Lets have another little catch up

Life is very quite at the moment, and I love it!  Most days will find me at some point pottering in my craft room.  The patio doors will likely be open so that Harley can come and go as he pleases.  The cat flap is for emergencies only.  So I look out onto my green little patch and watch various plants grow, some might be called weeds but they are just flowers in the "wrong" place.

Recently the sound track has been that of bird song and bumble bees buzzing.  Today not so much the wind is up and with it water falling from the sky.  But what ever the weather my craft room is light and airy, it is also piled high with boxes and boxes of stash.

So here are a few more recent makes that have not made it here yet.

Owls have always been a bit of a "thing" for me.  This owl die is from Sizzix, the corner cog and gear die is from Funky Fossil.  Both were cut in plain white card and then polished and buffed with Alchemy Wax.  Another time if I'm going to turn the die into a sticker I'll polish it up first and then run it through the sticker maker.

To do the polishing I use scraps of cotton wool to pick up the medium and then in circular motions rub it onto/into the card.  Here it was Silver first, then gold and on the owl bronze last.  On the cogs it was just gold and copper.

Carefully attached to the base card so that each overlaps the other I think the owl has rather a steampunk look to it.

New Stencil from Paper Artsy.  The think with stencils is you get to choose which bits you use and where they go.  The circles are as the stencil the phase has been separated.

Circles first DI in different greens pushed through, followed by green acrylic paint, that did get a bit messy and creep a bit.  Next a dark green embossing paste and finally while that was still wet a pale green past spread over the top.  When that was dry, and the stencil washed ready to go again, the words were added.  First "Having" the word traced round with green Whisper pen, then some pearlised paste mixed with a little green mica powder and pushed through.   Stencil once again clean and dry the process repeated with the word "fun"

A throughly enjoyable and if I do say so myself successful experiment.

Finally for Now

Another journal cover, using Lisa Horton chipboard.  The inside is sporting some old K and Co paper from my stash on piece cut into 3 to cover the boards.

The outside is where most of the decorative work was done.  Once the basic cover was constructed two pieces of Mintay 6" x 6" papers.  The ones with the embroidery rings struck me as great for stamping onto so that was used for the front and spine.  The screened window panels looked to be in need of a climbing plant and as it so happened I have just the stamp.   The stamps are all from Kanban quite a long time ago now I'd say 11-12 years.

For fun the stamps were inked in Memento grey and carefully placed so that main images fitted into the circles.  These were then coloured with ProMarkers care taken to only colour the encircled part of the image so that outside the circle fades out of focus.  The exception is the climbing rose the is part on the front and part on the spine, that was inked with Whisper pens directly to the stamp.

The rose on the back from the same Kanban family of stamps was also stamped in Memento grey and coloured with ProMarkers.

Once everything was assembled and glue dried elasticated jewellery thread (used to make stretchy bracelets) was threaded through to provide binding for future pages.  On the outside spine the holes for this were topped with a dots of white Liquid Pearls.
