The Thin Red Line

There is just a possibility that I will get 17000 steps in today.  This is thanks to the sunny weather and a route round my garden that helps pile them up.   While walking it is a real pleasure to see all the different kinds of bees that are making use of the plants growing there.  Then there are the birds especially the baby Sparrows who are making the most of the dog rose and honeysuckle climbing combination.   Harley likes to sit just under this combo looking up at the birds in the bush.  I think they feel safe there from him!

So all this time with nature inspired a little Mixed Media canvas.

The canvas which is on a wood frame measure 17.5 cm x 12.5 cm well approximately those measurements think A5 card.

To start the whole thing was painted with Deco Art Hansa Yellow Light.  There was just a touch left on the pallet and I added Hansa Yellow Medium brushed over the top more of the Light was added and brushed 1 brush width or slight more down.  More Yellow light added and painted a bit further down and so on to the bottom which is almost completely Yellow light.  There was just a touch of paint left so red was added and the little red/orange line painted in.

The next layer is in two parts on the left a torn piece of printed tissue paper.  On the right some translucent stencil paste pushed through a hexagon stencil.  Once everything was dry Alchemy wax in Bronze touched over the surface of the embossing, then everything to this point sealed with Gloss Gel Medium.

Liking the Tissue paper and having some that is just plain white an AALL and Create flower stamped onto it as well as a couple of bees.  The stamped images were coloured with Chameleon pens and then cut out.  Not fussy cut this time the tissue is to delicate to allow that.  More Gel Medium secured the stamped tissue in place.  The same bee image had been stamped and coloured for a previous, unsuccessful, project so that bee was rescued and recycled here popped on top of the still wet Gel Medium.

Back to the printed tissue paper and a Funky Fossil c ircle die, it was cut with a couple of layers of wax paper and I decided to add the printed tissue with one of the wax paper cuts.  The tissue would not lie completely flat on the canvas and was too delicate to adjust, but that is fine as it adds yet more texture and dimension to the piece.

This has been hanging in my hall for a couple of days now and really makes me smile.  So I'm sharing it with a couple of challenges and hope they will enjoy it as well.
