I just enjoy arting don't you? Mixed Media or CAS what ever the mood offers me I just enjoy it.
Over the last couple of days I've been playing with this half mask
Paper Mache half mask form. Laid out the elements that I was planning on using some lace, a die cut flourish, a few wooden elements. Having decided on the basic design the mask and all those other elements were coated with Powertex. Then it was set aside to dry, Powertex takes about 3 weeks to fully harden but after quite a short time it dries enough to be dry brushed or have other things added.
This morning using the varnish supplied by the Powertex people, Gold, Copper and Green mica powders were dry brushed over the mask. The same varnish was used to apply Stampendous crushed glass and flakes. Then embossing ink was brushed over the raised surfaces and a paler ep sprinkled onto it which was then melted with a heat gun, surplus wiped away. Not something you can usually do but there were bits that the heat gun had missed and I didn't want. Next Glimmer Mists, so far so good like what I have and think is one of my best masks. Then i sprayed it with shimmer and shine the last of the spray it pooled in some areas and missed others in other words a mess that came close to spoiling all my efforts thus far. Wiping off as much as possible helped but I felt the need to dry brush more gold coloured mica powder over the mask to try to cover it up.
Using the holes already in the mask form sets the balance at a point that causes it to fall forwards and face down. I will have to investigate and find an alternative way to display it.
I'm sharing this with:
