SCD - Orange Blue Brown

Its been a five Friday month this July so there have been five tag challenges at Something Completely Differnt this week being the last of them. Unusually for them they set a colour challenge its only the 2nd one I think, we are asked to use the colours Orange, Blue and Brown. Interesting combination Orange and Brown yes but with blue?!

Remembered my Tanda 'Clarice' stamps espically this border. Stamped with SU Soft Suede and coloured with Pro Markers. Cut the image out and layered it on a piece of blue card, with a brown eyelet and cord. The longest hardest part was remembering the stamps in the first place.

Lots to do - Scenic

The other week Hilda had a few days away and asked me to look after the Lots to do challenge for her. It was great fun going round and seeing everyone's work learning new things and being greatly inspired by it all. Well Hilda has now asked me to continue to help out with the challenge covering when she is away and supporting her in visiting and thanking everyone on a regular basis. As you may know Lots to do challenge has been one of my favorite challenges for over a year, since just a couple of weeks after this blog started in fact. To say I'm thrilled to be involved in this way is a bit of an understatement.

This week the theme is Scenic, it just so happens that Hilda is hosting a skinnie swap on Lots to do Forum also with a theme of Scenic this is the first of my 3 swaps.

Elusive Images stamps onto cream card and coloured with ProMarkers card then worked with DI. Has an autumn feel to it, well there are signs of Spring in New Zealand and as their seasons change so will ours LOL

CofC #7

Really enjoying Linda's weekly challenge to use a different technique out of Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities. This week we are using fragments as explained on page 55 of the book.

Over at Lots to do revisited forum I'm hosting a charms swap. As my fragments have little holes in alreaady it occured to me that they would make great charms. The cat image is one of my oldest and favorite stamps, well who would'nt want a charming little cat charm. A nice quick and easy make giving me a much needed mid week craft fix.

Since going back to work time is once more in short supply I have been trying to keep with everyones blog but am not managing to let you know I've been by will try to say hi next time.

Thank you Cath

A few days ago Cath drew her blogcandy draw believe it or not I'm not the winner. Cath decided to have some runners up and give us consolation prizes, well you know me I was thrilled just to be chosen, not much said Cath just a few stamps and bits. Great thinks I always room here for another stamp or two, returning this evening the post man had popped a note through the door telling me to look in the meter cupboard. Well can you believe this great pile of goodies when I thought I'd finally got to the bottom of the package there was more hiding under things and then more hiding under that! THANK YOU CATH this is an amazing gift.

Peg Dolls

Made these two for a swap I was running at Lots to do revisited but have now closed the swap and thought I'd share these with you.

The First is dressed in Brides Petals stitched with beads around the 'waist' on a backless dress.   The arms are rolled petals and wire.   The second is a piece of tyvek sleeve that pva glue was run on in thin lines this was covered with my gash ep and left for a few days to dry.   When the glue had set the ep was melted and the tyvek shrank making this fabulous front, more glue and some red glitter.   The back of the outfit is the same tyvek stamped in versa mark and heat embossed with the same gash ep.   Because the ep melted more quickly this way it did not shrivel as much and is soft.

Tuesday Tagger - Christmas in July

A little bit of news to start with I'm at work today! yes on a temporary basis at least I have a job oh at last earning funds for my craft stash again, not to mention being able to pay the mortgage. There may be fewer posting on here but you can be sure I'll find time to get inky LOL

We saw some lovely canvas last week thank you to everyone who joined in.   Onto this weeks theme at Tuesday Taggers we are looking for Christmas makes, well it is that time of year Christmas craft goodies are in the shops now and if you have not already been making your Christmas bits and bobs now might be the time to start! Promise myself every year to start now but do I? Do I heck as like.

For my first Christmas card of 2010 Dark green card cut to the size of the Dreamweaver stencil used, Silver diamension paste and once stencil removed Glamour dust lightly sprinkled on the right hand side of the trees and over the sentiment. You might just notice where the glitter picked up the flash when the picture was taken. Acetate printed with snowflakes sandwiched between topper and lighter green mat. Mat run through big shot with Cuttlebug Christmas tree decs folder, silver ink lightly swipped over embossed image.

Definitly worth joining in this week, one of our Team, Janet, loves Christmas so much and is so excited about this challenge she has personally donated a prize for one lucky crafter.  So wadda you waiting for pop on over the Tuesday Taggers and check it out, don't forget to come back and show what you make.  Most of all Have Fun.

Tanda Teaser - All at sea

What with job hunting and going to see Caroline this card was only finished today! Shocking I know.

Sue's challenge this fortnight at Tanda Teaser is 'All at sea'. This is one of the few times I've done a Tanda Teaser without using Tanda stamps.

Base card blended with Blue DI inks and a piece of mulberry paper for the mat. Glossy card brayed with Meadow Mountain for the sky and Hydrangea run over crumpled paper for the sea. Shairon and Joy if you see this please not the lines. Sail boat stamped and embossed in black onto the glossy card after the sky was in place but before the water. Stamped and embossed again onto pale blue vellum the sails cut out of the vellum and stuck onto the glossy card on the leading edge only. Crumple marks on sea and clouds behind sail 'coloured' with white Sakura souffle. Words stamped in teal stayzon part of a Papermania stamp.

SCD - Tags 'Circles' LTD Shapes

As soon as I saw this week's Something Completely Different's theme of circles for this week on Joanne's blog I knew exactly what to do. When finally visiting the challenge site realised that 2 of the DT had similar ideas hope they do not mind.

Lots to do this week is all about shapes guess this qualifies LOL.

Using whitewash green core card cut a circle with a nestie and ran it through with a cuttlebug circle folder, and rubbed over the top with a sanding pad. Cogs cut with TH die the card ones triple embossed with the gash silver used for distress projects. Cork cogs left plain, all attached with brads eyelets and grommits. A bit of charity shop chain completes the, hopefully, machinal feel of the tag.

Comment moderation

Hi to all my lovely friends and visitors. Your visits and comments mean so much and are always looked forward to. Have realised recently that sometimes when you comment on an older piece I do not notice your comment and so for that reason moderation has been turned on. Now I will not miss any of the lovely kind generous things you say.

In the middle Dream weaver paste through a Papermaina 'Summer Bloom' Stencil wet paste sprinkled with various colours of perfect pearls. Other parts of the sentcil used with shimmer chalks and chalk enhancer, finally blue chalk blended top and bottom.

The third atc has already been presented below.

Lets ink it up

Coming soon a new monthly challenge with Rubber or Clear stamps as the focus right now there is a DT call so if you are a rubber stamper best go and check it out at Lets ink it up good luck

Anyone interested in joining the DT is asked to show three pieces that they feel best shows their work. Just 3! have just had a journey back through this blog revisiting the many projects shared here found 29 that are representative hope the 3 chosen are different enough from each other to give an indication of the different directions rubber takes me

This re-covered book is stamping on Canvas, ironically the same canvas that was used for this weeks Tuesday Taggers piece. The stamps are Inkadinkado and Elusive images. This was first posted here with an explanation of materials and methods used.

A decorated envelope first posted here. Colour and a hand made look/feel are very much part of my style I'm proud to have made something and do not aim for the polished shop finish. This has been used since but I could not bring myself to write the address on the front so it went on the back LOL

The third piece is a card stamped in white on black card, another favourite. This is the original posting it was not long after entering this card in the Tuesday Taggers challenge that they invited me to join the team.

Well there you have it 3 different projects that today at least number amoung my favourites. If you want to know about the other 26 you'll have to ask but be warned if I do this again the selection if likely to be completely different.

CofC #6

This week Linda has decided we are to use page 66 of 'A Compendium of Curiosities' Multi Medium Collage. Still thinking of doing a second set of atcs for the Stampman swap made this little atc.

If you know me you'll know how hard it was to tear out a page even from a book brought for the purpose but in the interests of completing the challenge a page has been torn out of the book and chipboard shapes were covered. The atc was coloured with blending blocks and then stamped with a CS cover stamp. Butterfly and Dragonfly once covered given a GM spary or two and attached. Butterfly's flight represented by wire and beads wire antenners finish the piece.

Tuesday Tagger - Hang it all its a Canvas

Tuesday again, once more its time for Tuesday Taggers to challenge you. There were some stunning anniversary cards last week, romantic, cute and witty brave the man that gives the dragon card to his wife! LOL hope you all enjoyed yourself as much as we did visiting you all.

This week its my turn to set the theme, thought a great big wide open theme 'Canvas' would be fun. This can go in any direction you want there are all sorts of canvas to choose; pads of canvas paper, canvas board, boxed canvasses they come in all sizes. Use a piece of canvas with other materials needs to be a reasonable size and not just a little scrap some where. Canvas is used to make sails, bags, chairs all sorts of things have a play and then come back and show us what you have done. We have a sponsor this week who are offering a full set of their new Altered Originals Sprays to one lucky winner drawn at random this week, all you have to do is leave a little link to Art from the heart in you entry post.

For my offering this week my inspiration came from an article in the latest 'Cloth Paper Scissors' where Leilani Pierson wrote about Pocket scrolls. Leilani used canvas cloth while I used a canvas page from a pad and also replaced semi-gloss soft medium gel with matt finish modge podge so my canvas is probably a little stiffer than hers.

Tore A4 canvas in half roughly so it has frayed edges and is wider at one end, this became the bottom of the scroll. Sprayed canvas both sides with Memory mists in yellow and kaki the green was so clogged just shook a few drops on. Stamped on both sides of the piece in Momento filled in images and followed lines on outside with Acrylic paint, on the inkadinkado bird there are dots of paint giving more texture and feel. When ready the outside was sprayed with GM and given a coating of modge podge. While it was drying snipped a piece of florists wire to length giving it a curl at each end. Papers were cut to sit inside the scroll some are pattened some plain and some were watermarked with versamark. A couple of bird images and a treble cleft stamped on lightly coloured frosted shrink, cut out given a hole to hang them and on one bird 2 so it could be a button. Shrink shrunk 3 charms attached to wire with jump rings. Once the canvas was dry the button stitched on and some Decoflax cord stitched and glued inside behind the button. The wire is glued to the top of the canvas and the pages stuck inside the canvas. Roll it up and you have a portable journal.

So thats it Canvas in a roll what will you make of the challenge, don't forget you link to Art from the heart those new sprays look delicious.

LTD In Stitches

Hilda is having a few days offline before she shut the computer down she set up this weeks Lots to do challenge which is in stitches. Real of faux stitching is ok just some suggestion of stitches somewhere. Some fabulous entries already including an amazing Apron and a marvellous sampler.

If you know me you'll know sewing is not my greatest skill in fact I'm still recovering from the teacher who made me undo the seam seam for a whole term. Do enjoy making trapeeze cards and as needle and thread is involved an trusting it counts. Stencil marked, cutout and holes pierced, frame run through bigshot with an embossing folder. The raised embossing touched with matallic green cats eye ink. Copper and green thread used for the stitching, bird stamped on the same card stock embossed with Cosmic Shimmer and coloured with glitter Sakura. Flowers stamped and embossed, same ep, on vellum. Always remember being told you cannot heat emboss vellum but that was after I had started doing it so not sure why you are not supposed to.

Not any Stampman stamps on here but am entering it into the first of their new fortnightly challenges. The Stampman Challenge which is an open theme. Might be back with a second entry girls.

CofC # 5

Yea got to use the proper distress ep and distress embossing ink pad yea! Von came round today bring 4 or 5 bags of inks, powders, sewing thread, sewing books fabric and all sorts with her. We had a lot of fun Von using my trapeeze stencils for the first time great job hun please do blog it and share. While I got to try the technique on page 43 of 'A Compendium of Curiosities' and join in with Linda's great fun weekly challenge.

Used the same glossy card, paper and base card stock for this as I did for the salt and ep card a couple of days ago, can make a direct comparision. The owl is a tattered angles stamp with peeled paint dep. He came out rather well, the phase was stamped with DI and given a covering of DEP, forgot to dry the blended DI first so got a big green spolge of powder flicked most of it off leaving a slightly obsecured phase. First comparision, the ep and salt did not give me a blister on the end of my index finger! Well Von said you have to rub hard so I did. Certainly the DEP gives more texture as it sits on top of the card and does not sink in at all. Being mat it blends with the other colours (all DI in this case) rather than standing out as regular ep usually does. Suspect I need some more of the magic powder for further testing LOL. The little dragonflies have been picked out with distress stickles to finish this card.

WOW Thank you Neet

WOW will you look at this! Its the prize that Neet sent me following her random draw. All I had to do was follow her blog, well been doing that for quite a while and it is a pleasure to see her fabulous crafting and to share snippits of her daily life. Had completely forgotten about this until reading her post following the draw, then I got very excited but with job hunting etc forgot again!!!! so you can imagine my surprise and delight when this little lot landed on the mat today, not the postman did not have to push them one by one through the letter box they came very nicely packaged.

THANK YOU SO MUCH NEET

Going to have a lot of fun over the week-end discovering these.

Lazy Hazy Warm Summer days with Promarkers

Lots of questions thanks guys. Had an interview today for a great job that would have started on Monday saddly there was someone else they liked better, hay ho there are more jobs out there and one of them is mine! On the subject of the Cats, Minx still has a limp think she might have irritated it today as it seemed a bit worse. Maybe she will be lame for life but as it does not seem to stop her going where she wants or doing what she wants guess we'll live with it. RM have let us down big time and the Distress EP still has not turned up but Von is dropping by tomorrow for a little crafting play and she is going to bring some so with a bit of luck and a following wind I'll get to make something for the challenge yet!

So what is this card about, just an excuse to use this stamp and show it off. Its another of the QVC foam backed stamps simply stamped onto smooth card with black Momento and coloured with all manner of Promarkers. Round the corners and stuck flat onto a card. Reminds me of a summer garden where you can just sit out and enjoy the surroundings. Am entering this into the following challenges.

SCD - Tags 'Fantasy'

It's Friday must be a new theme over at Something Completely Different For July we are asked to work on tags and for this the third week the theme is Fantasy.

For this one the base card has a blend of Nick Bentock chrome yellow and Cerulean Azure. The florals are a QVC foam back stamp embossed with Enchanted Gold, the suggestion of greenary and flowers comes from Whisper pens. The Fairy is a Hobby Art stamp stamped with a mask over the floral frame. Sakura and Whisper have been used to add colour to the fairy. A short blast of GM Iridescent Gold over the top, the mica sits in the valleys of the hammered card.

Not CofC # 5

Cannot join in with Linda's challenge yet as I do not have any Distress EP. The lovely Hilda has posted some but RM has not got round to delivering it yet. In the mean time tried using ep and table salt.

Fortunatly one of my pots of ep is already quite grungy its the ep used on wet glue and plastic bags mixing a bit of salt in it is unlikely to spoil it. Lots of different stamps were used in the making of this card. cream card and cream paper stamped with music score and then different colours of DI blened into them. Treble Cleft, phase and cello stamped and embossed with ep and salt mix, well actually the salt went on first and the ep over the top. Once heated the salt had been blown away except a few grains held in place by the ep which took a bit of picking at to remove. Images then given the same DI blending treatment.

Having not seen results with the correct powder cannot compare results but as soon as Hilda's gift gets here I'll give it a go and let you all know.

Tuesday Tagger - Anniversary

The weeks keep on rolling by and we have another challenge for you at Tuesday Taggers but before getting to that thanks to everyone who joined in last week we had another great response and you certainly know how to make a scene.

This week it's the super talanted Teri's turn to choose, and as it is her anniversary this week she has chosen that as the theme, Happy Anniversary Teri. Good choice, its the wedding season so stands to reason there are even more anniversaries being celebrated about now. Not that it has to be a wedding anniversary all sorts of special occasions can be celebrated with a card, feel free to express the theme however you want.

Being single wedding anniversary cards are something I don't receive think I might have made this one for myself, certainly if there was an OH around this is the card I would want! Monochrome especially white on white is a great favourite, the stamped and embossed image (top right) is an old Anita's stamp, that card is matted on white vellum which has the Fiskers heart boarded punched down the left side. The flowers are a mixture of Petaloo and the August Craft Stamper cover stamp which has been stamped and embossed on the white vellum and also onto some tyvak, the tyvak curls as you heat it but slowly enough for the ep to melt and to allow some control of the end result. The white ribbon has the words 'you are the love of my life' stamped in white on it sort of a secret message. Heart and word charm, clear self adhesive gems (heart shaped) and a white self adhesive pearl and for a dash of colour a single red rose love how the white vellum mat reflects the red from the flow adding a warm rosy glow.

Normal service will resume soon, in the mean time do take a look at Tuesday Taggers to see the fabulous pieces the rest of the DT have made and leave a link to yours.

Once again Allsorts have a theme simialar to ours! They want to see a heart as a focus on your work, hope the heart at the centre of the stamp on mine counts.

Tanda Teaser - 150 All things Oriental

WOW Challenge 150 and as the last few have been for two weeks the challenge has been running a bit longer than that, Tanda Teaser must be one of the longest runnng challenge sites still running. Well done Sue and Wendy

Thanks Sue for suggesting my tag for this challenge but i had other ideas LOL. Have cut the screen the wrong way round but rather like the result so completed the trifold card.

Tanda stamps embossed with black ep onto silver vellum and coloured with Promarkers. Thank goodness for the Xyron sticker maker vellum stuck onto card without the glue showing.

Sunset Cruise

My former employers had a big event yesterday for all Sea Ray owners in the UK. Sea Rays are a range of power boats considered to be the Merc's of the sea.

So with a day of water borne fun planned a sizable fleet of boats of all shapes and sizes assembled in Poole Harbour. Not being a boat owner I did not join them for the days fun and games but did pop over for the sunset cruise round Poole harbour. The sun shone all day yesterday and it was hot, however the evening was very cloudy and we were not treated to a stunning sunset over the Purbecks quite liked this single ray breaking through the clouds.

LTD - People and or Places

Hilda always tells us the week before what the challenge theme will be at Lots to do so why do i always wait until the week to make my entry? This was going to be a vintage street scene until my shower this morning, lots of inspiration in the shower!

One of my favourite places in the world is Stone Henge, might have mentioned that before. When growing up we would go there some Sundays and you could walk amoung the stones and touch them and really explore the site. The magic stuck. The whole of that plains area has ancient roots full of myth and magic, it used to be said the Merlin raised the stones.

Lots of techniques here brayered B&J on glossy card for the Henge scene. Distressed ink on mat card for the topper Wizard stamped and embossed on same card added as a final layer. Wizard and Dragon coloured with Pro Markers. If you look closly you will see that the lock is upside down!

SCD - Tags 'Are you sitting comfortably'

Done it not so difficult after all! When the challenge was posted this morning over at Something Completely Different it turned out to be 'Are you sitting comfortably'. Wondered what there was in my collection to use. Light bulb moment this Tanda set Art Nouveau Girls set 2 designed by Sue Law, combined with one of their Far East stamps and the impression of an Impeller that Andrew made up into a stamp for me.

B&J brayered in corners Girl in chair stamped and coloured with ProMarkers. Girl masked and Bamboo stamped and given some green leaves. Sun is the Impeller stamped twice in differnet shades of yellow, touch of blue sky, know what these look like now LOL. Using the water spalsh embossing folder from TH ran the card through the Big Shot adding texture and cooling her down a little.

This is my third swap piece for the New Home swap I'm hosting at Lots to do Revisited forum The swap ends closes on the 15th unless anyone asks for it to be delayed a day or two.

The canvas has been coloured with BI Rusty Hinge, shabby shutters, and Scattered Straw and them stamped. Sakura pens enhanced the stamped images and the canvas has then had a double coat of clear ep. The set of frames were stamped and given some Viva terra for texture and diamension. A soap stone bead added with wool and lots of hanging ribbon just because.

Stampman atc swap

The Stampman ATC swap is up and running again with the opening theme of Wings. Set of 3 ATCs incorporating the theme will be rewarded with 3 ATCs made by others. You can enter more than one set but must be in threes. Not sure if i will make another set or not but will be sending these.

Shrink butterfly over an old Happy Birthday stamp, rose coloured with sakura glitter pens and then given a glossy accents cover which enhances the glitter. The edges of the ATC have been cut to make a fringe and Perfect Pearls added.

The 2nd ATC is yesterday's shabby chic piece.

The third with a vellum butterfly has a butterfly on blackberry bush stamped and embossed in clear. Image watercoloured with Sakura Glitter pens and Perfect Pearls touched on the 'blank' spaces. The perfect pearls look like odd marks until the piece is tilted in the light.

Hope my swap partners like them.

CofC # 4

This wing themed atc was made using the shabby chic method on page 49 of A Compendium of Curiosities. This is the technique that Linda has directed us to this week. Have to admit that this is not a favourite with me and as its not used much its not well done. Base is black Stamp Bug stamps from both Dragonfly Dreams and Butterfly Kisses, three top coats, white, peri blue and finally citrus green. A little tyvak flower in two layers and heated to shape it.

Tuesday Tagger - Make a Scene

Once again thank you all who entered Tuesday Taggers last week. We all enjoy looking at your work and hope you will join in with us again this week.

Some weeks back now when Michelle told us that she had chosen 'Make a Scene' for this weeks Tuesday Taggers challenge it was my now usual panic of what are we meant to do now! Right up until Friday this project was a mystery when an early morning sighting of dawn reminded me of my Tanda stamps.

Alcohol inks on craft mat and dribbled down front of card for both sky and sea. Edges of clouds and waves marked with sparkly sakura. Tanda dawn and dolphins stamped dolphin in the water coated with glossy accents and glitter. Card gutted to frame postcard gold pen to mark and outline of the shape. Island stamped on card and also acetate both cut out acetate attached with Viva Terra and island stuck onto the edge of the frame birds on scene and card.

By chance Allsorts have the same challenge this week, guess we will see some cross over am certainly entering my effort in their challenge.

More papers for you

Dont know if the images are doing it for you but if they do please feel free to copy these for your personal use, not for commercial use thank you.

LTD - Hats or Crowns

Today is the 4th July one of the most famous dates on the calendar of the western world. If you are celebrating your national independance today HAPPY 4th July.

The challenge this week at Lots to do is to use a hat or a crown in your work. Rummaging for something to use found these wood crowns tucked away from a couple of years back. Painted crowns with white gesso and then gold acrylic paint, overstamped with a LB background stamp in burnt copper and heat embossed clear ep over it. Threaded beads to create the hanging ornament holding key beads in place with glossy accents. Micro beads stuck to crowns again with glossy accents.

You may like these

Cath has inspired me with her generosity to share some of these map images with you, I will add other pictures over time include some scans from a blue print and something of a music score I picked up the other day. You are most welcome to copy any of them that take your fancy and to use them in your personal art, please do not use these images commercially they are only for your personal use. You might leave a comment and link to anything you make using the images would love to see what you do with them.

SCD - Tags with Hearts

Well 2010 is half way through, nearly Christmas LOL As its a new month its a new format from Something Completely Different for July we will be asked to work on Tags. Useful format tags they can be any shape & size you want going to have some fun then. The theme for this week is Hearts.

So they can be any shape and size and still I went for a traditional luggage tag shape! Cut tag to size and also two moos, coloured with 'Shades of Orange' blending block on craft mat and spritzed with Potion No. 9. Dug out those old DoCrafts CDs for the shopper her bags and shoes all stamped and embossed in black shopper coloured with Promarkers, shoes and bags with sparkly sakura. Edges of Moos heat embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Red. Some script inked with red in the middle of the stamp to avoid hard edges and two hearts stamped and embossed with the CS red, filled with sakura. A little heart charm hangs from one of the Moos.

Bit different for me but well hearts thats a tough subject.

Alter it Monthly & a swap

As you might know we had a bit of a relaunch at the Lots to do forum and it seemed like a good idea to have a New Home themed swap 3 anythings you like based around the new home idea. You have seen one of my makes already here this is the 2nd piece. The swap is open until the 15th if you fancy joining the forum and swap.

Bare Essential picture frame, sprayed with DB's black and gold paint after it had driven me sane, then given a coat of GM Lily pad. Gold Viva Croco which just sucked up the green giving it a wonderful lustre, putting the Croco on thickly provides deep textural cracks. Flowers grungeboard and grungepaper die cut with a TH die, all coloured with Nick Bantock inks and distress stickles, grunge curled and shaped. Die cut letters that I hope the new owener will be able to take off if they want soemthing other than a new home frame.

Am entering this into the Alter it monthly Home sweet home challenge for July.
