Still in Shabby Chic mode

Izzy is getting more and more comfortable with things now.  This week end should be interesting, her parents are away and she is looking after the family dog.   I am so proud of her she has not allowed her inner emotional turmoil to effect her at work.

It has given me the opportunity to get back into the craft room, mind you with the walking I am going to have to adjust my routine.  The walking and time spent on that is interfering with my craft!

Still yesterday I started this, it continued in the evening while chatting to Izzy and then completed this morning.

A few days ago i thinly spread some Pretty gets Gritty "Resist Texture Paste" over a piece of pearlised card.   I already know that it resits "wet" paint but was curious to see how it reacts to stamping ink and alcohol ink pens.  Yesterday casting about for my project the "Rosa Rosaceae" PXS stamp suggested it's self.  This stamp is not dated but I got it Pre Loved about 5 years ago.   Creating a 3D decoupage piece appealed something I've not done for a while and it is a lot of fun to do.

Decision taken a die cut provided both the base mate and the frame.

Image stamped in Memento Bamboo Leaves onto the resist prepped card.  Ink left to settle and dry, in the mean time image stamped 3 more times onto paper.   Colouring the initial stamped image with Chameleon Pens it was a surprise to realise that on the resist surface the detail lines lifted so care was needed not to lose the image outline.   Sections of the 3 duplicate stamp impressions were coloured with the same pens and fussy cut.  3D flower assembled with sticky pads.

Next the main board, this fancy shape that I've had for about 8 years.  It was covered with some even older Hot of the Press paper.  Last evening the 3D section was attached; feathers and lace tested but all this was under electric light, it was great this morning to see everything went so well together.  I've had to cut up a Tando Stencil to be able to use it here with Sweet Poppy embossing paste in pastel green.  Clear beads dropped into the wet paste for a little extra interest and texture.

Finishing touch a pair of wings charms.   Another little piece of art to hang somewhere in the house.

Challenges;

Mixed Media Place - Always a mood board.  The first thing that struck me on this one was the dew suspended on a web, very seasonal and charming.  Then there are the colours lush greens and blues, they always turn me on.

As you Like it - Brights or Pastels.  Cool calm colours are my go to choices my pieces do tend to be more subtle.

Retro Rubber - #144 Anything Goes with a stamp more than 1 year old.  Well it has been quite a few years since PSX were offering stamps.

International Art and Soul - #92 Tic Tac Toe.  I've used Green, a Die, a Stencil

613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes with Option use a charm, the wings attached at the bottom.

Well I'm very pleased with the result.  Stay safe, Keep Well, Follow the rules, and HAVE FUN

  1. Sure is a wonderful piece of art to hang in your home Zoe x. It is so pretty and I love the attention to detail with the clear beads in the pastel embossing paste. I think it would be really hard to walk 1000 every hour and good on you x. So glad that Izzy is a little more settled x.

  4. Your card is not a style that I do but I certainly can appreciate the beauty of it! The colour combination is lovely and all the elements are so harmoniously placed! Even though there's a lot going on, each elements adds to the whole, rather than competing with each other and I suspect that's the skill of a card like this. It's a beautiful project and thank you for joining in with us at Retro Rubber Challenge.
