And now for something different

It is a Jewellery Box!   I get a lot of the gems for my Jewellery from Jewellery Maker if you are interested in making jewellery then their site is a great starting point.   Sometimes they sell Jewellery accessories and this paper mâché box came from them.  It then sat around for a few years waiting it's turn.

Remember the mask a few days ago when I was testing Glimmer Mists?   Well this little chest got the same treatment, with different bottles, at the same time.  Set it aside to mull over for a few days.

The next idea was using stencils and embossing paste on the sides.  I was really pleased with the result.  Stamped butterflies onto the front and heat embossed them.   For a day or so that seemed to be that.

After doing the mask I set some new "altered" glue off and used the same technique on the rose, using some Moon Glow two tone embossing powder.   While sorting out the Glimmer Mists something else came to light "Rainbow Inks" from Ranger no idea if they still so them or not but having some decided to play.  Metallic Pink, Teal, and Blue in the stripes you can see.

Umm foil will go nicely over all that texture and will help to calm down the rainbow inks, if I'm going to do that then I need to add some Temple Stone enamel powder from Piccolo that 3M remount spray glue once again provided the fixative.  On the other side more of the altered glue, foil and Temple Stone.

The back was given the same sort of abuse.   While looking for the Temple Stone I came across some Stampendous Fran-tage, ideal for those butterflies.  Two were re-stamped with heat and stick one had the Fran-tage crushed glass treatment the other gilding flakes.  The top butterfly was simple reheated to soften the embossing paste used originally and then gilding flakes applied that is my favourite.

Now for the top.   The theme that had developed with the altered glue, foil and Temple Stone is one of creeping decay.  Hence the glue pen doodle on the top and another butterfly also given Temple stone e.p.  Finally some Steampunk metal charms and a gem stone strand tassel finish off the decoration.

Inside the box is sprayed red and some tissue paper laid over the wet paint gives what ever is kept in this something nice to lie on and be covered by.  The box took over a week to complete but was great fun to do involving so much inky messy fun and a great variety of mediums.  Also the chef approved, it is curry tonight.

I'm sharing this with:

OK popping out on the bike now while the chef slaves over a hot stove for me.  He is happy enough he is singing away in there.
