Sales bargain

Well that's what you do in January isn't it?   In the Co-op I found a great bargain box of dishwasher tablets.    Brought my prize home and decanted the contents into the half full box of dishwasher tablets under the sink.    Left me with the real prize a terrific sturdy box to alter.

Took me a few days to work it all out and do everything.    First step deciding what sort of storage to made, it is not big enough to be a magazine holder but you could keep all sorts of things in this.   So carefully cut off the top and down the sides.

Wondering how to cover it led to a rummage in my stash of 12 x 12 papers and two pieces of co-ordinations.   Lot of measuring folding and cutting a piece of 12 x 12 covered one side inside and out.  A strip of a third 12 x 12 paper covered the outside spine.   Next tissue tape over seams and edges.   Out with the Sweet Poppy stencils and Dreamweaver embossing paste.

Once the paste had dried the edges and Co-ordination card worked on with a file for distressing.  Further ageing with DI and the ink dusters.   Then I just wanted to embellish and titivate.   The Tattered Angels Owl stamped with stayzon onto an old acetate file cover, trimmed and then coloured on the reverse with Promarkers.   Cannot use stayzon and Promarkers on the same side they do not get along together.    The image give a coating of spray glue and stuck on top of the embossed tree.    On the same side tacky glue scribbled over and Stampendous shabby ep applied.   The heat gun to melt the ep also slightly buckled the owl adding to the overall distressed effect.   On the other side some felt flowers were added to the stencil/embossed vine.

Finally needed to put something onto the inside spine.   Cut down a piece of white card to fit and stamped it with the Kaisercraft street lamp. Coloured with Promarkers the white card was toned down with lots of DI dusted on.

Finally on a lovely sunny winter's day I had to open the patio doors to get halfway decent photos without too many shadows.

I think this altered box fits with these challenges.
