Matting and Layering

Goodness sometimes the oldies are the best!

It's been another nice day here, cooler but as I was weeding conditions were much better.  The Thyme traveler has been given a permanent place in the garden.  All in all a successful time in the garden.   Then it was time to have a little play in the craft room.

Went looking for inspiration and found out about a new challenge site.   It's called Back to Basics and Beyond, the premise is to encourage people new to paper craft to learn those older not often talked of but basic techniques.   Master these and you have the foundation we all build on.   It is also an invitation for those of us who have been crafting for a year or two now to just join in, play, refresh those techniques and encourage other people to get inky.  We can all learn new things along the way.

Their first challenge is Matting and Layering.   The idea is to frame the image topper and create some lift in your card.   Mine will be a page in my Tando book/Journal rather than a greeting card.  Good stiff pink textured card for the base layer, then some orange card cut to fit inside the base card.   The topper is cream card stamped with an Indigo Blu stamp in Memento and then the image picked out with ProMarkers.   The edges of the topper have been dusted with distress ink getting progressively darker nearer the edge.

OK the chef is just serving up so I'll close this now.
