Start of a new challenge

Oh yes it is that time, a little something that Christi, Jane and I have been cooking up, Twofers.    Primarily a Just for Fun challenge we are aiming to inspire people to make pairs of cards, tags, layouts or whatever else they want to make, based on our fortnightly theme.

The three of us are good friends, we all manage lists at Challenges for Days, but have never met.   Jane & I go back several years first meeting on the old Craft Swap Forum and then getting back in touch more recently thought Facebook.   Christi is American living in the suburbs of Denver, we have never met but frequently spend an hour or so on the phone.   We share a delight in paper crafting but each of us has a different style to the other two, which as a team means we are open to all sorts of ideas.   To find out more check out the challenge, Twofers and share some love with Christi and Jane.

Christi has the honour of hosting our first challenge and has chosen the theme of cats.   No surprise this cat mad lady lives with 5 making my 3 seem a positively sensible number!

For many years now I've wanted to make a pack of playing cards so with this new challenge I'm going to try and make it happen.   We want you to make pairs of things anything based around the theme so pairs of playing cards seems like a good idea.   My cards are 3.5" x 2.5" with big rounded corners.   Here is the first pair, King and Queen of Hearts.

For these cards I used two old much loved stamps.   The Queen is a lovely face image that is so expressive, I love it.   Stamped in old versa black ink and coloured with whisper pens.   The King is a gorgeous simple outline, it was the simplicity that drew me to this stamp in the first place.  Again stamped in versa black and coloured with Whisper pens.    Distress inks and ink dusters coloured the edges completed this pair.

You don't have to make playing cards or even stick with one format for all the challenges, any pair of cat projects is all we are looking for.

I would like to share my playing cards with

  1. Great playing cards Zoe and a great idea for a challenge as well to make 2 of things. I will go and visit and if I have anything cat related I will join in.
Can I just add I find the green print on a blue background very difficult to read so I hope this is in the right place.
