegant
Glitter and Sparkle - Monochrome (I saw a little skin tone in the samples so fingers crossed)
Addicted to Stamps - Masculine (They like a strong woman)
Just us Girls - Colour Dark Blue, Light Blue and White (I did spot a little more colour on one of the samples so hoping the skin tone is OK)
Graph it - 2nd entry Winter Blues
The Friday Mash Up - Colour challenge

Craft Stamper Make it Take it - Anything goes with rubber stamping

Its cold here, think I need to go and cuddle a radiator or something.
