Just for Fun

Goodness what a change in the weather over night we have been enjoying glorious sun shine, it has been warm enough for tee shirts and shorts.  From today and for the next week at least it will be much cooler the heating will kick in again.   Taking exercise in nice weather is easy when it is windy as well as chilly not so much.

Today was also the day when the PM gave us a sketchy outline of plans to start to ease the current restrictions.  Looking back at this time will be interesting, for the last 7 weeks here in the UK we have been instructed to say at home and not to visit others.  To only go out once a day to shop for essentials and exercise.  We have to keep 2meters apart from everyone else except the people we share our home with.    Being British queueing is already a strong cultural habit, what we are not quite so used to is empty shelves, although supplies of necessities have been pretty much restored anti-bacterial wipes are still in short supply and the spray I like to use in the shower has not been available since all the panic buying in March.  These have been and continue to be strange times.

The first stage of easing is to encourage people who cannot work from home to go back to work.  Obviously this does not apply to shop workers, the only shops that are open are grocery, chemist, pet food and any others that can a) find a way to fall into the essential category and b) can control the flow of customers and maintain the 2 meter separation rule.  Workers are being told to drive, cycle or walk to work and avoid public transport as much as possible.   From Wednesday we will be able to go out and about more without restriction although social distancing must be maintained.

It is going to be interesting to see how this develops and what permanent adjustments to society will be made.  On a personal note I wonder what direction my compulsion to craft and create will take.  For now I am happily making cards, like these.

This one started with a La Blanc stamp that I love because of it's quirkiness.  Stamped in black onto an off cut of white card which was then trimmed into a square.  The black mat is of card that has a sparkle effect in it.  An A4 piece of card cut down to make a 5 3/4 inch square.  In keeping with the monochromatic theme a simple sentiment could only be black.

I'm entering this with
Crafty Calendar - Black and White (monthly)
Seize the Birthday - Monochromatic (weekly)

Here is how I used the little off cut from the card.  I measures 2 1/2 x 5 3/4 inches, just the right size for the Kasier Craft stamp.  Inked in black, felt pens used brush end and loosely coloured the vine.   Yellow for the light densest near the lamps and fading down to the bottom of the card,  Stormy sky dusted around the edges.  A simple little just because card for someone who would like to be cheered up just now.

In these times thank goodness for challenges and I'm sharing this with
Just us Girls - Trend week "mini"
Allsorts - Running for 2 weeks of Anything Goes

Well for me tomorrow will be just another day it might involve HW it will almost certainly involve ink.  Stay Safe, Stay Well and Have Fun.

  1. It's going to be very interesting to see how people interpret last nights broadcast, sadly I fear that many will just continue as they have done previously putting their own spin on it. We've not been out since 6th March and seems like an eternity, but the longer it goes on and without a vaccine I am more than happy to stay home and in fact have a growing fear of going out into an environment where there's an invisible foe.

OK, back to craft, I love the simplistic elegant of both of these, sometimes it produces the best in craft, the lamppost one with the soft shading is very appealing but it's the monochromatic one that really speaks volumes to me. Thank you so much for joining in with our current two week theme at Allsorts challenge.
