Craft-Room Challenge - Holiday Post Cards

Where the heck did April go?  It has been a good month lots of weather some of it really good did it get you thinking of days at the seaside?

Still blown away by all the fantastic entries for the last Challenge at Craft-Room Challenge I do not envy Mervi one little bit trying to select a top 3 from so many deserving entries.  Of course we have a new challenge for you today, hosted by Hazel we are looking for Holiday themed postcards.

This challenge see's the return of Crafty Individual's as our sponsor, they are giving a great little set of their products to one lucky random winner.   Thank you Jean and Malcolm.

Seaside towns have been the backdrop of my life, growing up one of our entertainments was looking at all the postcards in the giftshops.   Walking down the hill to the beach we would look at every single one in every single shop.  For my postcard I used Stamp set CI-284. which definitely  has the holiday/seaside feel.   The card is 4" x 6" stamped in Vintage Sepia, Inkylicious dusters and whisper pens coloured the background the girls were then dressed with ProMarkers.   The main images masked and a Personnel Impressions shell background stamped over the edges of the card.

The team have as always made terrific unique samples each in her own special style and all well worth taking a look at.   Please do, we are hoping you will be inspired to go on and make your own postcard to share with us, at Craft-Room Challenge

Windy Sunday

It's chilly and the heating is back on! Next week it will be May what the heck! climate change, can we change back please?

No; oh well just have to stay indoors on a day like this and get inky.  Having a really great inky messy day yesterday, 3 ATC's not shared here.   This morning has been about the sketch challenge at Less is More.   I love butterflies  and had to get this Wedgewood image when I first saw it today is the first time it has been inked.

First the sentiment stamped with Wild Honey Distress Stain and then masked.   The butterfly is stamped in brown, more subtle than black, and coloured with Whisper Pens.

Thought I'd share this with Fashionable Stamping for the second week of their Sentiment Challenge.  And, Creative Corner who also have a CAS challenge.

What shall I get up to now?

Unruly Paper Arts a bit of metal

April, beside being Autism month, has been dedicated to Metal at Unruly Paperarts.   You know me, you know I would have something to say about it!   So it was an easy subject for my latest column.

To learn more about this book and how i arrived at it you will have to check out the ezine Unruly Paperarts.

Glorious week-end isn't it?

Washing blowin' on the line a touch of sun on the skin ohhhh please let it last.

A colleague is just about at week 38, and her 3rd son is breech.   She had a scan on Friday we will learn tomorrow when her  newest son is expected to draw his first breath.   In the mean time we've just decided to get on and get a collection going.   Part of my contribution is, of course, the card.   Rachel is not really a sentimental cute type which allowed me to keep this fairly simple.

Just a set of dry embossed squares with the word Boy spelled out in mirra card.    Ted stamped and detailed with brass ep, he has then been coloured all over with shades of blue the white nappy is paper pieced.

The diecut with the word Newborn on is actually a better colour match than you see here I think the different texture of the two cards and the way they reflect light is why they look so different here.  Newborn is embossed with Silver ep, finishing touches 5 little pearls and a blue bow.

No greeting inside so room for lots of personal messages and this very cute stamp.   Well he has two big brothers so this scene might come to pass!

Thought I'd share this card with:

Fashionable Stamping - Sentimental
Here Come the Boys - Monochromatic Blue and Masculine
Hobby Cutz - Monochrome
2 Sisters - Blue &/or Green
Suger Creek Hollow - Baby Face
Crafty Catz - One for the Boys

Craft-Room - So Sentimental

Is it a little warmer might those be April showers?   Daffodils in flower and birds seen in the garden with nesting materials.   Might we hope that spring is finally putting in an appearance?  Lets hope so.

We have a new challenge for you at Craft-Room Challenge today.  Our hostess this time is Mervi who is also our Guest Designer hostess and would love you to tell us if you would like to be our guest for a challenge or two just put GDT after you name when you enter the challenge.

The challenge, oh yes.   Mervi's theme is So Sentimental with the request that you make a sentiment, text or script clear.   Of course we have a sponsor Tando Creative, for whom I am proud to design.

For my Sentiment a favourite Hero Arts stamp that says; 'Thanks for listening and being a good friend'.   First plain white card and a large Tando journalling blank.   Adirondack dye inks and those magical dusters.   Random colouring over the blanks and then the card stamped with Espresso ink.   Sentiment stamped and heat embossed swirls/flourish's added and highlighted with white pen.   The edge of the Tando piece touched with silver pen just to help lift it.  Nearly forgot the Tattered Floral velum flower, just happened to have it handy in my stash.

Have you got something to say?  Make it into a project and share it with us at Craft-Room Challenge.

Love WOW

White on White is a great favourite of mine something I love playing with when ever the mood strikes.   Over the holiday it is fair to say the mood struck.

Pre-cut board painted white with Gesso and a brayer which gave wonderful added texture.   A piece of net with white speckles laid over 2/3 of the board to be held in place with a clear glaze.   White paper flowers stamped with white and shabby white ep.  Shabby white is a bit of a cheat maybe as it has gold in it.  The last of my shaggy white fiber and some white lace, a pin and some sticky back pearl strip all added.   Hear resist acetate stamped with white ink and white ep, the shabby sprinkled sparingly so that not all the image is covered by ep.    This butterfly is raised off the board by a ring of acetate held in place by a white split pin.

Thought  I would share this with

Craft-Room - In the Library

Hello and happy birthday to all my Birthday Twinnies out there, you know who you are!

It is also my Blogversary 2nd April 2009, the IMPS were still youngsters bit like teenagers!   Yours truly a seasoned crafter just dipping her toe into the rapidly changing waters of blog challenges.  There has been a lot of change and hardly any at all!

Two years ago Julia and I were busy planning our soon to be new challenge, Craft-Room Challenge.   That has been another wonderful adventure, with a fantastic creative team we all delight in our challenges and the different ways people respond to them.   This challenge for the next two weeks is hosted by someone who has inspired me since I first came across her blog, Debi you remain a great inspiration.
Our sponsor this time is Rogue Redhead Designs, a small but growing range of high quality red rubber vintage style stamps.  Debi is on the Rogue Redhead Designs team, she was thrilled that it is a challenge she is hosting that they are sponsoring.   And Debi's theme is all about books, make a book, alter a book be inspired by reading a book or as in my case make a bookmark.   This time you really have to go and see that the team have made they have created sensational projects.

As mentioned my contribution is a bookmark.   You can find lots of You Tube tutorials on how to fold a corner bookmark, here is one of the very easy ones.   The square for the basic corner fold was first printed up using Dye based inks and my Gelli Pad, one of Rogue's background plates pressed onto the ink and carefully lifted away plain paper pressed onto the design.   The Green topper was started in the same way a couple of weeks ago and seemed to match well.  The seated girl and sentiments are more Rogue Stamps.  Stamped in Momento and coloured with Promarkers.

We are all looking forward to seeing how you respond to the challenge and hope you are going to join us at Craft-Room Challenge.
