Lots to do - Embossing

While this last week has not been any quieter, visiting the Lots to do entries last week think I learnt a new technique or two thank you.  One of the many wonderful things about our caring sharing art movement is just that you are all such wonderful sharing peeps.

So this week the theme for our challeng is Embossing.   I've used a Cuttlebug embossing folder and grunge.  Now there is not a lot more I can tell you about that because this is also my entry to Linda's Compendium of Curiosities #23 Double Distress challenge.    Can tell you that Shabby Shutters and Vintage photo were used.     The stamps are from Creative Expressions stamped with Timber brown stayzon.

There are so many ways you can emboss paper, acetate or any craft project looking forward as always to seeing how  you respond to us this week at Lots to do

Tuesday Tagger - Make a Decoration

Hi Tuesday has come round very quickly, here we are again the first day of another Tuesday Taggers challenge.

With Christmas preparations well underway many people have finished their card making! Not me I confess but getting there. Anyway back to Tuesday Taggers this week we are asking you to make a decoration.

Mine is an Advent calendar, well dial made with a Tando set it is shown here from 3 angles.   Canvas coloured first with B&J and then sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer, Glimmer Mists and Crafty notions.  It looked so good a firm tone was needed for the chipboard and blocks to be added.   While the paint was drying the snowflake and spinner were covered with gilding flakes.   The two tree outers and the dial were coloured with Viva Inca Gold in Lava Red Gold Green and Gold, the reindeer was coloured with the green and given golden antlers.   It was also stamped and gold ep used on the body.  The two tree inners were given a covering of green glitter.   The three blocks (thank you Hilda) were painted with Promarkers, a cake decoration was glued to the front after they were attached to the canvas.   Tando do make a set of Advent numbers but with the dial face partly through a tree they would not work in this case so a set of stickon numbers were coloured with Lava Red and used on the dial.    Lots of gems have been dotted around and glitter use on the block were the dial and tree are glued.   The snowflake is held in place by a band of acetate keeping it proud of the canvas and with added movement.

Lots of different decorations to be seen over at Tuesday Taggers. This is also my last week as part of the Design Team there it has been a lot of fun and I've met many talanted crafters going round seeing all the fabulous responses to each weeks challenges.
Something completely different are looking for projects with numbers this week, there are a few numbers on this piece which is entered in their challenge. Which will also appear on the Tando blog later in the week.

Lots to do - Favourite Technique

Saturday morning and another week-end whoopie its sad really when I was out of work getting this temping opportunity was and still is great but now routine has kicked in and by Friday afternoon I'm counting the hours LOL.

This week at Lots to do Hilda suggested we share our favourite techniques and ask you to do the same. Easy right we all have a favourite? Why then have I spent week wrackiing my brains about this?

Firstly and fundamentally I'm a rubber stamper at least in paper crafting terms so rubber stamping is the obvious choice. Thats the easy part now which stamps on what and why. The last page of the Lots to do Revisited forum has been waiting, the prompt is Arsnic and Old Lace. Technique and subject all that remained was the making of it. Stamped the chap onto my 5" square and masked him, blended the board with DI, removed mask and coloured him with Promarkers with some glossy accents on his hair and shoes.  Pearlised card punched with MS deep edge punch down both sides and attached over image so he can peep through the trellis. Lady stamped onto basic grey paper front and back cut both out so that the coloured side could be used as her dress. A little off white lace gathered into a little rosette pearls stitched into the middle. Finally some Perfect Pearls poured into a little bottle and attached to the front of the lace.  Not a bad way to start the week-end.

Got a favourite technique, hope you'll pop over to Lots to do and share it with us.

21st Birthday card and news

Card first LOL

One if my colleagues, Ella, is Polish and it is her younger sisters 21 birthday in Decmber.   Having made the engagement card for her it was impossible to refuse when she asked me to make her sisters birthday card.    Ella is on the left as you look at their picture.   Fiddled and faffed getting prints of the picture off the computer the rest well just the usual.   The numbers were coated with WOW puff ep jurys out on this still.    Cuttlebug folders MS punch some pretty lace and flowers from QVC to match the girls dresses.    Ella loves it and the Polish greeting inside.

The news oh yes

You know how much i enjoy using Di's Tando chippie? Well Di had a DT call
not for a challenge blog but to peeps to create things using her fab product and invited me to join the team. If you pop over to the design blog you will find links to all the DT and see their work on the Tando blog.
Why not visit

Sorry blogger published early!

The wall hanging from yesterday is made using the Tando jigsaw set and there is lots more in the planning.

My entry for Linda's great fun weekly challenge based on TH's Book. This week is all about Alcohol Ink splatter you'll have to look on page 52 to see the how to. but I don't have a can of air so had to improvise.

Suspect my choice of colours might be a bit dark not sure. Love the way the matallic lifted when heat was applied and how it resisted the archival ink. Am using this for my 9th page in the Lots to do revisited forum Grunge page swap, the prompt for this one is going postal.

Tuesday Tagger - A project based on a word, Peace, Joy, or Love

Another week gone if I have not visited you recently can only say very sorry things are settling down again now just got to concentrate on Christmas! Guess we are all doing that busy time for us crafters with presents to make as well as cards, decorations not to mention the table.

With Christmas in mind the fabulous Janet one of the founders of Tuesday Taggers set this week's theme. We have all been busy with our projects based around one of the following words Peace, Joy or Love. Do pop over to the Challenge site and see the great projects the team have come up with.

Have chosen to use the word Joy, needed a three letter word as there are just 3 jigsaw pieces in Tando set. Jigsaw pieces coloured with Viva Inka Gold in Lava Red. Letters coloured with green gold then stamped and embossed in gold with little holly leaves. The star, also Tando, coloured with silver paint. My favourite holly stamp stamped and embossed on Grungepaper, cut out and then coloured with Pro Markers. Jigsaw pieces hinged togather with brads a couple more brads and some self adhesive gems and some red wire to make the hanger.

Which of the words will you chose for your project and what will it be? Looking forward to seeing what you share with us at Tuesday Taggers this week.

Lots to do - Friends/Friendship

What a week, don't think I've recovered fully from the Nec last Sunday and another busy week at work my craft mojo went into hiding hoping that comes back this week-end.

Lots of fabulous Autumn colours around in blogland last week great to see thank you all.

This week at Lots to do we're all about Friends and Friendship. It was great meeting up with Alison and Hilda last Sunday two lovely girls and great friends, so we are celebrating friendship. A theme to take anyway you fancy and those two have done brillient things with it.

As mentioned Mojo went awol so this is a card I made about 3 weeks ago for another blogland friend who was very poorly and in hospital. Here in the UK we used to take a bunch of grapes with us when visiting family and friends in hospital. Visiting this time was a few thousand miles and a stretch water known as the pond out of the question. Stamped and embossed the grapes into grunge paper and coloured them with Promarkers and cut the image out.    The image is also stamped onto the first mat and the topper stuck with silcone of differing thickness to give it diamension.

How will you celebrate your friendships?  we are looking forward to seeing your projects.

Tuesday Taggers - Silver Gold and Purple

Thanks to those of you who joined in our Oriental Tuesday Taggers challenge last week real pleasure to visit and see your work.

This week Ildiko has picked our theme. The challenge is a colour one using Silver, Gold and Purple as well as some sort of stamping.

I've gone back to making Christmas cards this one an easel card, glossy card brayered with B&J Mountain Meadow. Three kings stamped in black and clear embossed. Kings coloured with ProMarkers mostly purple and some gold and silver, the camal rug on the nearest camel has been filled with gold and silver leaf. Star also stamped in black and partly filled with silver leaf. Base coloured with DI swirl stamped and embossed in silver.

Not a common combination Silver and Gold but it works and can look outstanding check out the rest of the teams samples and join the challenge at Tuesday Taggers

Christmas Traditions - Sir Stampalot

You may just have noticed that things don't repeated a lot round here, its my short attention span and low boredom threshold.  It means that all the Christmas cards are different.

This one was made with a Dreamweaver Stencil and chalks.   A Greeting that has been in my stash for ages, some ribbon tied in a bow.   Scolloped nestie touched with gold on the edges and stamped with a PB image.   A few star shaped gems to finish.

Well if they are all gonna be different quick and simple is important.    This is my entry for Sir Stampalot November challenge which is Christmas Traditions.

Lots to do - Autumn Colours

You already know about the fabulous day last Saturday at Sir Stampalot. This is the 4th card we made, well started in my case and then finished here. Brenda who designed the sample we worked from has said that its OK to use it here as my sample for Lots to do

Lots of stamps were used in the making of this card they were added in layers, but first we applied DI to the base card and then a little blast of GM then the stamps, the top of which was clear embossed. The edge was then treated to matallic dabbers. Suspect there are some ideas here I'll use again LOL.

Our theme this week then at Lots to do is Autumn Colours, still lots of inspiration on the trees still and a lovely pile of dry leaves earlier yesterday (before it rained) just round the corner. Looking forward to seeing what you make of our challenge this week.

CofC #20

Industrial Grunge to be found on page 54 of the book is Linda's technique for the challenge this week. Great fun to do but what had me wondering to do for the challenge this week. The wings are Sizzix perfect for some grunge board AI mixatives and DI and generally roughing up. After that just needed something to hang them on, using watercolour pencils I've drawn a rough sketch of a man's back more interesting than a woman's back I thought LOL.

To find out more about the technique you'll need to check the book or visit TH's site. To enter the challenge and there are always fabulous prizes visit Linda to find out how.

SCD - Blue and Red

October has been and gone, Something Completely Different set a colour challenge each week in October that last set on Friday is Red and Blue, not any old Red but Claret! Seems these are the colours of football club.

Most of the cards I'm making lately are Christmas cards (yesterday's non Christams being the exception LOL), this is one of my favorite Santa images stamped on white paper and clear embossed, coloured with Promarkers, white puff paint used on his hat, pompom and beard.    The Swirl embossed with Cosmic shimmer is by Hero Arts picked it up on Saturday.  Well you didn't think I went to Sir Stampalot and came away without buying something did you?

Last years Papermaina vellum with Christmas greetings snow flakes punched out glitter glue used to hold it in place punched snowflakes dotted around card.   Red glitter follows the lines of the swirls at the top.

Tuesday Tagger - Taste of the Orient

Good morning Tuesday again already!   Well it was a great week-end with the workshop on Saturday.  One of the lovely people there was my Tuesday Taggers teamie Sally great to meet you at last and see you magic at work in real life.

Well Halloween is now behind us and Christmas is looming! Time to do something different and have a break from all the seasonal stuff! Can you guess who chose this weeks theme? yep yours truely and well don't we all need a little break from Christmas cards? I love Oriental and mizuhiki cord only wish there was more time to get better at tying it.

The knot here is Kame Musubi (Turtle knot) The Turtle in Japan symbolizes a long life.   The Gashi is a Tanda stamp from one of their 4 Eastern sets.   Whisper pens in Black, Yellow and Red directly onto the stamp stamped and embossed with holograhic ep.   The little topper mat was first cut with a plain oval nestie, Tanda bamboo in black round the edge and then Viva Inca Gold rubbed on the edge.   The whole topper was then covered with clear versa mark and clear ep melted over it a couple of times.   Must remember to use tweezers and stop burning my fingers.   A strip of oriental paper (Papermania I think) down the center gives a background to the work and seems to help bring it forward.

The team have made some lovely samples this week please go and take a look we hope it will inspire you to dust off your Oriental crafting stamps, papers and materials and share your Oriental themed work with us at Tuesday Taggers
