Craft-Room Challenge - Use something Wooden

Hello! Esther is off on her hols we have swapped!  Which means it's my turn again to
select our challenge theme at Craft-Room Challenge.   First let me say Thank you for everyone who joined in with Hazel's trees and leaves challenge a fabulous collection of entries.   Poor Hazel has the unenviable task of selecting her top 3 from them all.

We have another New Sponsor this time The MDF Man no banner but go and take a look at all the goodies he has ready and waiting for altering.   He has given us a selection of his Cogs as a prize for one lucky person drawn at random.   When I saw the stand at a local craft show I had to get a selection of goodies to try, here I've used the 12" framed cogs and some of the cogs from a set similar to the one in our prize.

'Altering' this was great fun.   I first painted everything with white Gesso on one side and Black on the other.   Next a layer of PVA glue and while that was wet orange acrylic paint.  Texture paste and crackle paste over the top of it all Patina Glimmer Mist.   Various sheets of metal run through the big shot with floral dies, a Tando clock face sprayed with more Glimmer Mist.    Everything laid out and layered with the extra addition of lace and lace bows.   A long spindle clock mechanism fitted through the pre-drilled hole in the base piece and hands fitted.    The hands are actually to long for the clock to work so before this goes up in my new kitchen another shorter set will have to be found.

I just love doing this sort of thing, do you?   Go on make something using and or featuring real wood and share it with us at Craft-Room challenge, the random draw could be yours.  Just spend a moment if you would checking our rules.

Following a number of sites for Challenges for Days checking the rules is routine and I've done just that with these.
