Stampman 2009 Award

The Stampman are inviting us all to join in with a bit of holiday fun. There is a bloghop with a prize on each stop along the way, interesting and inspiring blogs to visit they are as well. We are also invited to review our own blogs for 2009 and select a favorite piece to share again here.

This blog was started in March to follow one challenge, I quickly discovered a world of challenges and from these many new blogland friends. This piece was made in response to a Something Completely Different challenge looking for Inchies with a face or faces on them. My idea was to stamp the face and gently colour it and encase it in UTEE. A cookie cutter was used to create the frame effect, the bubbles were an unexpected bonus.

Looking forward now to the challenges and inspiration that 2010 are bringing.

lots to do - LATE!!!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS everyone, hope you all had a wonderful day and that Santa brought you all you hoped for. He will have been aided if you did the shopping! Wishing you all a successful and happy 2010, thank you for visiting and looking forward to seeing all you do in the future.

Last week Lots to do set a free challange and then took off for Christmas. Well what with last minute makes catchin' up with friends and just generally lazin' did not actually make anything for the challenge until yesterday. Hilda and Sam might be kind and include it in the slide show but if not you can at least see it.

Canvas with layers of Glimmer mist growing darker to the sides, stamped with one of Inkadinkado's fabulous trailing stamps which was coloured with sakura. Dimension paste through Dreamweaver stencil, perfect pearls sprinkled onto the wet paste. Viva paste put on roughly top and bottom and smeared with Cosmic shimmer paint. More glimmer mist spots of Craftynotions rainbow glaze. Chipboard butterfly acrylic paint and more rainbow glaze then stuck onto the canvas. I've called it Summers coming.

Allsorts - Anything but a card

You might know that Masks are very popular around here! Luckly friends seem to like to re-home them, Carol is going to have this one. We went shopping for the blank several weeks ago now and it turned out she quite fancied a cat face, today was the first time I've had to see what i could make of it.

Gesso base, blue and silver acrylic paint, touches of pink! oversprayed with Pearl and Midnight blue glimmer mists. Altered glue so excited it came off the plastic in one piece and fitted round the face perfectly. Silver spray and shine wire whiskers and then gilding flakes on the altered glue, self adhesive gems around the eye sockets. The holes for the acrylic thread for hanging it up filled on one side with a gem filled brad and on the other with fibers a la Jack sparrow.

As its not a card! thought it fitted with the Allsorts challange which is anything but a card.

SCD - Butterfly tags

Something Completely Different are finishing the year this week with the last tag challenge for December and the theme of butterflies.

This tag is a little different it is butterfly shape on Anna Griffin 'Flora Collection' mat. Pattern traced with sakura glitter pen and quickie glue then sprinkled with glitter. The red butterfly is a Tattered Angle's 'chip' sprayed and then the embossed line traced over with quickie glue and greeen glitter.

Busy Busy Busy

No idea where the last couple of weeks have gone every time I thought the cards were all done I would remember someone else not all of them even got their photo taken. All done now and on their way. Thank you also to so many forum and blog land friends who have sent their cards to me so much beautiful work.

This is the card that went to Sue who actually asked me to put it into this weeks Tanda Teaser so here it is.

this is the inside a slightly more complicated version of the insert below. The difference is at the corners. The paper is 'In my minds eye' bargain at the Papermill sale.

Let me make something for you. Julia

Not so long ago, and maybe still active at some places, there was a chain offer inviting you to receive a hand made something in return for making the same offer for 5 people to sing up to, well you could sign up to it if you wanted but you might not have been heard signing up was better! Hilda made a beautiful canvas that you saw a couple of weeks ago. Only Julia took me up on the offer and yesterday she received this mask. Not everyone's cup of tea but Julia sent a lovely note to say how pleased she is with it, and that is what it is all about.

Maybe in the future I'll re-run the offer watch this space.

Lots to do & Incywincy - Snowflake

Second piece for today, another Christmas card! Did say that last week's snow man was the last but then Hilda set this week's Lots to do bless her she wants a snow flake or snowflakes. Well what is a girl to do?

Snowflake printed acatate, Mrs. Snowman, puff paint & a bit of torn paper. Colouring by Promarker. Different sized sticky pads used again to give Mrs. Snonwoman a rounded effect.

Just realised that this also fits Incywincy designs Where the theme is also Snowflakes. How good is that?

SCD - Marilyn Monroe

Well its December!!! when did that happen? Being a new month it is time for a change at Something completely differnt for this month the subject is tags and the theme set by Dawn is Marilyn Munroe, she's havin' a laugh!
Well Printer is playing up and not that keen on printing images anyway - it comes from working on a computer for a living. So had to resort to pencil, promarkers and hope, chose the skirt in the air draft as it is such an iconic image and guess you will identify the subject from it. Having attached the image to a tag shaped card the whole was given a quick spray of slimmer mist and the image was given a coating of glossy accents.

Lots to do - Which is your favourite Black & Greens?

Sam set a truely delicious challange over at Lots to do this time. You are asked to visit the Black & Greens site to choose your favourite flavour. Mine is Maya Gold, the colour band on the wrapper is a warm orange so I have gone for that here.

Saw these frames recently and just had to try and do something with them. Now i can cut nesties layers of overlapping circles in Black, Green and a a shimmering black/gold paper were cut and layered on. Each circle is held with a small glue dot. These were then sprayed with Gold spray and shimmer. A paper rosette/flower was torn from an autumn leaf paper held in place with a brad. Some braiding and sticky back gems have been added just for fun.

Lesley a good blogging friend has done some wonderful things with these frames is you have a moment to check her blog out it will be worth the visit.

Allsorts - Buttons

Second posting today, well its so dark and wet staying in and playing is the only thing to do. Hope you are all safe and dry and we do not get a freeze anytime soon be a bit to rink like for my preference! So back to the cards and this one might just be my last Christmas card not promising but could just be Christmas carded out...

The challenge at Allsorts this week is to use buttons, thank you Lisa. Got boxes of buttons some I inherited from my Grandmother 45 years ago!!!others are more recent the buttons on this card all come from cloths long since forgotten only the buttons remain now. Have I mentioned that Yellow and Red is one of my favourite Christmas card combinations? Yellow and Red is one of my favourite Christmas card colour combinations. The blue kitchen paper is a recycle, a while ago I used Blue Stayzon and then cleaned the stamp using a spray cleaner mopped up with kitchen paper which made a wonderful background sheet. Gems and stickles and ribbon for sparkle and texture.

SCD - Red & Green Snowman Tanda Teaser Xmas Song

Gosh it has been a week since I posted, have been busy playing (& working not so much fun) but this is the first make to show you at the moment.

It is the last week of Christmas cards at Something completely different don't know which one of the DT set the challenge but they are looking for Red, Green & a Snowman. Have done something a little different with the inside of this card. After posting remembered that this will also fit with Tanda Teaser which is a Christmas song Waling in the air is one of the most popular Christmas songs of recent years! Thanks for the challenge Wendy

The idea came from a promotion card we received at work the folds are simple I have taken a couple of pictures as this one was made up.

The paper starts square and is pictured from the reverse. The horizontal is a vally fold on the reverse and the two diagonal are mountain. Trim off the corners so that just under 50% of the sides remains.

Push the folds so the the paper is folder in half on the horizontal fold. Attach to the inside on the card with the horizntal fold line up with the card fold sticking the paper at just the top and bottom of the card. there is a slightly mor complicated version of this that i'll share with you another time.

SCD - Blue White and Snowflake

Hope its OK that there are other colours on this card? It is such a shame that Ang (not the same Ang) is not keeping her blog anymore, used to enjoy popping over and seeing her lovely work but very happy that she is still on the Something Completely Different design team. This week it was Ang's turn to set the theme, we are making cards this month very different for this challenge site! The task this week is to use Blue, white and a Snowflake.

Background the spellbinder snowflake die onto white copy paper and brayered with Hydrangea torn in half layered under and over the snowman vellum. Blue pen dragged down the top piece to make sortof icicles, washed with blue glitter sakura, clear sakura washed over rest of torn page. Snowman stamped in blue and coloured with Prokarkers, love the Snowman and wanted to impart the warm glow hence the yellow outline. Cut out and decouparged with sticky pads of different height so the snowman's tum sticks out a bit. Snowflake brads to help hold all the layered papers in place.

Lots to do - November Recipe Swap

Every month there are lots of swaps amoung the Lots to do forum one regular is Ang's recipe swap. This month we are making an ATC, a FBP, and a Skinny each of which has to have a Moo, an animal, Stars, a hat, red and green.

Black card and Green Moos 3 of the 4 wonderful little Lindsay Mason fun stamps I have collected. White puff paint, sakura pens, stickles, black ep and even some star shaped gems. Did actually stamp in versamark Dazzle on the corragated black card but because it is corragated the mark faded away.

The Lots to do challenge this week is a free theme. I found the forum after joining the challenges for a few weeks so will enter this into this weeks challenge.

Have fun this wet windy sunday.

Allsorts - inspired by a Christmas song

Kirsten Has given us all a great theme this week at Allsorts your piece has to be inspired by a Christmas song. The DT work is all Fabulous if you have not visited go and be insspired.

My song is the 12 days of Christmas, this partridge in a pear tree stamp was one of my first stamps from oh gosh years ago. Still a firm favourite he just looks so silly. Another first having given up with the cuttlebug a Big Kick now has pride of place in the crafting area and it cuts nesties! Yes I know but for what ever reason just could not get a decent cut with the bug now finally my cards can be adorned by nestie plates just like everyone elses!

Corragated card white vellum brayed with Big n Juicy 'Hydranger'. Main image stamped in Memento black cut to shape card dragged over Big n Juicy, and coloured with Promarkers. Holly stamped several times also coloured with Promarkers and cut out. Images and mats layered up, main image and holly coated with glossy accents.

Remember my offer to make something for you?

Went to Brighton today

Back in February read an article about the flocks of stirlings coming to roost on Brighton pier at dusk. Since then it has been an ambition to go over and watch. Today was the perfect day, after the storms the skys were clear and the wind was calmer so I hopped into the car and went. Decided not to take my 'big' camara suspect it would be to hard to get a worth while picture. My 'little' camara is always in my bag.

Got to Brighton parked near the seafront with time to wonder around the town before dusk. There are two piers in the town one active with amusements on the end even in November the place is alive and busy. The other is just the ruined end standing alone in the water un-attached to the beach in its own way very beautiful. Anyway walked along the front and up toward the shops and the famous lanes. Met an artist Mervin selling his black and white portraits on a steet corner he also had a fabulous picture of the ruined pier was hard walking away from that.

Finally the day wore down and over toward the sea a small flock was playing in the sky, time to head for the seafront. By now I was very near the active pier and so was a growing flock of stirlings. Admission to the pier is free I wondered up on the left hand side watching the amazing show of birds swirling around in formation, swooping as a group toward the sea, which was churing, and back up into the sky. Coming closer and closer to the pier then out to sea and spreading out coming back togather in a ball of flight, smaller flocks flew in to join the main group and other groups split off flew toward the beach and then back out to the main flight. The formations undulating in rytham with the sea. Birds would fly under and over the pier but the main action was on the left (east) side near the amusement area. Sometimes a group would fly along the length of the pier lower than i was standing and it was possible to see into the formation and grasp the whole 3D structure of the group.

The whole time the sky from the horizan up provided a back drop to the action with the dark dull sea churning and meeting a beige coloured sky the beige turned yellow then orange and green and finally blue broken only by streaks of white cloud.

The birds were settling, silent in flight, their chatter could be heard from beneath the pier floor especailly close to those areas with solid floor rather than the main pier planks. The sun was setting so I cut across the pier to take a couple of shots with my bag camara. Out over the wrecked pier swirled a big black cloud, more birds obviously coming in to roost there for the night. This was a big group and seen from a distance the patterns and formations they made were magical watched them for perhaps half an hour until the sun was gone and the last now much smaller group slipped out of sight.

It was the perfect day to go and watch this fantastic sight. Amazingly only one other person even seemed aware of the action she joined me early into the show and we enjoyed it togather from then on going our seperate ways at the end in the early dark.

Body parts ?

On leave this week last few days before the year ends. Started with the storm on Saturday and pretty grotty weather until today, not to mention the power cuts but Southern Electric have adopted me as their new best friend and are now keeping me fully informed and want to make sure I'm happy with them! Wonder if that means they will call me before the next power cut? Well no power no vacumn works for me.

Had a great day yesterday with Carol we did'nt actually make anything well apart from the mess but had a lot of fun. Thanks Hun.

Hilda is running an atc swap at Lots to do you have to include Body Parts in your pieces! These 3 uses Nick Bantock inks, English Stamp Company hand and foot and a Judykins cube I picked up at Ringwood the other week. Glimmer mist just to add a bit of sparkle.

SCP - Pink & Christmas Tree

Friday 13th nothing to it, Saturday 14th now thats another story. I have a week off now but thought it would hit the fan by about Wednesday... nooooo had to go back in to the office this morning just for an hour or so. Not a hard thing to do with the storm we lost our electricity about 9am so guessed it would be back on by the time I got home...... nooooo got home two and half hours later no power. You would think this was an ideal opportunity to craft? ....... noooo seems there has to be background noise and a heat gun for that! After 3 and half hours, just when I was calling to find out how long the power cam back so thats OK then. No idea what happened but very much hope no one was hurt by the cut.

So now it warm & noisey again the second of two cards made for Something completely different challenge this week has been finished.
The challenge calls for a Pink Christmas card that must include a tree. Crackle embossing paste through a tree stencil with glamour dust sprinkled down each side. Peeloff parcels on different papers some of last year 'Anita's' gold printed vellum and a stamp/embossed greeting. The greeting was what the hear gun was need for.

Card one uses the cuttlebug tree folder touched with glue and given some pink leaf gilding. the BG is Crafty Individuals 'Travels in Italy' fell in love with the pad at Ringwood a couple of weeks back. Some of last years 'Anita's' vellum has been layered with the CI paper, a strip of CI tops it all off. Season's Greetings from a Tanda set.

The Claus'

Good morning in case you have not noticed Christmas is coming! Like most of us have been busy making seasonal cards and thought I'd share these two with you.

A avid visitor to craft shows (made it to 5 this year!!!) one stand i make a beeline for is the Penny Black and their bargain box. It was in this box that Mr. & Mrs. here were found. Stamped in memento black and coloured with Promarkers the images were then torn out of the card. The 'white' areas have been touch with puff paint that has not been puffed. Backing paper is from this years Do Craft pad the pre-printed greetings came from the same 'goodie bag'. Peel offs just add a little sparking trim.

yep used peeloffs and did not alter them! used pre-printed greetings and only altered them with some glittery chalk!

A sad anniversary

On the 12th November 2008 a colleague was killed on his way to work in a RTA. Tomorrow some of us from work are going to lay flowers at his memorial stone. My cards are not always popular at work but the only cards in the shop are 'in sympathy' feels wrong for an anniversary so i made this. Wanted it to be very plain and simple just white and silver with the leaves just tinted in green. Inside it simply reads 'thinking of you.'

SophistiCat - Wings

Don't think I have entered this challenge before but this week's SophistiCat challenge is Wings. Had the idea for this card using this lovely pair of angles. Stamped onto acetate and coloured with Promarkers. Backed to white paper with eyelets and then attached to white card with the cord.

Colouring could be better sorry about that. BTW have you seen the new season sets of Promarkers?

SCD - Holly & Ivy Gold Green Red

Dawn set this weeks Something completely different challenge. A very traditional Christmas card using Holly & Ivy in the colours Gold Green and Red. Dawn made an inspiring sample as have all the DT.

Gave me a reason to get my favourite holly stamp out stamped onto green card cut out and given some green glitter glue and red 3D crystal Lacqure for berries. A simple sample of season greetings stamped and embossed in gold on cream card which has been dry embossed and stroked with a red ink pad. The holly stamp has been used in dazzle versa mark onto the red card and a gold met seperates it from the greeting.

The longest and hardest part of this card waiting for the sticky stuff to dry..... Wonderful way to pass a damp dull Sunday afternoon.

Winter weddings can be so magical with cool colours and lots of sparkle. Amanda set the Allsorts challenge this week. Following a family wedding recently the DT are looking for wedding related pieces cards, scrapbook pages, gift boxes anything fitting the theme.

This card uses Gold and Green as the principal colours, the bride and groom were stamped onto card and embossed in green, stamped again onto lace paper embossed in gold and just the bride cut out. Kanban cardstock provided the frame all embelished with paper & silk flowers and a few gems strategically placed. Inside one of Wendys pop out stencils provided the arch, sides of the paper punched with twined hearts the piece sprayed with glimmer mist 'Frozen Lake' and 'iridescent gold'. the card inside has been lined with a sheet of basic gray stamped and embossed in gold with the defination of Love (a Craft Stamper freebie) finally more of the Kanban card has been cut and trimmed to go under the arch & the punched hearts filled with glossy accents sprinkled with Glamour dust.

Now who is getting married that this card can be sent to?

Strange Links

While I am sure Kym's cards are lovely they are nothing to do with me. Links to someone else's site have appeared at the bottom of the comments section of at least my last 2 postings. These links my lead people to think that I in someway endorse this other site . The site you are directed to has nothing to do with me and does not have my permission to add a link from here.

We all go 'blog hopping' and follow all sorts of links its part of the fun of being part of this community quite possibily you found your way here on a blog hop! We all enjoy (hopefully) the journey and lessons found along the way, where you go next is a treasure waiting for you to find it. Trying in direct more traffic your way by cheeky opportunism on others Blogs is on, at least not in my world view.

Have a good all and enjoy your travels.

Thank you, the links have now been removed.

Lots to do - Inchies

Lots to do is asking for inchies this week anything goes just include an inchie. Do go and look there are some fabulous entries.

Gave me an excuse to play with some of yesterdays acquisations. The inchie stamps are inkadinkado 'Spring is here' stamped with dye based inks that I have not used before but fell in love with yesterday. The ones that come in a square metal case with an inchie image in the lid. Images coloured with sakura and then given a clear glaze with ep. A border folder run through the bug and lots of direct to paper in different directions just for the heck of it.

RSS 8 - Black Silver & Lilac Christmas

This is the card I really wanted for the Ready Steady Stamp challenge but for some reason thought it had not been stamped until my friend pointed at the Merry Christmas stamped and embossed down the side! Just completely absorbed by the Diamension crackle paste. Perfect pearls just sprinkled while the paste was still wet.

No crafting this week-end what with computer probs yesterday and today going to a small Craft Fair at Ringwood. Had a wonderful time spent far to much and left wondering why bother with the bigger ones?! Hope to catch up with challenges in the week and of course drop by your blogs to see what you have been up to. Have a good week.

RSS 8 - Black Silver & Lilac Christmas

RSS came up with a great recipe this time:
C is for Christmas
Lilac, Black & Silver
A Skinny (2" x 4")
Crackle of some kind.

Wonderful colour combination. Used a duflex card for the silver stamped with Tanda's Crackle background embossed with Cosmic Shimmer lilac. Love how heating the powder caused the silver foil to crackle as well. Various other stamps stamped onto card that had been coloured using the shaving foam technique.

Tenda Teaser - Kind Thoughts

Gosh have you had problems logging onto blog land recently? Wonder what that was all about. Seems to be back now hope it sticks around missed going and seeing what everyone has been up to.

This week Tanda Teaser is Wendy's choice. The idea is to remember a friend or family member who needs a little support. Thats all of us at one time or another. My card then is a floral hug.

Tanda stamp from Floral set 1, used on the background as a resit and on the main image with Perfect pearls. A little glimmer mist over the main image to sofen the white and carfully lifed off the image. All trimmed with a very old fiskers corner punch.

Let me make something for you.

Good friend and talanted artist Hilda has posted on her blog an offer I could not refuse. The rules are strict so please read them and if you would like something made by me just for you leave a comment at the end of this posting.

The first five (5) people to respond to this post will get something made by me.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. Whatcha get is whatcha get.

2. What I create will be just for you, with love.

3. It’ll be done this year (2009). This is my deadline to make something you for, it may be that you want to change this to some future time such as Easter 2010. Provided you make your committment clear then no one will mind.

4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful. Or it may be monstrous and annoying. Heck, I might bake something for you and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!

5. I reserve the right to do something strange.

6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your blog post.

7. Send your mailing address - after I contact you.

While you're at it, check out Hilda's blog. Her work is outstanding and her journal stunning!

A christmas card

Could not find the spark for challenges this week-end, perhaps inspiration will strike during the week?

Did make a couple of Christmas cards and do need to crack on with those. Thought you might like to see this one which uses Sue's new stamps for Tanda The Santa in the sky and the night sky are stamps from my stash. A little puff paint for a hint of snow.

SCP - Inchies Faces

Its the penultimate week of Inchies over at Something completely different the challange is to include a face on your piece. Did'nt know inchies could be so interesting to make.

The face if from Rubber Stampede 'Faith' stamped in black stayzon onto a thick card inchie. It has been delicateky coloured with Sakura and perfect Pearls. The whole piece has then been encased in UTEE which then had a cookie cutter pressed into it making a frame. The bubbles in the UTEE just seem to add to the image.

Tanda Teaser 119 - Just for men

Wendy is thinking of the men this week with a Tanda Teaser just for them!

Red & Yellow one of my favourite combinations especially at this time of year. Tanda Celtic corners with red ep and Tanda Man Tracks stamped in Adirondack Pitch Black. Another quick and easy card.

Allsorts - Monochrome Christmas

Brenda set the challenge this week at Allsorts she has come up with a sketch and then she said make a Christmas card in Monochrome. Now Brenda would like us to use a single colour but walking into the village this morning designing it in my head these layers of white were very persistent so sorry Brenda but my monochrome is very white.

Diamension forth snowman, and old Anita's 'let it snow' snow flakes from stash. The snowballs are purple balls coated with gesso! and some acatate preprinted with more white snowflakes.

just realised that this fits the Daring Cardmakers challenge as well which is for something clear on your card. The acetate may be at the back but it show clear to the white card base.

Body Shop Tub 2

Something a bit more cheerful. You might have seen a few weeks ago a Bodyshop tub that I had altered, well this is another one.

The leaves are Tanda stamps onto the waste from an acrylic paint palette and embossed with either green or gold and then cut out. Layered and decoupared onto the lid with Glossy accents, some orange glitter and gold leaf flakes were sprinkled into the wet Glossy accents, the gold leaf turned green as the stuff dried! disappointed at first but quite like the effect now. Fibers have been wrapped round the body of the tub, making a little trinkeet box.

Thought it would make a second entry into By the cute and Girly who fortunatly allow non cute types like me to enter.
