Alterations

Son still not 100% possibly not quite 50% but he is getting some sleep it might be broken but with a sore throat sleep is possibly the most comfortable thing for him to do.  Given that nothing lasts for ever he has to get better eventually.

In the mean time I'm still playing with my inks and crafty bits, or with jump rings and gem stones.   Today I'm sharing something made with an empty box, some paint and other things.

Here it is, one naked box.   It had to be primed with Gesso then a coat of yellow distress paint.   On one side I laid out a piece of hessian, some dried fruit (florist fruit so it is in a static state)  a bunch of dried and dyed reindeer moss and a couple of metal embellishments.  Having decided on the arrangement they were glued in place and covered with light green chalk paint.  When that dried a coat of crackle effect was applied and over that cream chalk paint.  The final coat was used all over the box.

When everything was dry I dusted over the crackle surface with DIs to enhance the crackle.  This was followed by copper glimmer mist and finally some gilding wax.  Still not entirely satisfied with this side more metal embellishments and a strip of Tim Holtz film printed acetate were added.

The back of the box is covered with a piece of glossy card bartered with Big and Juicy inks.   Over this a panel stamped and coloured with felt pens.  Before these were fixed in place a stencil and embossing paste were used for the roses.   As you can see the cream paint was applied after the embossing paste had gone off. Once again gilding wax has been rubbed over.

Finally the sides that had also been given the crackle treatment were stamped with butterflies.

Now I have another handy storage for some of my bits and pieces, it is also unique home decor.

This time my box is being shared with

Creates and Makes - Always anything goes.

Inspiration Destination - Anything goes.

I like both theses challenges because they are open to going outside the box, sorry pun unintended.

Love to Create - Anything mixed media goes.

More Mixed Media Challenge - Anything goes with the optional extra Yellow.   painted over the yellow here so it does not count, hehehe.

Well in less than 10 minutes it will be tomorrow, time for bed.
