With different projects on the table it has been a very good day here!
This box is something that has been a lot of fun playing with over the last few of days.
It started like this but without all the jewellery inside.
So what went on? A couple of pieces of vellum/tracing paper used to cover the glass it was always the intention to use this to cover the glass, catching drips and spills on it just added to the shabby chic finish. Wanting texture a stencil with leaves running round a corner had structure paste pushed through around 2 oc the corners. While it was drying a dark chocolate colour of Glimmer Mist sprayed all over the box, love the silvery sheen the spray left on top of the brown.
When the box was dry again the sides were worked over with Vintage Photo DI, then using a Gel medium some cotton lace wrapped around the box. Next the paper lifted off the lid and stamped in white ink with an Inkadinkado rose image. Tried different ways of sticking the paper down, ended with gel medium again. Some Alchemy Wax, bronze, was touched over the raised areas just adding a little glimmer and enhancing the texture.
I'd known from the start that there would be a strand of faux pearls, they were going to be knotted but the holes are so big the knots would have been silly so they were just strung on to some thread. White Formiran roses cut with John Next Door dies and some brown foam leaves cut with a Craft Box die were made and added. The brown pleated ribbon was added before the pearls. A little more of the Alchemy wax on the petals, still have a fully functioning jewellery box but it is now a lot less plain. It's twin is still waiting it's turn!
