Always Use Rubber - Any Festival

I've been a bit lost researching my family tree recently, its that time of year when creativity goes a bit flat.   My fascination with history adds interest and background to the family tree research.   Challenges still going on and this time at Always Use Rubber, thinking that Christmas and winter holidays might be a bit late now Jane thought a theme of any Holiday/Festival celebrated by your country or faith.

With my calendar in mind this is my May page, celebrating May Day.   Modern celebration is workers rights and the union movement.  My memories are from when I was about 8 or 9 and we danced around a maypole at school.

Off I went then on a hunt for a maypole image on eBay found this beautiful image from Stamps Happen.   Its a big image that makes a real statement without anything else.   Stamped in blue and coloured with felt pens.    Edges of the card dusted with blue and green DI.   The butterflies flitting around are some of my oldest.   This is making me look forward to May next year and seeing this everyday.

At the end of December the team will select a winner from the Top 3 for this challenge and for the Next 2 challenges.   The prize will be our monthly $15 voucher from the very generous Alleystamp.

Thought I'd share this with The Butterfly Challenge, Mrs A has set a month long challenge which must have fairies, elves, gnomes or pixies.

Lemon Shortbread - Always Anything Goes and they are always so pretty.

  3. Yes the maypole was always a spring term affair at school wasn't it. We all had to learn new dances every year the display. Can't remember if we ever had the parents turn up to watch though. Love the colours on your maypole and those sweet little fairies. I have been doing quite a lot of Genealogy this past month too. I have one ancestor who appears to have two families running side by side not two miles apart from one another but he doesn't seem to be living with either. Can only find one marriage at the moment and no deaths. The mystery deepens. I have birth certificates on order from the GRO so that might clarify matters.
I love delving into history. The best form of time travel that I know of!! Thankyou for fluttering by my challenge. hugs Mrs A.
