Still got Gilding Flakes on the brain

You know how sometimes a theme set you off and ideas seem to endlessly spill out of you?  Well the CAS Stencil challenge for April has had that effect on me.  After watching part of Barbara of Clarity Stamps using double sided tape with a stencil and glitter flakes, and making a hash of it, acetate kept running around in my head.

First one, a piece of red acetate and die cuts used as stencils.   Spray the acetate with the reposition adhesive.  Apply stencils and then use Perfect Pearls mica powders over the exposed area.  Remove stencils and apply gold coloured gilding flakes.   The idea does work but the removal of the stencils does reduce the effectiveness of the adhesive.

Before I retired my role was office based.  If you have worked in this type of environment you will probably be familiar with reports bound with acetate covers.   When ever anyone had a clear out of old reports I would "rescue" these covers one of which was used for this card.   White card cut down, acetate treated in the same way as the red one above.  Red lined tape attaches the bottom of the white card.  After a lot of hunting a Congratulations stamp was finally traced down and used with gold colour ink.

Well the sun is still shining and the chef is happily playing in the kitchen.  Think I'll just go and soak up a few rays, and maybe do some chainmaille.  Stay safe and Have Fun.

  4. I love the simplicity of this card and how you have managed to capture the detail of the stencils with the gilding flakes, I know that can be a challenge. I am with you on saving the acetate covers, I have a stash of them too, what a good idea to use it with this technique. I shall try and remember that, thanks for joining us at CAS stencil xx
