Probably most of us share our creativity on our blogs because we know our crafting peers will appreciate the work that goes into each project we share. To be selected by a design team as worthy of mention means a lot to us all and we share the badges awarded with pride. Mine are on a page of their own and as I add each one it gives me pleasure and satisfaction.
To be selected as a Winner, the top pick for that challenge is extra special, when you are then invited to be a Guest Designer on a future challenge you want to go all out and pull out all the stops. I know you know what I'm talking about. It happened to me in July and here I am
and proud of it.
This is the prompt for the new challenge that starts today 1st September.
September a prompt? Yes and what an inspiring one it is. What goes on in your world this month, Children go back to school? Someone special has a birthday? The Autumn Equinox (northern hemisphere) Spring Equinox (Southern hemisphere). Birthstone Sapphire, flowers Forget me Not, Morning Glory, Star signs Virgo and Libra. The week of the Sunday before 23rd is Bisexual Awareness Week! And in New Zealand today (1st September) is Random Act of Kindness day.
15th September is Battle of Briton Day. The Battle of Briton took place in the skies over this island and it's surrounding waters. Living on the East Coast of the island we are surrounded by airfields, some disused others still very active with the Royal Air Force. You know when one of their planes, or a flight of military planes flys over the noise is unlike any other. Imagine how it must have been 80 years ago when (the then) enemy planes were approaching our shores intent on bombing our airfields, our harbours and docks or anywhere else they had identified as legitimate targets. An alarm would go off and our fighter pilots would rush out to their aircraft to engage with the enemy planes.
A lot of people died in those aerial ballets with bullets.
My Calendar page for September 2021 is a tribute to all of them British, Allied, or Otherwise.
Of course CASology is the name of the challenge so this needed to be a Clean and Simple project. I stamped the airplane (a Magazine stamp) and masked it. The Union Jack stencil laid over the top and lightly outlined in pencil. Royal Blue and Poppy Red ProMarkers coloured the flag, the white sections left untouched so they connect to the wide white border. The plane has also been coloured with ProMarkers 3 or 4 shades of grey, finished with a little Alchemy wax in silver on the wing edges, the propellers and dragged along the front fuselage.
Asked for a Design Defined statement the reply is: “A single image and strong colours give visual impact without embellishment.”
How will you use the prompt for your creativity? The team are always eager to see what their challenge players make.
Now I would like to share this with:
