31st October - Halloween

The day before All Saints Day, the day/night when all things spooky are around.

In Mexico they celebrate the day of the dead decorating the tombs of their ancestors in honour of their memory.   Rather like that it must bring a lot of comfort as well as being a fabulous celebration.

This little tableau is for tonight how ever you celebrate.   The skull is one I've had in the stash for a couple of years, last year it was painted white and left.  The eyes started it's finish I started 2 new Pentel brush pens recently the plastic protection rings fit really well in the eye sockets.   Now they are red with La Plume solvent pen.  In Lightening black it has Tanda crackle, green sparkly Sakura coloured teeth, and other patches of La Plume colour.   The wooden hand is a jointed model and the web is from a Tando halloween set that was not used this year.

A star to guide them

Guess it is time for another Christmas card, still need quite a few but one less now.

This week Less is More have simply asked for Stars, got out my Habico set for this card.   Stamped in Memento black Distress ink in Yellow layered over the star with a makeup brush.   Three kings stamped onto gray card and coloured with Pro Markers simply cut out and attached with sticky pads.   The brush swept around the raised image.

More Christmas cards to make and a lovely lazy Sunday to make them in.

Just for Fun - Any found object

Amazing the things you can find in your wardrobe or sewing boxes loved seeing them.

Now it is the last of Von's recycling challenge's for October and what fun it has been.   This week Von is simply looking for projects incorporating any found object.

Another of these little canvasses is the support here. First coloured the canvas with Pumice Stone DI on a craft mat.    Then TH cog masks placed over canvas and Scattered Straw dabbed over.    Next the 'clouds' were stamped.   All the screws, washers, nuts and other Tool box bits and pieces were found on the workshop floor at the marina.   The big hoop earring was found on the pavement I forget where the zip top came from.   The chain is from a necklace 'found' in a charity shop.    These bits and pieces were arranged on the canvas and when the layout decided on, the bicycle was stamped in Rusty Hinge DI along with the world Travel sitting on top.   One screw and one cog pushed through canvas everything else fixed with Glossy Accents and Viva gold Ferro.   When everything was set some Viva gold Croco spread over the top.   Finally an old Inkadinkado Rose was stamped on to red metal three times each rose cut out three times getting smaller each time.  The metal has been embossed with the sharp ended TSS tool layered the metal roses up and held them together with a pearl topped brad.

Found anything lately that sparked a project in your mind, we would love to see it at Just for Fun.

Dotty

You know how it is when you move you go through all your stash sorting it and packing it.  When you get to the other end and un-pack in your new home you sort it all out again.   It's amazing what you find when you are doing all this sorting bet you didn't remember you had that!

In my case a 12" square all ready to be made into a bag, so I've made t up.   Also found an old definition stamp which has been used with Bronze Cosmic Shimmer ep to embellish the bag.

So who is looking for dots?

Greetings from Grimsby!

Well we are here now and pretty much settled in, so much so that  the mojo returned yesterday and the first craft project here got under way.   Thank you to all of you who sent me new home cards they are all stunning will share them with you all soon.

The IMPs travelled well, over 4 hours in the car with no travel sickness or anything else!   They soon found their way around the house and normal, for them, family life resumed but they have not yet asked to go out.

So with the un-packing done it was time to get out the inks, the only thing was where to start.   Checking Feline Playful for challenges Fashionable Stamping popped out with their colour challenge of COFFEE & CREAM WITH DARK CHOCOLATE.

Dark chocolate card stock makes the base card in tent fold.   Marianne doily die cut rich creamy paper stock to form an overlapping mat.   Latte coloured card cut with a couple of Nesties and stamped with Espresso Adirondack ink, the edge of the main topper coloured with Vintage Photo.   A double strip of lace representing the froth of cappuccino.   So which stamp to use? Tanda's 'Cup of Tea' from 'Retro Women set 2'  seemed to fit! The Happy Birthday is from a smiley stamp.

We are also asked which our favourite coffee/tea drink is, Coffee black or Cappuccino.  Tea only Redbush or mint/fruit.

I am also sharing this with Tanda Teaser where Sue posted a Sepia Tones challenge a few days early!

Tando Creative Challenge - Halloween take 2!

Still not really a great fan of Halloween but have some great Tando chipboard and seeing a smashing Halloween blackboard in a garden center thought I'd make one.

6" x 6" sheet of Tando painted with black gesso.   Tanda Crackle stamp in silver for background.   The Tando flying witch painted with my own mix of purple and then silver around the edge.   Rock Candy crackle paint over the top.    The pumpkins painted with Orange acrylic paint and then black and some silver.   Silicon glue used to stick the shaped chipboard, so they really stand out.

Last of the DT pieces for Tando Creative's October Challenge this week.  Would love you to go and see all the teams samples from the last few weeks.   You might like to enter as well there are great prizes to be won.

Lots of Halloween challenges around am entering this into

Just for Fun - Sewing box or Wardrobe find

For a long time I've been wanting to make a button necklace this week's Just for Fun challenge gave me reason to get on and do it.

Von used to 'do' upholstery and continues to enjoy sewing when she can.   So what could be more natural then for her to set this week's recycling challenge to use things you find in the sewing box or the wardrobe.

The button's used here have been threaded onto different fibers some back to back, some nestled into a larger button, but mostly threaded as singles.  Some old green beads threaded onto acrylic thread complete the necklace.

Von's and Neet's fabulous samples are on their blogs and on the Just for Fun site.   Hope you will take a look and join in with us.

Craft-Room Black and White

Funky Felines people shared with us at Craft-Room Challenge last time, thank you all very much.

This time Kim has chosen the theme for our challenge Black and White.   How happy am I with her choice?   One of my favourite things to do is stamp white onto black card.

Used Kanban pre-cut shapes here with the black circle and the white mat.   Tanda image from Art Deco set 1 in white ink.   The base card is shiny coated but thankfully did not flash back when I took the picture.    The bow is American Seam binding tied and left un-inked.

Check the Craft-Room Challenge to see all the fabulous projects the team have made and perhaps share your own.

Just for Fun - Kitchen Finds

The kitchen to me is a place to heat water for Friendly Plastic, feed the cats and has a shelf for the microwave.   When Von challenged us to make something using anything found in the kitchen I was stumped.    A relaxing evening drink of Ginger Ale and the problem was solved.

Tried to get the label off the bottle but that label was there to stay, not a problem.   Covered the bottle with Modeling Paste and left to dry, this takes something like 2 hours depending on environment.   Viva Inka gold in green coloured the paste and florist wire wrapped round the bottle.    Next alcohol ink dripped down and some florist sand (thank you Von) also stuck to side as if it had dripped there.    Several little metal charms threaded on to think wire that was then woven around the bottle and the florist wire.   Two resisters attached to the wire circling the bottom.   From 'That kitchen draw', you know the one it is crammed with useful things that do not belong anywhere else, a candle.   This was encouraged to drip down the sides over and under all the other decoration.

Here is my kitchen find then, what is yours?   Please share it with us at Just for Fun and check out the fantastic samples Von and Neet have made.

Tando Challenge - Spookylicious

The Tando monthly challenge for October is well under way now.   This week we are sharing Kaz's Sample and mine with you.

Not the biggest fan of Halloween this canvas was still a lot of fun to put together. The pre-primed box canvas was sprayed with both Glimmer Mist and Cosmic shimmer to give a night blue sky.    The Pumpkins, Skulls, Bats and spider web are all Tando Chipboard.   These have been coloured with different sprays and paints.     A balsa wood cube coloured silver supports a small candle which lights the features of the larger skull behind.   Some viva ferro in graphite black runs down the side of the box canvas, across the middle and down the other side.   Glossy Accents lights the eyes of the three bats.

Would you like the chance to win some of Tando's fabulous chipboard or maybe two of their masks?    You will find out all the details at the Tando Creative Challenge Site

Just for Fun - Magazine or Book

Autumn is now showing her colours and just a touch of chill in the air!

As for all of you well just how creative are you? Fantastic anythings you shared with us at Just for Fun last week Thank you.

October is to be a month of recycling as led by Von.   More and more of us are looking at how they can reuse or re-purpose things that would otherwise be thrown away.   So Von wants to see what we are doing with them.  Starting this week which is about recycling a magazine or a book.    For my sample the cover from a free magazine pushed through the door.  It is very simple and has just been folded into a box with the lid slightly larger than the base so that they fit snugly together.   There is a fabulous tutorial at Split coast stampers.

Of course once it is folded you want to dress it up a bit!   Squared up a couple more magazine pages and folded them using the Napkin fold and then trimming the corners with a MS punch.   One of the sheets was painted with white Gesso and then coloured with DI.   Stuck to the top of the box with ribbon stuck below and tied over the top.   The second sheet left open on the side showing the creases for the napkin fold.

Please pop over to Just for Fun and see the fabulous creative things Von and Neet have done.   While you are there why not share you project with us.

Craft Room - Feeling Feline

Hello again, Christmas is definitely looming now, hope we helped you get into the spirit with our last challenge.   We did visiting all your great Christmas creations.

This time it is my turn to set the challenge, before we get to that I would like to thank the fantastic talented design team we have at Craft-Room.   These girls from around the world have made Craft-Room into the successful challenge that it has become, thank you
KimMerviDebiHazelNikkiEstherMaria and our sponsor team mate Julia.   Julia owns Craft-Room online shop a great source of crafting supplies, which offers £10 each challenge to one lucky randomly drawn winner who has displayed the shop logo and a link on their site.    Thank you all it is a delight to work with you.

Onto the challenge this week, with the move and all it entails, my trio the IMPs, have been a prime concern and so this week we are celebrating felines.    Any cat big or small in any style you like, make anything at all that appeals to you so long as it features a cat or cats.    My box is the middle sized one from a set of three that come with a square canvas that fits into the lid.   Painted with distress stain and stamped with Tanda stamps.   Grunge board hinges coloured with distress stain and attached as straps with Eco-Green glue, the punched holes were filled with glossy accents.   The glossy accents sinks as it goes off leaving the appearance of rivets.   The canvas has also been painted with distress stain and stamped in lightening black with more Tanda stamps.   The image outline was then shadowed with Cosmic Shimmer drawing ink.
