LTD Post Card Swap

This month to the end of February I am hosting a post card swap on the Lots to do forum. These are my 3. Been a busy day but not crafting the IMPs thought the vaccum had been exchanged for craft goodies had to demonstrate their error, sorry about the bad language.

Old rubbadubbadoo horse found in the bargain bin recently along with the tassel, stamp bug ink splog and word Art. Quotes from Hero Arts. Lots of metalic cats eyes and GM.

Butterflies and Dragonflies from Stampbug. Background brayered with a mask, butterfly quote also from Stampbug, the other quotes Hero Arts. You might not see them on the photo but there are viva pearl dots and sakura fill in on the butterflies

Creative Expressions godess. The panel on the left is the same stamp where the resist went wrong, too much GM.

Wonderful messy time, good craft fix makes going to work tomorrow easier.

SCD - Cats

Third and last piece today. The last Friday in January so the last of the Arches for now on Something completely different the theme is cat. Well living with 3 cats and with the name of the late great Chaos being part of my online name for so many years now how on earth could this one go by without me?

You may also know by now that texture and quirky are part of my style explored this week with pale blue paper perfect. A chipboard arch stamped with the cats image that was then masked. Words were stamped over the entire piece, the paper perfect laid on top and down one side and dried with a heat gun. Viva ferro Golden Orange touched over and around the first layer and dried. Viva metallic paint in ice blue and Coral touched over everything. Glimmer mist in tattered leather and Iridescent Gold sprayed on and dried. The mask was then removed just watercoloured sakura was used on the little cats eyes.

Tuesday Taggers - Jig-saw, Tanda - Ink it up

Wow have just realised that it was my number that was drawn on Tuesday Taggers for last week's linky, chuffed or what! (and slow or what they posted it on Tuesday when they posted this weeks challenge).

Great challenge this week we are asked to use a jig-saw piece or pieces in our work. Bookmark naturally springs to mind. Grung paper, Nick Banktock inks, gold embossed swirles, dream weaver single rose stencil with gold diamension paste and viva metallic paint in Mother of Pearl. The grung paper was cut with the cuttlebug die first and then the layers of ink paste and paint applied. The 4th piece is attached to the whole by 2 jump rings. The piece remains in one piece because although the die cut through the three pieces have not been seperated. On the reverse are different coloured pieces of card stuck on and stamped with little messages in French. The book mark will find its way to France soon - Wonder if the person it is for will read this :)

Tanda's teaser this week is ink it up so am entering this.

Lots to do - Tag

Hilda had the bright idea last week of leaving a clue for the following weeks challenge on Lots to Do did'nt help a bit :) This weeks challenge is to make a tag in an unusual shape. Went to the greengrocer today (for those that don't know the local Pick your own has a great range of fresh fruit and veg and a comprehensive range of craft goodies) while there picked up a new do crafts goodie bag which included a flower shaped tub of paper flowers. the packaging once removed from the backing left a flower shape mark cut this out to make the base for the tag. Also in the bag a new rabbit image and phase, paper flowers sticky back gems and ribbon, the brads and glue came from off the top of my craft table.

Bunch of flowers stamp from collection. Background butterflies from Basic gray papers.

Moonlit cats funstamps, the moon coloured white and filled with glossy accents. The swirl is the Craft Stamper dragonfly stamp. Lots of Sakura and direct to paper background.

Lots to do - Main white

This week on Lots to do the idea is to use white as your main colour. Hilda has made a couple of beautiful striking examples and I urge you to go take a look at Sams blog her piece is just so right! Lucky me Sam has said she will give it to me how generous is that?

This was a great excuse to rummage in my scrap boxes oh yes there are several but how many do you have? The backing is from Lasting Impressions not scrap, with a torn piece of white paper lace over laying it. A scrap of white corragated card and the negative of a Sissix swirl cut from white wash but not distressed. the white flowers came I think from HOTP kit, the bird image is the 'waste' from a resist technique its one of my favoriate Penny Black stamps and seemed perfect for this.

Tuesday Taggers - Left overs

This week the challenge at Tuesday Taggera is to use some of your Christmas left overs for your piece. Have quite a selection to choose from the first picture shows the sets used for the card in the second one.

DCWV for the base card in a buff colour, In my minds eye papers and two K and Co chipboards face down. The Topper, Tanda Mack set 2, is also a left over made it for another project recently but it did'nt suit so it found its way into the scraps box until this evening. The rose motif bottom right is from the same Tanda set. Thanks Tuesday Taggers think its a good start to my 2010 Birthday cards.

Gingersnaps - Metallic

Not entirely sure that this qualifies as it uses metal not metallic effects, except for the GMs. The newest challenge at Gingersnap is to use metallic paints and effects on your piece. A new challenge is set each week and each one lasts for 4 weeks giving you plenty of thinking time and plenty to think about.

This piece is an 18" x 14" canvas coloured with acrylic paints and then sprayed with GM's and memories mist. TSS metal in Pearl and Dark Chocolate cut to size, the two un mounted panels were textured on a TSS plate, two were run through the big shot with the owl and the tree embossing folders and the final piece of pearl wrapped around 3 canvas boards to create a plain raised panel. Two small canvasses were painted with Glimmer mists and Memories mist. Everything was then attached to the canvas with strong glue. Steam alochol ink was rubbed over the embossed pieces to remove some of the coating adding defination and relief to them.

A colleague has decorated his living room cream and brown in a minimal style. He has also been very compliementary about my stuff so this is for him and his partner. Bit too neat and tidy for my style, was very glad where the paint got under the masks and messed the stripes, painted over them leaving them a bit messy and fuzzy much more my taste!

Lots to do - Travel/Transport

Good evening, managed to make a quick atc this evening for the Lots to do challenge which is Travel Transport.

The ballon is a Clarity stamp flying over a Viva Ferro landscape. The Ferro has been coloured with GM and Cosmic Spray. Hightlights of Viva and matallic paint and dots of Viva Pearl pen. Am loving all these bright colours and textures we have now with GM, Cosmic Shimmer and Viva. A plain atc was also sprayed with GM and Cosmic Shimmer spray. The phase 'The journey is the reward' is a Butterfly Kisses stamp used on the Ferro while it was wet and then in an old favourite Lightening Black on the base card.

Nice mid week session, makes going to work tomorrow easier.

SCD - Fashion

The January theme at Something Completely Different is to work on an arch. This week it is a fashion themed arch, think these ladies are pretty stylish and fashionable for their time. It seems they are reading the Vogue of their day to pick up extra fashion tips.

The stamp is Tanda's from their Far East 3 set embossed in fine detail gold and coloured with Sakura. The edge of the arch was inked and dipped in red ep, the emblishments are from my stash.

Gingersnap also have an embossing powder challenge going on. Use ep a lot so have not made a specific card for the challenge but an entering this arch.

Tanda - A touch of lace

When Sue set this weeks Tanda Teaser with a theme of lace she probably did not have lacing up in mind. It was the very first thing that came into my mind, a gatefold card with a lace up close.

I've used Sue's own Mack Set 2 for the stamped and embossed images watercoloured with Sakura glitter pens. The dry embossing is from one of the Glitter girls boards and to complete the front self adhesive gems. Inside is a plate for writing a message and the corner right is repeated.

Tuesday Taggers - a Tag and a Bird

Feel better now, not been able to do any crafting this week until last evening, finished this morning. Have been trying to get round to everyone's blog but not always stopping to say Hi please forgive me time has just been against me.

Hope i have this right, Tuesday Taggers have set the challenge this week to make a tag with a bird or a card with a tag and a bird on it. The base for my tag is K & Co Designer matt, the bird stamp embossed in red is Inkadinkado. The tage has been distressed, alchol ink in yellow orange, red, green and silver dabbed on. The January cover stamp from CS randomly stamped round the edge in sepia, a touch more alchol ink to blend the stamp in. The words stamped and embossed in gold and a piece of altered ink layered across the top and finally from the left fading to the top Nick Bantock Van Dyke Brown dragged on with foam.

Its Friday morning off to work in a Mo and then (finally) its the week-end, a friend is visiting on Sunday so not sure how much crafting i'll get done this week-end.

SCD - Happy New Year

Something Completely Different are back with a month of Gothic Arches. This week the theme is Happy New Year.

I've misplaced my WS lattice arch so used her plain one as the base here. Punched the letters with some scrap paper, the middle arch is basic gray while the lady peering into her crystal ball is from Tanda, Dragons and Fantasy set 4, coloured with American Craft pens and Pro Markers. Prima flowers because there will be flowers again very soon.

Still freezing here and there is more snow forecast for this evening. This is the south coast for goodness sake...... there will be flowers soon.

Lots to do - Winter Wonderland

Remember that little cold snap we had last february? It snowed and was cold/freezing for a day or two. During that spell Sue Law took a couple of pictures of Jack Frost windows. For as long as i can remember Jack Frost windows have been magical the wonderful patterns always different always so beautiful. Sue was generous enough to let me have copies to use and an earlier use was one of the first entries on this blog.

So today Hilda set the first Lots to do challenge for 2010. We are asked to make something on the theme of Winter Wonderland. Jack Frost is my winter wonderland.

Image printed onto acetate, Inkadinkado bird stamped and embossed onto a piece of card cut with a nestie and coloured with the die still in place. The sentiment is a freebie from Paperartsy.

Gingersnaps - Time

Having found Gingersnaps had to go back and see what the next challenge is, its Time. There is the most wonderful stamp plate offered as a prize making it a very tempting challenge. This was going to be a canvas until a package was delivered wrapped in this great corragated card.

Peeled some of the top layer off to expose the corragations, then got busy with both TH and Tattered Angles masks and sprays. DB's black and copper, cosmic shimmer and GM. Viva Tarra paste dried with a heat gun to make it bubble and then coloured with Cosmic Shimmer green paint and Viva matallic paint. We R Memory Keepers metal embellishments, other wire and metal embellishments and a torn clock card. Not at all what i had in mind but with all the matallic colours and shimmer makes an interesting wall hanging.

Tuesday Taggers - Black & White

Recently found and started following Lyn aka Blackdragon and from her pages Tuesday Taggers who do not restrict you to tags. This week they have a monochrome theme. So here am I stuck at home because of the snow presented with such a fun challenge. Well who could resist?

Really like to stamp in white onto black card, the image is not crisp white but is a softer still clear result. The main image, a creative expression stamp, has touches of white glitter, the clarity trailing plant image has touches of sakura. the white inkpad is Adirondack Lights 'Snow Cap'.

Lots to do swap

Swapping season is open again! at Lots to do Forum Andrea is running a 5 green theme Moos swap. The silver lining to todays snow was the time to make these. They will be in the post as soon as Andrea.

Green Theme is colour and recycle, all of these were made with offcuts, rejects and scrap from the 'save it boxes' add a bit of ribbon and or bling here and there some stamping a zentangle and they are done.
Went out earlier but conditions not good enough to recover the car - hope it is ok where it is!

Also today found out that i am one of the lucky winners for the The Stampman Blog hop 400 brads am thrilled not just to win but also with the cool prize.

Other recent mask

Having a day at home the car is about a mile away but no point in going for it as the roads are treacherous not sure what will happen tomorrow the forecast is for a clear sky tonight and temperatures in the negatives, so it would be an ice rink in the morning. Guess I'll just have to get the ink out.

As most challenges have been on a break and are only just getting going again not found very much that has grabbed my imagination so here is another mask that i made up recently.

A colleague liked the last 2 so much that this one is for them. Dawn Bibby's black and gold spray over black gesso. Pink glimmer mist in a couple of places. Basic grey swirl stamped and embossed in gold and touched with pink gilding flakes. Viva, metalic paste coloured with Viva matalic paints. Altered glue, dots of Craftynotions Rainbow Glaze & a feather. It was very well received.

Stay safe if you have to go out over the next few days.

Gingersnaps - case a cas

Gingersnap Creations is one of those blogs that I've not joined in on before. Last Wednesday they set something called once in a blue moon inviting you to look at some fabulous Clean & Simple examples made by Ali Manning Ali has done some stunning work in a minimal style. This card was inspired by CAS cards with patterned paper

However rather than use paper I have used 2 stamped images and some versamark on card. The stamps are made to order by Tanda Stamps This will be the Birthday card for a non crafting friend who lives in the US. When she came here on a visit we went to Stonehenge which captivated her. In the gift shop there were various post cards for sale including one taken at night with comet Hale-Bopp in the sky. Hale-Bopp only visits once ever 4 thousand years, on its previous visit the henge was either not yet built or newly built. Add to that relativity and the imagination just runs away, well mine does.

Not the best card in the world and I'll probably do another on the same theme but this one is loaded in ways the next will not be.

Back to work tomorrow hope the roads have cleared for you. Stay warm stay safe & have fun.

Tanda - Pretty as a Peacock

This Tanda Teaser is all about colour. Wendy set the challenge which will last for two weeks, the idea is to use Peacocks and Peacock colours as your inspiration. There are a couple of peacock feathers in my porch the colours are amazing being iridescent they shimmer and seem to change as you move them.

Green Mulberry paper provides the mat, on top of which is layered a piece of glossy card, a sizzix swirl and finally a peacock topper. The glossy was coloured with Adirondack 'Stained Glass' which has the greens blues and purples of a peacocks tail. Using Ranger resist Tanda's stylised feather was stamped in two corners. Brilliance copper was then brayered over the top this was from a tear drop pad so the result was patchy and allowed highs and lows from the undercoat. Cosmic Shimmer paint smeared over the swirl. Tanda's Art Nouveau Peacock coloured using Whisper pens cutout and edged with the copper capped it all off. I'm really pleased with how the colours work on this and how the glossy card reflects the shimmer.

Doodling with intent, a few of us have discovered these recently. This one was drawn while watching TV and just vegging out am really quite pleased with what came out the end of my pen. This is also my first entry in the journal that Hilda made for a swap last year. got a long way to go with both Zentangles and Journals but first steps and all that. If you would like to more about the ideas behind Zentangles take a peek here http://www.zentangle.com/index.php Have fun.
