3 wooden spoons, a Florists oasis and Powertex

Some of you might remember that last month I went to bed with a plan for those elements but the next day made something that used none of them!  Well they did get their turn and here is the result, as it is very 3d there are rather a lot of pictures.

As I started to piece the ideas together it became obvious that Mad Max 3 was one of the influencers but you might not see that our current social isolation also played a part.

The oasis had to be completely covered with masking tape first to give the Powertex something to adhere to.  It was while covering it that the spacers from a canvas used without them suggested themselves as additional something or other for the base so they were taped in place as well.  Then the three wooden spoons were pushed in.   I then spent sometime working out how to bind the three spoons together but keeping them separate.  After that tee shirt fabric, lace and some hessian was cut in various lengths to be used.

Looking around my craft table I spied some of those wooden stirrers you get at craft shows and the like and also a couple of dried infuser wooden thingies.  A little careful manoeuvring and they were slotted into place.   All the fabric and extra bits were then removed.  My rust (terracotta) Powertex was old and a bit lumpy but as it has to be worked into the pieces it did not take much more to working the lumps hahaha.   Powertex poured over the base and spoons then worked to make sure all those areas were covered.  Next the wrapping for the spoons and covering for the top of the base.   The wraps around the spoons was intended to be in one piece to symbolise that we are still together and connected even in these unsocial times.   Feeling the base needed something to sit on an old coaster blank has been popped under it.

After that the sides were wrapped, the sticks added and various other elements added.  The Cogs are Tando apart from one die cut.  The flowers are Snip art, the doily is a cotton one from Poundland many many years ago. The very thin strands came from the people who import and sell Powertex it is often used in groups of strands for hair, here they just add to the general feeling of decay.

Once the Powertex was dry some Ivory coloured Powertex (well again old so just the runny bit) was dripped down.  More old and partly dried out texture pastes in green and beige were scrapped over different areas next.  Finally, yes we have got to the end now, bronze pigment in varnish dry brushed over to pick out the textures and add some highlights.

Needless to say I'm pleased with this piece of abstract decay, and wonder what others will make of it.

Thank you all.  I'm now going to have a little rant 'cause this has been irritating me for yonks.  In the English language there is a word for the period 2 weeks that word is FORTNIGHT, so a challenge that spans 2 weeks is FORTNIGHTLY.  The English language has a wealth of words (there are languages with more but not many) so let us use them it makes communication easier.  rant over.

Stay Safe, Keep Well, If we are ever to get out of this mess you need to follow the rules, most importantly HAVE FUN.
