Found more time in the craft room today, inspired by the new challenge at Less is More #455 Winter Whites.
The ideas this set running in my head removed around White on White. Something we have not seem so much of in recent times but a style that can appear very stylish. The approaching annual remembrance event suggested itself as the subject matter with a Poppy. The idea of white on white and remembrance from WW1 brought the white feather into the design.
WW1 was a different kind of war, now days we are accustomed to PTS and understand how the horror of war causes it. 100 years ago it was unknown, serving was considered a duty those who thought otherwise were considered cowards. Women especially were judgemental and would often present me not in uniform with a white feather, implying that they were cowards.
We know better now and have a much greater understanding of how events shape us. We can see those conscientious objectors as people of honour especially those who still went to the was arena as ambulance drivers and in other non combatant roles.
This remembrance card then is for them.
Image stamped with Versa Watermark ink and embossed with clear ep. The ep was kept hot so that Stampendours white shabby ep. It didn't cover the entire image giving a more mottled WoW effect exactly what was wanted. Then using a white ink pen the image was "coloured" in. Finally a small white feather stuck on top.
