The Green Man with his Autumn Crown

I found this mask blank at the Range, it is much smaller than the usual size I work with which brought challenges of it's own, things had to be scaled down.   The blank was coloured with Viva Inca Gold in bronze and green.   Then sprayed it with more autumnal colours of Glimmer Mists.   After it was dry it was stamped with leaves and branch, the branch stamped again and gold ep added.   The leaves of the crown are vellum and parchment type paper.   Once they were added the whole was sprayed with gold spray and sparkle.   Florist moss and a strand of twisted sari silk were the final additions.

The Green Man, a pre Christianity god or god like being who lived in woodlands.  He is always represented with a face crowned and surrounded with and by leaves and vines.   Often seen as a fearful being a powerful demanding deity.    With Halloween this month it is easy to conjecture links between the halloween tales and this ancient terror.

Friends who visit regularly know how much I enjoy these 3D tactile projects.   I'm sharing this one with:
