Mardi Gras Mask

Pancake day is celebrated in other parts with a party and a street celebration with music floats custumes and a great fun vibe.   The girls at Gingersnaps explained that the official colours are Purple, Green and Gold.   Missed the Gingersnap event on the 8th March but have made this mask as a late entry, the section is open until the end of Lent.

This pressed paper basic shape has been in a box for around a year waiting for paint and and purpose.   The style and design were inspired by Alison (Mommabear) who made some marvelless masks last year and I'm the lucky owner of one!

Using acrylic paints I mixed the purple maybe needed a little more white to brighten it.  The divisions between the purple bits and green bits were marked out in gold pen.    Masks and other Carnival style patterns were stamped and embossed in gold and Purple.   The eyes highlighted Alison style with lush lashes.  Gems for brows lower eyelids complete the look.   The Glass head lives in my porch and it is now dress with the mask.
