Checking all your lovely comments this morning, thank you all so much you all say such lovely things. This morning there was a comment from Di Oliver from Tando asking if she can use last week's arch on the Tando site. So complimented and thrilled to be asked cannot wait to see my piece on another site.
Something Completely Different are looking at Archs in September, the theme this week is another cracker its the 1950s. What a decade that was not that I remember it much only arriving in 1956 but as the bridge between an older way and a more modern way the 1950s are surprisingly important in history. The Sputnik, Atomic trials on Bikini Island, Rock 'n Roll, Beatniks, The Beatles the end of rationing in the UK and the start of Premium Bonds! Quite a few of us crafters were born in the 1950's as well. Nylon was the new wonder fabric, bright dyes and prints were begining to appear tweeds and plaids were popular fashion fabrics and our Mothers were still likely to make our cloths.
Inkabilities used to colour this arch. The button label is from some of my Grandmother's buttons the label says 'Empire Made' photocopied distressed and stuck to arch. The woman and little girl are my mother and me circa 1957. The dressmakers form, cotton reel and scissors stamped and heat embossed. The buttons are modern as is the pink thread. Quite a personal arch this one.
Zoe this is fabulous! I really like the layers you used. It goes to show if you look you'll find something unique for our collages.

Great piece of art Zoe, it certainly reminds me of the 50's and love the picture of you and your mum. My Mum had a sewing machine and made most of our clothes, that's where I got my love of making things from. Your stamped images are gorgeous, they certainly reflect the times.
