The Joker is back!

Well he never went away really.

Some time ago, last summer I think, you were introduced to the Joker, they live in many seaside towns.  Graceful and elegant in flight and regal when perched it is only when they open their beak that you get to hear the other side of their nature.  That Squark sounds like exactly what it is a warning to other gulls in the vicinity that they are here.

The Joker is foremost of their group, they are the one who will snatch a chip right out of the bag you are holding and eating from!  If like me being near the coast is an essential way of life you will be familiar with them.  I delight in watching them on the wing but not so much when one gets food and is mobbed by the rest.

So this card came about as a CAS Watercolour piece.  Initially stamped and painted directly onto a card,  it just did not look right and there were a couple of little black dots from paint accidentally flicked over the card.

So I have the bright idea of fussy cutting the image and putting it onto another card.  A good rescue I thought.  The water colouring was done with Spectrum Noir pre-mixed water colours,  They produced these several years ago, when I got them, but don't think they were repeated.  No reason to those little pots will last for years and years, bit of an own goal really.

By the way that bit of sky inside the ring has been deliberately left just to give a suggestion of sky.

Now I've "rescued" my watercolour I'm sharing it with:

CAS Mix Up - Water colour and Flight

CASology - #392 Strength Gulls represent strength and resilience

Addicted to CAS - #199 Beach

We Love Chocolate Baroque - Hand coloured or Paper Pieced image. Water coloured Image and fussy cut but not really paper pieced.  I also just happen to like CAS!

Nearly forgot

AAA Cards - #192 One Corner and Childhood Memory.  A life spent near the coast I've been watching these birds (and hiding my chips from them) since infancy.

Feel free to share on your own blog

Leaving the Supermarket the other day there was a cry not unlike a seagull's squark but not quite right.  Looking up there on the top of the walkway cover was this pair.  By the time I'd got my smart phone out the chick had closed its beak and the parent stopped looking away from it's chick.  My guess there is a nest up there that chick has not fledged yet has it.

Could be a future generation Joker hahaha

Stay Safe, Keep Well, and HAVE FUN.  We have got this far an extra few weeks will not hurt.

I too live near the sea and we have a lot of gulls here, and isn't unusual seeing them on supermarket roofs, they are always very hungry.
