Family tree

One of my many hobbies and interests is Genealogy.  Tracing my family tree back in time and relating it to historical events is fascinating to me.  Having had my DNA tested expanded the research by allowing me to connect with relations I had little or no idea about.

So when I'm not paper crafting or making jewellery or dabbling in Mixed Media Art I'm riding my bike and getting more confident at it, walking around local areas of interest.  I am researching various  websites  to try to figure out more about where I came from.

Today was just a play-day for me.  Have got a couple of jewellery commissions to work on but cannot get my head into those yet.  So I played in the craft room.

I know Alcohol ink on Yopo paper is quite old hat now but until today my attempts have not resulted in anything I would want to share.   This however worked at least for me.  While inks were being dropped onto the paper and then more onto of them the image of a tree grew.   The skull is a Tando stencil with pearlised embossing paste pushed through.

When it was complete it told me that the coloured part had to be snipped out, I'm so glad I did what it told me.   While puzzling what to do with it a paper plate started waving to me from the back of the table.   Tested it and the Yopo was and almost perfect fit.   The inner circle of the paper plate was cut out the remaining plate given a coat of white gesso.   When the two elements were stuck together stamping Family tree on the rim seemed like a fun idea.

Will have to play with these again!  For now I would like to share this with:

A perfect time to craft - This is a monthly Anything Goes Challenge, they might find this interesting.

Dream in Darkness - More wonderful none cute monthly go for it ness.

Love to Craft - This is their July Anything Goes Challenge.

Mix it up - What would life be without monthly mixed media challenges where Anything Goes?

The Corrosive Challenge - Their July Anything Goes Challenge.

Goodness only knows what they will make of it, I'll use it for the cover of my family history certificates.

Late entry, I thought this challenge had closed but it is still going and getting stronger.  Sandie why are you not listed on Challenges for Days? do you want to be?  Rhedd's Creative Spirit - A monthly anything Altered Art/Mixed Media goes.
