I used a book page!

One technique in our wonderful diverse ever growing crafting community that I struggle with is the tearing of books.  So knowing the challenge this fortnight at Try it on Tuesday  is Use Book Pages it seemed that once again I'd not join in.   Then the answer showed itself, the London A - Z used previously.  The book is something like 30 years old so completely out of date no problems taking pages out of this.

It all started with the Crafty Individuals dragonfly in a circle stamp.   I used vellum and gold embossing for this, the floral part of the design coloured with ProMarkers.  A circle of green DP was to go below it.   Next a rummage through my printed paper mountain provided the perfect back ground.  The intention was to use some distressed paper from the book as a mat for the  topper to sit on.   Having some scraps of paper from the same set that provided the background, floral flourishes were cut out.

Laying all these out I did not like the result, perhaps if the book page was removed and the flourishes die cut from another page?  Duly cut these were put through my Xyron to make them stickers.   The paper is so fragile that trying to take the new stickers off the backing tore them.

What if the book page becomes the base poking out from under the DP previously used as the background.  Is that really enough book for the challenge?   What if the green die cut circle is replaced with one cut from a book page?   Liking that idea 2 circles were cut with the intention of the best being used.  One side of the page used was it turned out a diagram of St Pauls, that decided it both circles would be used overlapping.   The rest; 3 stamped and embossed dragonflies, the tear on the DP, the green lace and the original die cut flourishes were natural progression once the basic design was settled.
