Craft-Room Challenge - Use your scraps

Oh Whoops well no surprise with this post maybe sorry been a while since i dropped this size clanger LOL.

Finally a sunny week-end did you enjoy it?

We have a great new challenge for you this time at Craft-Room challenge hosted by Esther and sponsored by Stamp Addicts.

The theme this time is Use Your Scraps.  Some of us don't keep their scraps this was a bit of a problem for a couple of the team which they overcame with style and flair.   Others of us probably keep to many of our scraps and this is a great opportunity to use them up.

I fall into the too many group, which caused it's own problem which to use and what to do with them!    Solved with a piece of watercolour board some torn papers (you might spot some left over from the last C-R challenge) kitchen towel used to clean Gelli pad.   Left over card from a die cut, and a previously used mask on eclipse paper.   The die cut butterfly, ket and birdcage are also scraps left from projects that they did not work out for.   Having made my arrangement and glued it down, DI vintage photo blended over the top with my wonderful ink dusters.   To completely tie it all together some of the design lines and crease lines were marked with quickie pen glue and then covered with gilding flakes in a sort of marble marking.

If you have a scrap or two to use up and it fits your project then please share it with us, just tell us what the scrap is!   The team being much more sensible than me have made wonderful samples with their scraps give them some love please.

More White on White

Having had a great time yesterday, and yes I did get the card.   I also brought a new toy a Spellbinder Artisan X-Plorer basically a die cutter for thin and detailed dies and from yesterdays trip that is the only thing used for this card!

You know I love WoW this idea with the two owls has been growing in my imagination for a week or so now.   Very simply a circle of white lustra paper punched and stuck to card blank.   Dreamweaver stencil (trees) taped over the top and Imagination crafts Sparkle medium pushed through.    The owls die cut and also from a TH tattered garland die some twigs also in white card.   The twigs make a branch for the birds to perch on.    Simple wedding invitation stamp embossed with white ep and we're done.

So who am I sharing this little project with?
Frilly and Funkie - Weddings
It's all about the Vintage - Weddings/Spring Romance
DRS Designs - Paper Punches
As you like it -  Favourite 2 colour combo and why.  White on White I just the cleanliness of the combination which begs for layers and details but by virtue of monochrome never seems to be over done.

Stamping for the Week-end - Monochrome
Polkadoodles - To Die For
Fairy Tale Challenge - Invitation
Crafting when we Can - Punches and or Die Cuts

A very large match box

Hi Just a quick post this morning before I head off to the Sincerely Yours show at Lincoln.   This is yesterday's project, the box has been on the alterables mountain for quite a while (as these things so often are).   Yesterday an idea took shape.

Box coated all over with white gesso.   Dreamweaver stencils and a dimension paste.    Once the paste was dry first colours of DI ink applied with ink dusters.   Then some Artquest shimmer paint and Sakura gel pens.   Still not satisfied this morning I've added touches of Treasure Gold to the raised areas.

But it's a box and I can see things sticking to the sides you say.  well yes some die cut flowers and a couple of stamped and embossed images.   More Sakura pens used here to finish them off.

Quick Make Commission

Came home this evening with a commission for a wedding card to take back into work tomorrow.

The brief colourful, lace and flowers, romantic.   It was also suggested that I go for it! ummmmm this from someone who does not know the kind of things I like to make.

The card Marianne Heart Die and coloured vellum attached to a smaller die cut in card, this vellum has been a treasured unused sheet in my stash for years long before I moved in 2011.   This has been raised off the card with the deepest pads I have, very few of these left no idea where to get anymore, another long treasured and grudgingly used item.    Wedding wishes and rings stamped and embossed in gold both stamps that have been with me for years and years maybe about 15 years!   Flowers and ribbon and heart shaped gems.   The couple another Marianne die coloured with Adirondack ink and Promarkers.

Find out tomorrow if I've filled the brief.
Update card well received think they thought it was OK.

For now I'm sharing this card with

Time to clean up and wind down for the day.

Well I couldn't resist this challenge

It's the Less is More Challenge this week.   CAS is a style that intrigues me, sometimes you need a quick and simple card others it is the best way to get impact which no amount of dressing a card up will provide.    They might take 5 minutes to make but several hours to design and plan or more likely with me you make it up as you go!

This one took a little time the main image is fussy cut and stands proud on sticky pads.   All the colouring is in Promakers.

The Less is More theme is Cats &/or Dogs and an invitation to celebrate your family pet(s).    You might have heard of the IMPs Izzy, Minx and Pounce and before them Chaos and Havoc or my childhood cat Blackie/Lucky.   All cats all little treasures and or independent little masters and mistresses depending.

Here is Pounce hoping to distract me from taking a photo of the card and to play with him instead.

I need a few tags

So as you do I decided to make them and of course before doing that I turned to challenge land for inspiration.   Here are two that I'm quite pleased with!

TH tag die to cut some brown card and some cream card.  The cream card had already been stamped with a netting background stamp.   This tag was then coloured in places with blue Brilliance ink from a little teardrop pad.   A daisy stamp was then used randomly over it in a darker blue.  Another Brilliance teardrop (Coffee Bean) swiped over the edges of the tag basic direct to paper technique here!  Next it was embossed in the TH splash folder.   Two of the stamped daisy's coloured dark blue with ProMarkers.  An old chipboard flower sprayed with Dylisions blue and touched with Viva copper metallic ink.  Still thinking it needed something I played around with some brown and blue lace and some sticky backed pearls.

The second tag was much less work!   Brown tag, new Crafty Individuals dragon fly masks and Dylisions blue spray.   Dried with a heat gun, some brown beading cord wrapped around it, with a blue bead threaded on and held in place with a glue dot.

The challenges that inspired this
Inky Chicks - Blue and Brown
Allsorts - True Blue
Daring Cardmakers - Stencil it
I would add Craft-Room Challenge (Stamp your own background) except it's my challenge!

Right like it or not I've got to go out to the shops now.....

Craft-Room Challenge - Stamp your own Background

Two weeks have whizzed by again and it is time for a new challenge at the Craft-Room Challenge.    We are using a theme set by your former teamie Nikki this time it is such a great idea, thank you Nikki.   The challenge is to stamp your own background/background paper.  As Nikki will not be with us to choose her top 3 the whole team will vote for our collective favourites.   As usual there will be a random draw for one lucky person to win our sponsor's prize.

Our Sponsor this time is The Stamp Man whose online shop is full of crafty goodies.

For my background I used Moon Glow Starburst Stains on plain paper and scrunched it.   The musical instruments are from an Aspects of Design set, the trumpet stamped randomly over the paper along with musical notes also in the set.   The toppers use the same stamp set this time with Frantage shabby ep.

Please follow the links to the challenge and then perhaps over to my teamies to see all their fabulous projects.

Now it just happens
Stamping Sensations have a monthly challenge - Embossing and Texture, so I thought I'd share this with them.

Port Sunlight and Stuff

Yesterday was the spring Port Sunlight Craft Day, not the biggest sale but just about every stand is quality making it worth 160 mile drive across the island.   So I went, sat nav set and having gone before should have been a straight forward drive.   Should have been but the God's of Water, or their Children decided to usWie one of their streams as a hose and give us a down pour.   Then just to make the misery of the drive complete the God's of misdirection joined in adding about 20 miles and almost half an hour to the journey.   Still we got there and the spending commenced.   My colleague in shopping was Maria from the Craft-Room Team always good to catch up!

With a bag growing heavy with goodies a final circuit of the sale and now thinning crowd the Dimension stand was accessible.  There is was a stamp set like non other, the main stamp is a Harp with musical symbols and a musical score swirl.   Definitely the purchase of the day.

This morning  the idea of the music flowing through the instrument was tested.   The glossy card with stormy back ground is one I made ages ago using the DI and water technique.   Pleased with the result it has been kept, as so many things are, for the right project.   Harp stamped and heat embossed with silver ep, masked score stamped and embossed with gold ep.   Le Plume permanent markers used to add colour to the harp.   The Eagle stamped embossed (also gold) and coloured with Sakura white pen.    Corners rounded, scallop lace added to 2 corners with pink tipped flowers completing the picture.   I just love the dreamy, stormy drama of this, and am entering it in

May's Unrulyness

May Day when the village children celebrate some long forgotten rite by dancing round a May Pole holding ribbons streaming from the top.  Remember that?  For some peeps in some parts of the world today is a holiday but for us Brits we have to wait until Monday for our May Day break.

As usual we have a new month of Unruly Paperarts for you this month.  The theme for May is Faux Flowers and guess what there are Readers Art Quests for you to join in.   I've chosen 'use 5 flowers or more' making a green house.   Sorry about the back flash part of the painting involved Glimmer Mists.

Flowers are a mix of Grunge Paper, Shrink Plastic, Die cut, Stamping, and shop brought, making 5 different sorts of flowers.   Of course the best bit about RAQ's is that the readers vote for the best entries.
