A little messy play

Getting rhythms and routines settled a little now and have a good play when I can.   Over the last couple of evenings I've been getting good and inky with this little hanging.

Masking tape pleated top and bottom of an A5 piece of thick card.   A smaller piece of regular card stock sits in the center with the tape securing it where it touches.   Then lots of spraying with Glimmer mist and Cosmic shimmer.

While that was drying stamped the Rogue Redhead children playing at the beach in brown Momento and then coloured with Promarkers before being fussy cut out.

Top of the masking tape at the bottom given a layer of Eco Green ultra thick modeling paste.   It took on some of the spray colour helping it blend into the piece.    Using different thickness of sticky pads the stamped images were added.   Finally Viva pastes blended over different parts of the hanging and some of my favourite green and blue lace added behind.

Think there are one or two challenges to share it with.
Gingersnaps - Use Masking tape
Fashionable Stamping - Make it for a child
Little Red Wagon - Include something Vintage
The Cheerful Stamp Pad - Land of Fantasy
Victorine Stamps - Lace

I am so excited - fit to burst

There is a saying, 'When one door closes another opens'.  When Just for Fun came to an end I had absolutely no idea what if anything I would do next.    Yesterday (Sunday) evening an email popped into my inbox inviting me to be one of the team of regular columnists at Unruly Paper Arts, needless to say I'm thrilled to bits.

Sharon Bliss of Gingersnaps fame is starting this exciting new blogozine with a team of fabulous artists and me!    There will be reader Art Quests for everyone to join in with a vote by the blogozine followers.  And lots more you can find out all about it and see who the team are at Unruly Paper Arts, if you become a follower then you'll miss nothing of the fun and journey.

You already know that stamping is my thing, so it will not surprise you that my coloum (oooh first time I've said that it tingles), will explore actual inky stamping.   If you are one of those who love the idea of rubber stamping but at not sure how to start perhaps you'll find inspiration and support in the blogzine.  The other team members all have their own specialist area's with lots and lots of ideas to share with you.

Looking forward to seeing you there and learning what you think of us.

Using up scraps

Its been a busy week-end but not very crafty.   Getting a little play time now and am sharing this card with you.

Less is More this week want us to use some of our scrap stash.   Quite my scraps are over spray or inking, kitchen paper used to mop up colour spills or used and dried out acrylic pallet paper sheets.   These get cut and stored to wait for their day.   A selection of such have been used here.    Was not sure where this would go just knew I wanted an explosion of colour leaping out from the white background.   Re-discovering all these Tattered flowers and a strip of Basic Grey left over from something or other and the design laid itself out.

Mardi Gras Memories

Had a lovely surprise at the week-end a package of Tando with some of the latest goodies to play with.   This Gothic Arch set seemed perfect for a Mardi Gras celebration.

Also a great excuse to play with some FP in a way I've not done for a while.  Relaxing the plastic into moulds, used up a few scraps at the same time.   The couple are Rogue Redhead stamps against a Crafty Individuals background.    The little metal owl has FP oozed through the pattern of his body.   Tissue tape binds the 5 layers for frame together.   All in all a bright cheerful fun piece.

Sharing this pre Lent celebration with Anything goes - Altered artwork anything but a card.  As well as the regular weekly linky party at Inspire me Friday.  Another challenge, Move along with the times, want lots of layers at least 2!

Just for Fun - Distress Him

This week is the last Just for Fun Challenge.    It has been a pleasure getting to know so many of you and getting to see some amazing art work.   Thank you for all the support given to all the team this last year.  Thank you to Von, Neet and in the past Sam for all your hard work for the challenge and good luck.

Onto the final challenge and it is a glorious messy non cute one, thank you Neet.   We have been making Men themed projects all month this week Neet's challenge is to use at least one distressing technique on them.

For my tag I used a piece of Kraft card stamped with DI all of which have also been blended over the card with the addition of green.   Once stamped the card was crumpled scratched and the edges distressed with distressing tools.   A strip of watercolour paper was torn off a page and treated in the same way as the kraft card.   The lantern is the Marianne die I've taken a real shine to cut into a kraft envelope.

Will you help us go out with a bang and share your distressed men theme projects with us?

Craft-Room Challenge

Quite a few changes happening at Craft-Room Challenge!   Julia is closing her online shop, everything is 40% off so might be worth a visit.   As this is the last challenge Julia is sponsoring and anticipating that a lot of stock will sell quickly an Andy Skinner stamp plate 'Batik Garden' has been reserved as the prize.

In honour of the prize I've used that same stamp plate as a sample this week.   The challenge this time set by yours truly is a colour one, looking to see you use Brown, Orange and Cream for your creations.   I've used brilliance inks on cream card layed in a brown card.   The die cut is a new one from Memory Box, no idea where the flowers came from they seem to have been in my embellishment box for ever.   Orange coloured gems complete the colour pallet.

This was my first sample and felt the need to share it with you.   The base card is the same brown card stock.   In a local craft shop found some wonderful wide lace in cream makes a perfect background here, held in place by two Orange flock covered brads.   A nestie cut topper stamped in brown with Inkadinkado 'Tin Can Mail' Persimmon DI inks blended round the edges.   A little orange netting sits behind the image on the right of the card, some orange ribbon runs down and over the image.  The flowers bottom left are topped by brown lace rolled to make flowers and stitched together with orange sequins on the middle.

I love colour challenges so thought it would be fun to see what you all make of one inspired by a certain chocolate treat.   As always the team have come up with some stunning samples, and we are all pleased to say that Craft-Room Challenge will continue and we have some terrific sponsors lined up.

Off the Page

It's time to share my sample for this months project for the Tando Creative Challenge.   The theme this month is off the page!   It took a moment or two to get my head round this one, until I decided my page would be a canvas things got a lot easier then.

Small A5 sized stretched canvas with an acrylic block behind it and then brayed with B&J 'Spicy'.   Using the Tando mask, Bird and Branch, and daubers the background was complete.   Tando Chipboard frame and elephant together each coming off the surface.  The frame has also been coloured with daubers dragged across.   Elephant coloured with Viva Inca Gold and then stamped and embossed with green Cosmic Shimmer, the little heart that the elephant comes with coloured with red Sakura glitter pen.   The two pieces of chipboard attached at one end to the canvas with silicon glue with the elephant stepping out of the frame.

Bit hard to describe perhaps this side view will give you the idea.   To enter the challenge you do not have to use Tando Creative Products, the winning entry will get the chance to discover them for themselves.

Just for Fun - Sporty Man

Round here now all the snow has gone, and its a lot less cold, until the next cold snap.   Did  anyone see the pictures of the Danube? it seems it was impassable for the usual traffic it carries!

Back to paper crafts, and our Just for Fun challenge.  Neet is still mistress of theme's deciding that this week our masculine makes would be of a sporty nature.   Yes they are getting tougher but if you look at their blogs you will see that both Neet and Von have created fab, fun masculine sporty projects.

I've gone for another DL card this week covering it with a strip of dark green card.   Some of the same card stamped in brown with a dotty stamp, this has been die cut along with cream card to make the clock.   The cricket scene stamped onto more cream card with brown ink and light coloured grass and sky with ProMarkers.

What ever manly idea will Neet have us working with next well LOL

Creative Card Crew are also looking for Masculine themed cards this week, so I'm sharing this with them.

Very soggy Sunday

Well there is a burst pipe in the garden so not a lot of running water in the house at the moment.   Plumber is due in the morning fingers crossed the water feature in the garden will be removed.  The IMPS are not impressed!

Still had a happy play today so feeling human again!  This card featuring Rogue Redhead stamps has been made with some monochrome challenges in mind and Rogues stamp your background challenge.

Using the background stamp from Beach Babe's in Adirondack Butterscotch wiped with a baby wipe the colour scheme of yellow/browns was set.   All the other stamps are from Relish Reading.  I think she looks very wistful sat in her chair there.   Various inks were used including yellow ProMarkers for the girls blouse and skirt, the base card in all cases is cream.   Finished the card off with a piece of brown lacy ribbon.

Am sharing this with

No flies on you

On the news this week there was an item about science's latest theory on the mystery of a Zebra's stripes.   This time 'they' put some horse models in a field painted in various horsey colours including the famous stripes.   The models were sticky and after a period of time the number of horse flies stuck to them were counted.   The zebra coloured model had the fewest flies.   New(?) theory zebra's used to be back and developed white strips to stop the horse flies.   This theory begs a lot of questions will have to find the scientist's  and send them an email!

In the mean time the idea provided the inspiration for a response to this week's Less is More.   Chrissie and Mandi have set the challenge of one layer cards with stripes.   A Dreamweaver stencil and DI in Black soot.   A small dragon fly (no stamps of horse flies in my stash) and the words 'no flies on you' both stamped in DI Barn Door.

The colour scheme was directed by Annabelle Stamps colour challenge of Red Black and White.  The two challenges blended perfectly.
Yesterday morning at 8:00 yours truly was driving to work past snow covered fields.  The early sun was veiled by a thin layer of cloud, another photo moment.   Goodness only knows what fellow road users think of this dotty woman struggling over lumpy snow covered ground at that time of day!

OK got to go and collect something from the post office.

Just for Fun Vintage Man

It's Thursday again, do you think our routines of weekly challenges contribute to the seemingly rapid passage of time?  Just a thought.

Neet is guiding us through February with an overall theme of Men or projects with men in mind.   This week the challenge at Just for Fun is Vintage Man.   Check out the challenge site for Neet's terrific explanation of the theme.

Indigo Blu stamps are ideal for a theme like this it is the Pomp and Pageantry set I've used here.   First off another DL card this time shimmery ribbed dark blue card.   I hope the Union Jack is the right way round! it was coloured with  Whisper pens directly applied to the rubber and stamped onto white card.   Big Ben is Versafine grey on gray card, and the elegant gentleman stamped in black onto the white card, edged with Aged Paper DI.

Now, of course, I have to share this with Fashionable Stamping.  Vintage Men is so them.

Hope  you will pop over to Just for Fun and see both  Neet 's and Von's samples.   We are joined this week by Valarie who is Von's guest designer providing you with 4 different samples and inspiration.

Craft-Room Cute and Cuddly!

Oh yes you did read the heading correctly this is my Cute and Cuddly card for the new Craft-Room Challenge.   Julia is responsible for this theme, un-ashamedly a fan of Cute and Cuddly this was a natural choice for her.

The last challenge proved to be very popular and I have a sneaky suspicion that this will also be very popular.   I must also say sorry for not getting round commenting recently the shock to my system of going back to work has left me a bit under par at the week-ends but ever hopeful to get a system going again soon.

My Cute and Cuddle card then, Pink and Green a popular colour combination.    The green patterned paper embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, and the music themed charms scattered around.   Cream card and Silver Mirra card cut with nesties.   The very cute and cuddly cat is at PB stamp coloured with ProMarkers, the edge of the topper coloured with pink DI.  You know you want to tease me about this! I think I'm ready for it LOL

Remember our sponsor the Craft-Room online shop offer a prize £10 to spend at the shop, to win all you have to do is put a link to the shop in your sidebar.  Worth winning at the moment, the is 30% off all the stock.  You are sure to have a Cute and Cuddly creation just waiting for an excuse please share it with us at Craft-Room Challenge.

Less is More - Aqua

It's been a week and oh boy do I need to get inky.  Even then I was not able to even start doing things with card on Saturday evening until about 10 pm.   For all that I'm pleased with the result.

This week's 1st anniversary Less is More is a colour challenge - Aqua.    Thank goodness for ProMarkers and the cool aqua pen.   Simply scribbled down the card with the broad end.   Stamped the Fiskers Butterfly border over it with Momento Paris Dusk and then added some aqua coloured self adhesive pearls and some sparkly gems.   There is also an un-valentine challenge running this month at Flying Unicorn and I'll share this with them.

hopefully after a nights sleep I'll get more inky.

I love the shape and scale of where I now live and the drive to work through beautiful countryside with distant horizons.  Have simply had to stop a couple of time to try to capture the beauty with a camera.

Sun rise, just after 8am last Wednesday (1st February)   the line in the sky is a telegraph wire.

On Friday I left work at about 4:30 just as the sun was going down behind fields brushed with the lightest dusting of snow.   Cold and crisp and clear.

Just for Fun - Black and White

Goodness crafting has been a bit thin on the ground here this week, guess I'm well and truly back at work now!   Will make crafting time even more precious won't it.

At Just for Fun we start a new series this month Neet is our intrepid challenge leader.   Our subject this month is to be Men and all the angst that making cards for them can bring.   The first challenge in the theme is Black and White.

DL cards seem suited to men an easy place to start with some white card stock.  Black and White DP next, simple stamping in black on white card.  The greeting an old stamp laid flat, the (to my mind) strong masculine, image attached with sticky pads over a black mat.

There are sure to be some events this year that you will need a masculine card for perhaps February's challenges will give you a head start, starting with our black and white theme.   As always Neet and Von have made lovely samples will you share your projects with us at Just for Fun?

Now it just happens that Fashionable Stamping Challenge this fortnight is 'Its a guy thing' well have to share this with the Fashionable girls don't I.
