This is something that was real fun todo.

This little canvas is 4 3/4 inches by 6 1/4 inches.  Inspired by the new challenge at Mixed Media Place and their mood board.

The section top left first drew me in, the white and warm gold colour scheme as well as the all the pretty dried flowers.  Of course the idea of pearls middle bottom influenced my choices as well.  This was one of two projects on the go taking turn and turn about as things dried but I don't think much here has been transferred from the other project.

First an A4 sheet of paper (UK size) cut down into smaller pieces, one side of each given a scallop edge.  These were then laid one on top slightly pulled back from the one below.  Then the whole canvas including the layers of paper painted with white gesso.   Next white embossing paste mixed with some antique gold perfect pearls and applied through a stencil gold coloured crushed glass sprinkled over to dry into it.

Using gold ink and some Elusive Images I stamped onto more white paper and vellum.  Paper images stuck behind vellum with the same image to give more depth and dimension.   Before attaching these to the canvas a layer of white embossing paste spread over the bare part and then some white mesh laid over.  The vellum and paper stamped images were then placed over the top in layers.

I remembered that I still had the last of a roll of self adhesive pearls that fit nicely along the bottom.  The bird is from Tattered Angles that was lightly brushed over with gilding wax.  This sweet little piece is a bit different from a lot of mixed media work it is busy and not concentrated in just one area but still pleasing to eye imho.
