Just for Fun - Anything but a card

Nearly the end of September and what a month it has been!    Packing now well underway the move is not far off.

Usually when we have a five week month at Just for Fun we make the 5th week anything goes.   This time Von suggested we might add a twist and make it Anything goes except a card.   So that is what this week's challenge is anything but a card.

At 'The Works' they have these 6" x 4.5" canvasses with easels.   Coloured the easel with Distress Stain, Walnut Stain and then went over it in places with Peeled Paint.    The canvas has been painted with Ranger Dabbers, various light greens went on first some with a paint brush some with the sponge top.   Next some Eco-Green glue run across the canvas and also in a kinda flower shape top left.   When the glue was dry I went over some of it with Pearl Dabber.   The little 7UP can stuck at the bottom of the only un-coloured glue line.    Earth tone dabbers here and there and then some Tando cloud shapes which have some blue Paper Perfect on top.   Needing something to stick them to the canvas with, spread a smear of Viva Ferro across the canvas and stamped into it with Tanda Stamps Crackle that had just been dampened for easy release the clouds pushed into the wet paste.  Another Tando Stamp, the grass, stamped alone the bottom and onto the little wooden plaque with Pearl Dabber. Added the reindeer moss and wooden plaque and there it sat.

Chatting on the telephone one evening the raffia in its box caught my eye grabbed a piece of that and some shells.    That was it, lots and lots of interesting textures here and a lot of fun in the making.

Some stunningly creatively people regularly join us at Just for Fun so looking forward to seeing what they and anyone else who joins us comes up with.

Nick Bantock ink at the Craft-Room

I was so pleased when Julia (Craft-Room) got stocks of Nick Bantock inks, they are such a pleasure to work with.   The colours are bright and positive, as dye based inks they are super for stamping, water colouring and blending.

For this tag Rose Madder and Van Dyke Brown were blended over the tag with a make-up sponge.    The images, Clarity Stamps, have been stamped in Damson Plum and Prussian Blue.   The Damson Plum was dragged into the image with a water brush.   Seam Binding ribbon also coloured with Rose Madder and Van Dyke Brown.

I've had my inks for some years now and love them.

Tando Challenge - Rustic Charm

Have you seen our fabulous monthly challenge at Tando Creative?  Our first challenge in August started quietly but those of you who found us shared some amazing work with us, and they lucky winner received fantastic prizes.

This month the theme is Rustic Charm.   My sample is a note book or sketch pad.   A4 sheet of card cut down and stamped with one of the wood grain stamps Andrew at Tanda made up for me a couple of years back.   With a base in place one of the new Tando masks (bird and Branch) used as a stencil and coloured through with DI.   One of the small Tando book plates coloured with more DI along with a long leaf from the tall leaves set.   Both of these were then covered with Crackle Accents.   Lots of white paper cut down to make the pages and my trusty Cinch used to put everything together.

If you are interested and want to know more about the challenge take a look at Tando Creative Challenge.

I'm entering this into

Just for Fun - More than four edges

Green is a favourite colour of mine as well, loved your projects last week lots of lovely shades of green.

This week it is my turn to choose the theme for Just for Fun.   I'm looking for your projects flat or 3d that have more than four edges.   Any shape or style with lots of edges.

I have made an easel card, the upright has been cut using a Nestie scalloped circle.   The metal leaves were cut with the tattered leaves die and then coloured with alcohol inks.   The clock face is the center of the TH clock used previously stamped with an SU clock and also coloured with alcohol inks.   The green back plate has been stamped with a Paperartsy stamp and then worked with TSS metal tools to puff the design.

Do you have an edgy design to share with us this week at Just for Fun if so we would love to see it.

I'm also entering this in
My Craft Spot - Autumn leaves

Craft-Room Challenge - Anything Christmas

Thank you all once again for sharing your great projects with us at Craft-Room challenge.    This time our Sponsor and fellow team member Julia has chosen our theme.

It's that time of year when the Count Down to Christmas has started and so Julia thought we would help out with a theme of Anything Christmas.   Anything at all a Card, some wrapping paper, decorations, tree decorations, anything at all we are keen to see it all.

For my card I've used Tanda Stamps again, this time the Penguin Christmas set.    White DL card covered with hand made white paper and then some white pearlised card that has been embossed with a cuttlebug folder.    The same card has been punched with a snowflake punch and these stuck on with silicon glue.    The penguin's were also stamped onto this card with Memento touches of colour from Promarkers.    White puff paint under the penguin's feet and on the edge of the giant snowball/sentiment.

Have you got your Christmas list ready is there something on it that you would like to work on and share with us at Craft-Room Challenge.   Always worth having the Craft-Room shop logo with a link to the shop on your sidebar if you do enter.  Julia sponsors us with £10 to spend at the shop for each eligible entry.

Have you seen our Treasure Hunt? there is a great Indigo Blu stamp plate up for grabs!

Another Christmas card

Yes this is No.6 or is it No. 7 this year LOL   Think there will have to be a few more yet.

Nothing used on this card is less than a year old including the base card stock.    Not that it will stop me adding more seasonal things to my stash this year.    Off to Ally Pally on Sunday with the move just a short while off it may be my last visit there.

So a Christmas card, DCWV base card over the top a cut down sheet of Basic Grey paper.    Some old red twine attached top and bottom.   Nestie cut cream card stamped and embossed in gold Aged Mahogany DI blended round the edges.    A little more ribbon for added interest, think it is quite an old fashioned looking card.

I'm entering this card into:
Penny black at Allsorts   -   Get ahead for Christmas
Christmas cards all year round  -  Only use things that are more than one year old.
Crafters Companion  -  Christmas Wishes
Oldie but a Goodie  -  Christmas in September

Blue and Silver

Hooray, found time to have a little play yesterday!

Have had this frame in the pile of to be fiddled with.   It is a not so cheap, cheap plain wood from from the children's section of that big crafter's supermarket.

Painted the frame with Weathered Wood Distress Stain, when dry embossed it with Tanda's Klimt Borders.   Then painted over it with pale blue paint dabber and reheated the ep.   This pulled the ep forward but not quite enough so it was stamped and embossed over the top.    Viva Gloss Gel in Blue and Transparent for the coils and flowers, Viva Pearl Pen added the dots.

Inside the background is watercolour paper cut to size and 'painted' over with a naked water-brush to lay down a layer of moisture.   Various blue inks and paints were then dripped or sprayed onto it.    Some heat resist acetate has also been cut to size then stamped and embossed with Tanda's Klimt set 2.

No surprise that this is my entry this time to the Tanda Teaser which this fortnight is Blue and Silver.   Sue who runs the challenge also designed the Tanda stamps used.   This also fits Alter it Monthly where this month the challenge is 'Tree, Branch, Leaf and Twig'.

Right back to mundane matters, have fun

Just for Fun - Shades of Green

Defiantly a wonderful collection of vintage projects some creative and inspiring projects once again thank you all. All of us at Just for Fun really enjoy visiting and seeing your work.

This week we are looking for shades of Green.   Sam may have left us but this is her challenge choice, Sam's favourite colour is green.

Believe it or not it is possible to have too many cards and so I've made a wall hanging instead.   A strip of green satin material cut up making it tatty, some green sequin waste over the top.   Cut the flower out of a place mat, set of 4 from the £ shop, and sprayed it with Green Glimmer Mist.   Green felt ribbon, Tyvek coloured green and cut with Tattered Flowers Die Cut.  The cut and heated some Friendly Plastic oozed some made some flowers.   These were all welded together with heat gun and the odd dot of glue some green fantasy fibers laid over the top and blasted with the heat gun to fuse them together and to the wall hanging.

You know how much we enjoy seeing what you make of our challenges so please pop on over to Just for Fun and join in.

Less is More - Seeing double

The last few days have been very un-creative in fact my Mojo went on holiday.   The move is going to be a little later than anticipated hopefully will get a date nailed down next week but will have to wait and see.   The IMPs had a half hour drive in the car the next test for them is an hour drive and a few miles on the motorway.    Hopefully they will go to sleep.

Did get stamps out today and had a little play.   The L.I.M. challenge is 'Seeing Double' something stamped twice.    Using Clarity stamps First the Masai in outline using black memento, masked and behind him stamped the image in block form, using DI Aged Mahogany.   Coloured the first impression's robe with Promarker, cut a mask so that the image was covered but the robe could be stamped.   Over stamped the robe with a Fiskers boarder stamp in gold.    Grounded the images which then needed something in the distance to be looking at.    Clarity mini Giraffe stamp in Versafine Gray just slightly off the edge sorted that.

Right back to trying to get on top of everything, Shaw trust are coming in the morning to collect some of the clutter.   Just the garage to sort now.

Just for Fun - Vintage

Happy Thursday, did you enjoy last weeks Just for Fun challenge of Words?   Certainly some fantastic entries again, thank you.

This week Neet has selected our challenge which is a style one.   Neet has chosen Vintage a great favourite of hers and of many other crafters.

A new to me Tanda stamp, from their Aqua range, is this vintage sewing machine.   My late Aunt had one just like it and used to run up all sorts of things.   I have no idea where it is now not sure it was in the house when she passed in 2000 but if it was then it will have been sold along with everything else.

It has been stamped here onto pearlised card cut in a nestie layered on two other nestie cut mats.   DI inks used on the topper edges and also on the tan coloured base card.   The little sentiment is also a Tanda stamp, one of a set of words Andrew ran off for me a couple of years ago.

Do you love Vintage? why not join us at Just for Fun this week Neet and Von have made wonderful samples for us.

Craft-Room Challenge - Home Decor

Lots of interesting projects over the last couple of week's at Craft-Room challenge.   Guess it was a bit quieter due to the Summer Holidays thank you to everyone who joined in.

This time our theme has been chosen by Maria, her excellent choice is home decor.   Make, alter, distress, re-cycle anything you want so long as it can be used in some way as home decor.

For the chalk board this started with a child's blackboard from The Works.    Painted the wood frame red with a Memento ink pad after first covering the blackboard.   The ink needs time to dry on the wood so left it over night.    The frame was then stamped with Tanda stamps from their Art Deco sets, the roses on the rose border were highlighted with Glossy Accents.   While that was going off some red metal was cut to fit inside the frame and trimmed.  Using stayzon more Tanda Stamp images stamped onto the metal and then using TSS tools traced the design and puffed the images from behind.   Metal stuck to the blackboard with redline tape.    Some imitation roses attached at the top with some black fibers echo the rose border.

If you look you probably have something at home that you might like to revamp it would be lovely if sometime in the next fortnight you gave it a new lease of life and shared it with us at Craft-Room challenge.   If you display the Craft-Room shop logo and a link you will be entered in the random draw to win £10 to spend at the shop.    All the Tanda Stamps used and the inks are available from the Craft-Room.

Cat in the frame

Well the weather did clear up yesterday but by then I was inky with this so carried on with it.

This little Tando frame and base comes with two smaller frames nested within it.   Having seen that Stampalot challenge this month is to feature a frame seemed a good idea to use this little cheeky kitten stamp from Tanda Stamps.    The floral design's are from Tanda as well.  Stamped the cat in SU Suede coloured with pale orange Promarker, Glossy Accents used to brighten the eyes.   Cut the image out in such a way that it could sit over the edge of the frame.   Stamped and embossed the floral images and the ladybird coloured them with Promarkers and then sealed them with glossy accents.   Next Distress Inks blended over the backing and the frame and also the two smaller frames used as an easel.     Stuck everything together and added a vellum butterfly.

Guess what, you can find a lot of the things used in this project at Craft-Room!

Less is More - Colour Metallic

Hello!   What happened to the lovely weather the angel's are showering again this morning, they are very clean angels.   So no trip to the tip today with more de-cluttering stuff.   It is hard to believe how many 'useful' things and boxes have been tucked away here still a lot of it is going to charity shops and other good causes.   Anyone in the Eastleigh area might pop into the Shaw Trust in a couple of weeks if you are looking for alterables LOL

Not a lot of time to craft but have to have little bursts even if getting round to you all is shall we say slipping a little.   I am sorry and hope you understand that sorting a move and de-cluttering is a time consuming occupation.

This card is for the Less is More challenge this week which is a colour challenge to use metallic colours or effects you can even use real metal.   I have taken two little Tando pieces and triple embossed them with copper coloured ep.   While the final layer of ep was still warm and soft pressed into it with a Clarity stamp inked in black.    The background for the two pieces is gold thread ribbon and the squiggly frame Sakura glitter pens.

Now I'm going to sort all my peel offs for a special school but shock horror I will be keeping some!!!   If the rain stops I'm going to the tip.   Hope your day is more entertaining.

A card for a Man

If you are stuck for a card for a man and the man in question enjoys taking photographs you might like this set by Creative Expressions its been around a while but is new in at the Craft-Room.   I was thrilled when Julia got this set (and one or two others) in, gave me an excuse to get the set out again.

Using a DL card on it's side Tattered Rose, Crushed Olive and Aged Mahogany blended on to it.    The film strip stamped down one side and lined up on itself to extend it all the way down.   The little silhouette stamps fill some of the frames.   The man with his camera is stamped onto deep red  card but on a nestie and then edged with gold leaf pen.    The sentiment stamped and gold heat embossed on more gold edged card.    I'm sharing this card with:-
Crazy 4 Challenges  -  Male themed card
2 Sisters   -   Boys and their toys
Challenge up our life  -  Something for a man
Suger Creek hollow  -  Make it Masculine

Just for Fun - Words

After another fabulous week and month of colour challenges at Just for Fun, we move on into September.    This is a 5 week month for us so each of the team is taking a week and the fifth will be an anything goes week more about that when we get to it.

This week Von has proposed the theme which is Words.   Don't use a lot of words in my art and craft but thought a newspaper has lots of words ideal for this.    The base is water colour board covered with newsprint and then painted with white gesso.   Next a La Blanch stamp of the rose in versafine green, then a few sentiments stamped in sepia.    Tattered flowers and tattered leaves dies used with more news print, flowers layered up held together with a brad and then sprayed with silver spray and sparkle then stuck to the board with a leaf tucked under.   Little paper flowers dotted around and some lace wrapped around the board and tied.

The different things people come up with never cease to amaze me, both from the rest of the team and our 'players' if you would like to join us we are Just for Fun.
