A little resist

The longer light evening was a real delight today adding to the magic of this morning seeing a hare dashing across a field and back this morning, and on leaving work this evening coming on a Tawny Owl and watching it fly off from its perch flying low across a field hunting.

Came home with time to have a little play after a busy week-end it was great to just play with the inks and a new stamp.    Inspiration for a quick card came as it so often does from Less is More.   This time the challenge is to incorporate three previous LIM challenges into this one.   Somehow a one layer card is how my CAS cards usually come out, for this one the image stamped with VersaMark and them ink brayered over so the image appeared as a resist.   A little bling helps it pop so the Butterfly body is Glammed  up.   The challenges recycled here All the One Layer Weeks. Use Blue, Include a Butterfly(s), Off Centre, Use Ink, Add Bling.

One stop Craft are also looking for Clean and Simple this week, so I'm entering it there as well.

Garbage in

A not so little canvas, 70cm x 50cm I think.   The piece that is for the office, the MD has not seen it yet but at work today it was well received.

The business recycles plastic, all those plastic bottles and things you put into your recycling bin and the bin itself.   We are one of the places it goes to, where it gets broken down into small pieces or powder to be used all over again.    Some of those 'chips' and also some of the waste from the Lab have been included on this canvas.   I also grabbed a couple of old computers from there recently all those yummy computer thingies to play with.   A couple of circuit boards and a cable have also been incorporated here.

A big white canvas once covered with blue GM and CS Spray became easier to work on.  Pastel sticks, acrylic paint, alcohol ink, glue, Viva Craco and Viva Ferro have all been used well it is mixed media!

Bling, Glitter/Sparkle

Time for a new challenge at Craft-Room, you loved our last challenge and we think you'll like this one as well.

Set by Debi who wants to see Bling Glitter/Sparkle.   We have another terrific sponsor this time and perfect for the theme.   Rare bird home of all things Friendly Plastic.

My piece is a FP broach.  Firstly three sticks of FP provided the small pieces connected here as the base.   With some stiff ribbon like 'stuff' over the top for the FP to ooze through a heart shaped cookie cutter cut it into shape.   With the FP still warm a silver backed bead has been pressed into it.   A small piece of pink FP softened and cut with another little heart shaped cutter and merged onto the top.

Some mount board cut down to fit behind Sandwiched between FP and mount board some lace and three little strands of seed beads ending with the chips of pink stone.

Maybe a bit pink and girly for me but this is Bling Glitter/Sparkle with a fabulous generous sponsor.   The prize is one of Rare Birds jewellery making kits.

Time to get out your glitter and sparkly stash and share a blinged up project with us at Craft-Room Challenge.

The passage of time

Had a little play yesterday, spent a lot of the week-end working on a commission piece have to live with that for a few days now to see it if works or not.

With that at least started I felt free to just get green again.   This panel is corrugated card scored on the diagonal allowing one half to be stripped while the other remains covered.  An old clocking in card stuck to the panel.   Over that some patterned vellum fussy cut from a 12 x 12 sheet.   Next some stamping the Time collage stamped onto cream mount board in Green and then another play with the new dusters and some DI.   The floral skull stamped with Ancient Page ink and then coloured with Whisper pens to knock back the stark white.   Three Mother of Pearl buttons attached on the other side an eye glass and a clock face charm add interest.

Fundamentally this is a green and kraft reflection on the passage of time.   It is also my entry to

Allsorts - Three in a row
Corrosive Challenge - Things are looking Grimm (my first entry here)
Fashionable Stamping - Second entry to their Bingo challenge with Metal, Distressing and Vintage.
Crazy 4 Challenges - Use some Green

Well its Monday the week-end is behind us have a great week.

CAS Mask

Visited Harrogate yesterday for the Great Northern Papercraft Show for the first time.  It's a well organised and laid out show but for me was a little dull.   The hall is clearly used for Animal showing with a plain concrete floor and shallow grooves, I guess I'm used to tiled floors.   The lighting left a lot to be desired that coupled with well no excited buzz was a shame.   Did not stop me spending LOL

Treated myself to a set of Inkylicious ink dusters.  Seen some beautiful work with these, a softer way of blending with great results.

The Less is More challenge this week is to Mask.  Perfect theme to try the new toys out with.   The Tando Flourish Ring Frame just held in place by hand on a square card.   Adirondack Watermelon and Stream dusted over.    Clarity sentiment (words! perhaps I'm still on last week's LIM) stamped using the same Stream.

I'm sharing this as well with Gingersnaps challenge to use just two colours.

Just watched the Australian F1 race on the BBC, my favourite Mr. Button had a great win lovely to see and hear him buzzing in his interview.   Looking forward to an exciting season.

Celebrate Green

Blimey it is certainly Spring here in the UK, a glorious week-end and a week of damp misty mornings.  Being back in an office I'm glad of the longer daylight hours and getting to see daylight at each end of the day.

The last couple of evenings I've been bring the season indoors and enjoying green.   I do love the cool colours especially green in all it's many magnificent shades.   So this Watercolour board (A4 size) is a celebration of it.   13 or so years ago at a gardeners show there was some amazing art on display a garden or part of a garden from an insects point of view.  Completely blew me away I spent ages just looking at this painting and admiring everything about it.

This is a pale attempt at a similar idea just looking in at all the life in variety with more out of focus than in.   Nick Bantock inks used on the board first and then Glimmer mists.  Lots and Lots of die cutting TH and Marinne finally some paper flowers also sprayed with GM.   Had intended to do some stamping but in the end decided it was un-necessary on this.

I would like to share some green with
Allsorts - Say it with flowers
Suger Creek Hollow - Monochrome Green
The Hybrid Chick - Lucky Green
Scrapper's Delights - Luck of the Irish
Pile it on - St Patrick's and/or Shades of Green
Kaboodle Doodles - Show us some Green
Use it Tuesday - Green (from my older supplies Green Vellum, Green Glitter, Green Card, Glimmer Mists, in fact only the Marianne die and a couple of the paper flowers are less than 6 months old)
Paint time Tuesday's - Monochrome
Whimsical Wednesday's - Green

What a glorious week-end the colours of the sky as sun went down inspired the background for this page.   A page for a book I'm making for myself.  It has a cover that I'll share another time and now a page.   Journals have become very popular in the last couple of years, not feeling the urge to express myself in words I'm making picture pages on a when and as the mood strikes basis.

For this page once the colours were in my head it was distress inks to  paper.   Over stamped with the net from Rogue Redhead and the seed heads from Eco Stamps.   Then the page was run through an embossing folder with the balloons, the embossing highlighted with a swipe of an inkpad.    A nestie cut mat coloured with the same background inks and then stamped with the dress makers birdhouse Eco stamp.   Some of my favourite cotton lace stuck down the side and the nestie layered over it.    Part of a vintage earring with a pretty green gem on it.   Threaded some flower shaped buttons with green ribbon and added them at the bottom.

Decided to share this with one or two challenges

The Stamp Man - Vintage theme
Fashionable Stamping - Bingo Metal, Distress & Vintage. or Lace, Distress & Buttons
Gingerloft - Spring
Ippity - Things with wings, that fly, things in the air
2 Sisters - spring colours
Crazy 4 Challenges - Use Spring as your inspiration

After all the glorious weather this week-end can you believe that snow is forecast for the next 3 days!

Glorious spring day, got out in the garden and gave the green stuff it's first trim of the year.  Will have to be good this year and not start planting until I've been here a while and seen what there is in the ground already.    Think there might be one or two nice surprises.

Checking round blogland first thing saw that Less is More this week is a one layer week with the theme of script.   Words and sentiments do not figure much on my cards but I do like the Indigo Blu,'Sarah's Choice' with a plate of definitions the fabulous paint splatted frame.   Using Smooth white card the words stamped in Versamark.   The frame coloured with Whisper pens stamped over and then masked.    Big and Juicy 'Waterfall' brayered over bringing the versamark words out.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge are also looking or words, no image just words.   When I know what this card is for the sentiment will be added inside the frame.

Tando Creative Spring is in the Air

It is Mothering Sunday in just over a week at least it is here in the UK.   So when making this sample for the Tando Creative Challenge it was very much in mind.

The heart and banner together with the words 'Mums Kitchen' are one of the fabulous Tando Creative sets.   For the hanging the heart was simply covered with some K & Co paper, the words painted with shimmery paint and stuck on.   The little heart on the banner painted with the same kind of paint in pink while the rest of the banner coloured with Nick Bantock ink sponged on.    Some Deco Art Modeling Paste splattered over the top.   Paper flowers touched with more ink and pressed into the paste with sticky back pearls in their center's.

Our theme is Spring and we are challenging you (and ourselves) to use a spring in the project somewhere.   I thought springs attaching the heart to the banner would be fun with another to hang the completed project.   Simple springs made wrapping wire round paint brush handles.

Tando Creative Challenge is a monthly challenge so still lots of time to share your spring projects with us and maybe win some Tando product to play with.

I'd like to share this with

Cool Wings

A little more messy inky fun.  Been playing around with this and that, love the cool embossing folder from Couture Creations called Vintage Dressmaker.   The flowers are coloured with Moon Shadow Ink Burnished Brass not a new product but new to me and I love it.

All the other colouring and stamping done with DI in blues and greens and purples.   A few watch parts and crown charm just seemed to fit as did the strip of lace and old pearls.

Thought I'd share this one with

Craft-Room Shabby Vintage

Thank you all for the fabulous entries to the previous challenge at Craft-Room Challenge, it was the last one sponsored by Craft-Room on line shop.  There is not a lot of stock left at the shop now and what there is, is 50% off, the shop will cease trading completely on the 31st.

We have a fabulous group of sponsors going forward starting this fortnight with Crafty Individuals.   Thank you Jean and Malcolm.

The challenge this time is the responsibility of the terrific Mervi who has asked for Shabby Vintage.    My oriental theme came about after choosing the beautiful Crafty Individuals vintage image of the beautiful Japanese lady.    The latest thing to use in paper crafting seems to be Washi Tape, not (yet) having any I used a sheet of origami paper and some ds tape to improvise.   Mulberry paper and vellum give more layers and textures in shades of yellow to compliment the brown ink and base card.   DI's blended over helping distress the paper and tape edges.   Because of the oriental them I added a little Mizuhiki knot and some small paper flowers to suggest fallen blossom.

As is so often the way the team have come up with Shabby Vintage samples that really put me to shame please take a look and maybe visit them with a comment.   While you are there we would love to see your ideas.    Don't forget there is a fantastic prize to be won from our sponsor this fortnight Crafty Individuals

Green Monochrome and a Tanda Teaser

Well no hope of cutting the grass today! but as we have a drought the rain is welcome.   Time to get inky again.

I've not had time to join in with the Tanda Teaser recently but today hope to put that right.    Simple card in shades of green, the dragon is from one of the Tanda sets stamped in Stayzon.   The dots are a fabulous stamp designed by Sue who set the challenge not to us designer background papers.  A couple of Nestie mats coloured with shades of Green DI.

There are a couple of Green monochrome or Green themed challenges around as well and as I love green they proved impossible to miss.   They are,
Paper Sundaes - Green or Good Luck
Hiding in my craft - Monochromatic Green (gold is very closely related to green)

Less is more Neutrals

Where'd the sun go?  Had plans to cut the green stuff today but not with on off rain, electric and rain not the best mix.  Well that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

This week's Less is More has once again captured my attention giving me a bit of an excuse to play and may be get just a little inky.   The challenge this time is to use Neutral colours.   La Blanche stamp onto cream card with Versafine in Sepia, fussy cut and coloured with whisper pens in brown/beige.   A little hessian mat and some raffia.

Wonder what it will be like in the morning!
