I like to learn new techniques and experiment.

Well now the excitement of the wedding is over and we turn off our televisions, or tune into the football, our day to day lives carry on.    Another warm day so until the heat of the day had passed I stayed indoors.

Result, Turquoise and Stirling Silver pendant.   This will be popped into the shop in a day or two.

Then time to get inky, I'm honestly not sure which I enjoy more.   If you are on Face Book you might have seen an interesting technique in recent days involving ink and a piece of twine.   Well of course I had to have a play.   Mixed results, still experimenting with paper/card, inks and thickness of twine.

I've used what I think is the most successful attempt and I've used both halves.   First trimmed down to a 5 1/2 inch square.    The patten put me in mind of a floral arrangement but rather than trying to stamp flowers all over it I used Glimmer Mist.   This bottle is blocked and will not spray, but if you take the spray mechanism out and hold it over the card then press a drop will fall from the tube.   You can get more ink into the tube by putting it back into the bottle, pressing and releasing the spray button.   I've chosen to add dragonflies to this piece the larger one coloured with Sakura pen in a silvery shimmer ink then over marked with white pen.  To soften the stark white edges a misty colour was dusted over them.

Then the other half of the impression, which gave me an excuse to use this much loved calla lily stamp.  Stamped it directly onto the card but that did not seem quite right.   In the past I've used this image with vellum and made 3D designs with it.   Dug out some vellum and green stayzon, which has been overlaid on the stamped image, the vellum wrapped around the card all held in place with eyelets.

Sharing both of these with:

Inkspirational - They have a picture inspiration, it was the greens (my favourite colour) that drew me into the picture.

  1. my first attempt wasn't very good, I think my string was too thick but it was all I could find... love the one with the dragonflies! It is a great technique though isn't it!
